Hendon F.C.

Edgware Town Football Club is a football club from Edgware, London Borough of Barnet, England. Originally established in 1939, the club was dissolved at the end of the 2007–08 season but were then reformed in 2014. The club are currently members of the Combined Counties League Premier Division North and play at Silver Jubilee Park in Kingsbury, about three miles from the club's original ground, the White Lion, in Edgware.

Welsh Harp ward is a political division of the London Borough of Brent that returns three representative Councillors and at the 2006 election was held by the Labour Party Francis Eniola, Mary Farrell, and Harbhajan Singh.

West Hendon Playing Fields is a 62 acre public park in West Hendon in the London Borough of Barnet. It is one of Barnet's Premier Parks.It is a large grassed area with scattered mature trees. It has two tennis courts, several football pitches, a children's playground, a private bowls club, a basketball shooting hoop and a car park. The park formed part of the extensive open spaces owned by Hendon Borough Council in 1932 which became part of the London Borough of Barnet in 1965. The park is bordered on the south by the Brent Reservoir nature reserve, and on the east by Silver Jubilee Park in Brent. There is also access from Goldsmith Avenue and Fryent Grove.

Woodfield School, located in Kingsbury, London, caters for pupils aged 11–19 with a range of special educational needs including those who have moderate to complex learning difficulties together with a range of other needs. Two thirds of the pupils are boys. Increasingly, pupils are admitted with more complex needs. A further quarter have behaviour, emotional and social difficulties (BESD). Nearly half have English as an additional language (EAL), with Gujerati, Urdu and Somali being the three main languages spoken other than English. Nearly half the pupils are entitled to free school meals, and the number coming from single parent families is high. The school is a member of a local Education Action Zone (EAZ) and has achieved the Investors in People, Healthy Schools, Sportsmark, and International School awards. In July 2009, the school was granted specialist sports college school status in sport. A new sixth form building opened in February 2008. The sixth form is for pupils aged from 16-19, and consists of a year 12, year 13 and year 14 class. In September 2010, the school opened an SLD unit to provide placements for pupils entering year 7 that would allow them a staged transition to the main part of the school. In March 2013, the school was accepted as a Teaching School, part of the National Teaching School program run by the Department for Education. Woodfield is part of an alliance of strategic partners in Brent Schools. The school helps to provide Teacher Training. The alliance will has a focus on SEN and also supports schools in the Brent Schools Partnership. The other partners are Oakington Manor Primary School, The Village and Manor School. On 1 March 2019 Woodfield became part of the Compass Learning Partnership, a multi academy trust of schools in Brent.

The Hyde is a locality in the London Borough of Barnet in London, England, and is also the name of its accompanying main road on the A5. It is located to the east of Kingsbury, west of Hendon and south of Colindale. The area contains Hyde House (a large building partly used as a hotel), Hendon Magistrates' Court, a large Sainsbury's supermarket, Silkbridge Retail Park, and BT Colindale House telephone exchange. The area is considered a part of Colindale.

The Silk Stream is a brook just over 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) long in the London Borough of Barnet. It is one of the major components of the Blue Ribbon Network.The Silk Stream is a tributary of the River Brent, which it joins at Brent Reservoir. It has several tributaries including Burnt Oak Brook, Edgware Brook, the Edgwarebury Brook and Deans Brook. The Silk Stream runs north–south through Colindale and Hendon. It gives its name to Silkstream Road, near Burnt Oak station, and the Silk Bridge Retail Park beside where it passes under the A5. Silk Stream and Burnt Oak Brook are a Site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation, Grade II.The name Silk is believed to derive from sulh or sulc, Old English words for plough or furrow.

The Brent Reservoir (popularly called the Welsh Harp) is a reservoir in North West London. It straddles the boundary between the boroughs of Brent and Barnet and is owned by the Canal & River Trust. The reservoir takes its informal name from a public house called The Welsh Harp, which stood nearby until the early 1970s. It is a 68.6-hectare (170-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), the only SSSI in either borough and among more than 30 SSSIs in Greater London. The reservoir is fed by the Silk Stream and the River Brent. Its main outflow is the River Brent. Its smaller outflow is a feeder channel to the canal system. It holds an estimated 1,600,000 m3 (57,000,000 cu ft). In 1994 when the reservoir was drained more than 3,000 kg (6,700 lb) of fish were captured, 95% of which were roach. However, fishing is prohibited. The reservoir has a sailing centre, home to Welsh Harp Sailing Club, Wembley Sailing Club, the Sea Cadets, and the University of London Sailing club. In 1960, it also hosted the Women's European Rowing Championships. The reservoir also hosts the Phoenix canoe club and outdoor centre.

Old St Andrew's Church, Kingsbury, is a Romanian Orthodox and former Anglican church in Kingsbury in the London Borough of Brent, Greater London, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

West Hendon is a district of Hendon in North London, in the London Borough of Barnet. It is the NW9 part of Hendon, located around the A5 Edgware Road and the Welsh Harp (Brent Reservoir). The area is known for the West Hendon Estate which is undergoing controversial regeneration.

Hendon railway station is on the Midland Main Line in England, serving Hendon in the London Borough of Barnet, north London. It is 6 miles 79 chains (11.2 km) down the line from St Pancras and is situated between Cricklewood to the south and Mill Hill Broadway to the north. Its three-letter station code is HEN. The station is served by Thameslink-operated trains on the Thameslink route. It is on the boundary of Travelcard Zone 3 and Zone 4. It was built by the Midland Railway in 1868 on its extension to St. Pancras. From 1875 the Midland opened a service to Victoria on the London, Chatham and Dover Railway line and received coaches from the London and South Western Railway for attachment to northbound trains.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) was a non-departmental public body in the United Kingdom. It was an organisation that was set up by the UK government in 2003 to protect the public in England from threats to their health from infectious diseases and environmental hazards. It did this by providing advice and information to the general public, to health professionals such as doctors and nurses, and to national and local government. There were four HPA centres – at Porton Down in Salisbury, Chilton in Didcot, South Mimms in Hertfordshire, and Colindale in NW London. In addition, the HPA had regional laboratories across England and administrative headquarters in Central London. On April 1, 2013, the HPA minus the South Mimms site became part of Public Health England, a new executive agency of the Department of Health (DoH). The National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC) located in South Mimms was merged with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). The HPA's role was to provide an integrated approach to protecting public health in the UK by providing emergency services, support and advice to the National Health Service (NHS) and local authorities, other Arms Length Bodies, the Department of Health and the Devolved Administrations. The HPA also had a lead role in helping preparations for new and emerging health threats, such as a bioterrorism or in the event of an emerging virulent disease strain.
