The Crest Girls' Academy, formerly known as John Kelly Girls' Technology College, was a girls' secondary school with academy status located in Neasden, Brent, North West London. The school was situated next to Crest Boys' Academy; the schools shared a sixth form. All three schools were amalgamated into E-ACT Crest Academy, which opened in September 2014. The Crest Girls' Academy was sponsored by E-ACT. The school was one of the first to gain a specialism in the specialist schools movement. Crest Girls had three specialisms: Technology (1998) Languages (2004) and Training Schools. An Ofsted report in June 2013 judged the school as having serious weakness and offering an inadequate standard of education. The Academy underwent a restructure with new teaching and leadership appointments to drive forward standards. The Academy sought consultation over plans to merge Crest Girls' Academy and Crest Boys' Academy into one school, retaining single sex education. The Academy was due to merge in September 2014 and set to move into its new £40 million building also. GCSE headline figures for the school had risen in recent years. In 2011 43% of students attending Crest Girls' Academy achieved 5 A*-C grades at GCSE including English and Maths. This rose to 51% 5A*-C grades at GCSE including English and Maths in 2012 and 56% in 2013.

E-ACT Crest Academy is a secondary school with academy status located in Neasden, Brent, North West London. The school opened in September 2014 replacing Crest Girls' Academy, Crest Boys' Academy and Crest Sixth Form. E-ACT Crest Academy serves the local communities of Neasden, Dollis Hill and Cricklewood. The school was the centre of controversy in June 2015 when the leadership of the school scrapped the retention of single gender teaching, instead opting for a co-educational, integrated model against the wishes of some parents. E-ACT Crest Academy is sponsored by E-ACT. who provide support through a Systems Leader, who challenges and supports the academy. The school's System Leader is Dame Joan McVittie. The school has undergone a transformation with a significant increase in GCSE results, achieving 53% 5A*-C including English & Maths in 2016, reversing a period of decline at the school.E-ACT Crest Academy is led by Mohsen Ojja, who joined in January 2015 and has installed a new Leadership Team. Shortly after his appointment the school was inspected by Ofsted and deemed to require Special Measures for the third consecutive time. In October 2016, the Academy was graded 'Good' in all areas by Ofsted.In September 2014, E-ACT Crest Academy opened in a new £40 million building, designed by Capita Symonds and built by Wates Construction.

West Hendon is a district of Hendon in North London, in the London Borough of Barnet. It is the NW9 part of Hendon, located around the A5 Edgware Road and the Welsh Harp (Brent Reservoir). The area is known for the West Hendon Estate which is undergoing controversial regeneration.

The Silk Stream is a brook just over 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) long in the London Borough of Barnet. It is one of the major components of the Blue Ribbon Network.The Silk Stream is a tributary of the River Brent, which it joins at Brent Reservoir. It has several tributaries including Burnt Oak Brook, Edgware Brook, the Edgwarebury Brook and Deans Brook. The Silk Stream runs north–south through Colindale and Hendon. It gives its name to Silkstream Road, near Burnt Oak station, and the Silk Bridge Retail Park beside where it passes under the A5. Silk Stream and Burnt Oak Brook are a Site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation, Grade II.The name Silk is believed to derive from sulh or sulc, Old English words for plough or furrow.

The Crest Boys' Academy (formerly John Kelly Boys' Technology College) was a secondary school with academy status located in Neasden in the London Borough of Brent. The school was founded as John Kelly Boys' School in 1958 and was set in pleasant and extensive grounds. The school was served by a number of bus routes (332, 245, 182, 16) and was close to Neasden and Dollis Hill Underground stations. John Kelly Boys' Technology College turned into an academy on 1 September 2009, and became Crest Boys' Academy (sponsored by E-ACT). The school was situated next to Crest Girls' Academy; the schools shared a sixth form. Due to concerns regarding the quality of education at both Crest Boys’ Academy and Crest Girls’ Academy following a grading of Satisfactory by Ofsted, an Executive Principal Phil Hearne was appointed to lead both schools. An Ofsted report in June 2013 placed the school in special measures, stating that it offered an inadequate standard of education. In October 2013 Billy O’Keeffe, the Head of School resigned. In April 2014 a new Principal Director Elroy Cahill was appointed. The Academy underwent a restructure with new teaching and leadership appointments to drive forward standards. The Crest Boys' Academy merged with the Crest Girls' Academy and Crest Sixth Form to become E-ACT Crest Academy, which moved into a new £40,000,000 building in September 2014.

Dollis Brook runs through the London Borough of Barnet in north London. It is a tributary of the River Brent, which is itself a tributary of the River Thames. The Dollis Valley Greenwalk follows almost all of Dollis Brook, apart from a short section at the beginning which passes through private land, and the London Loop follows it as far as Barnet Lane. The name Dollis is probably derived from the Middle English word 'dole', meaning the shares of land in the common field. Dollis Brook rises at two points, one on Mote End Farm and the other on the London Loop and Dollis Valley Greenwalk at TQ 21714 94551 – the latter only has water after heavy rain. The brook then flows through private land under Hendon Wood Lane. Its course is eastwards through Totteridge Fields, a Site of Metropolitan Importance, and then through fields and open spaces to King George V Playing Fields in Totteridge. The brook then turns southwards and forms the eastern boundary of Totteridge. It passes through Wyatts Farm Open Space and Brook Farm Open Space to Totteridge Lane near Totteridge and Whetstone Underground station, and then continues south through Woodside Park (where it merges with Folly Brook) and West Finchley, before passing under the Dollis Brook Viaduct which carries the Northern line between Finchley Central and Mill Hill East Underground stations. Until 1965 Dollis Brook formed the boundary between the municipal boroughs of Finchley and Hendon. Dollis Brook then passes under Dollis Road and through Windsor Open Space to the Great North Way (A1). Near Bridge Lane in Hendon it merges with Mutton Brook to form the River Brent. Upper Dollis Brook between Mill Hill and Woodside Park, including neighbouring open spaces, is a Site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation, Grade I. It is too shaded for aquatic plants, but plants such as yellow iris and water-pepper grow along its banks and kingfishers, grey wagtails, and moorhens can be seen along the stream.Lower Dollis Brook is a Site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation, Grade II. It starts at Woodside Park and includes Brent Park and the River Brent until it passes under the Northern line near Brent Cross Flyover. It is less ecologically rich than Upper Dollis Brook, but nevertheless forms a valuable green corridor through suburban areas.

Woodfield School, located in Kingsbury, London, caters for pupils aged 11–19 with a range of special educational needs including those who have moderate to complex learning difficulties together with a range of other needs. Two thirds of the pupils are boys. Increasingly, pupils are admitted with more complex needs. A further quarter have behaviour, emotional and social difficulties (BESD). Nearly half have English as an additional language (EAL), with Gujerati, Urdu and Somali being the three main languages spoken other than English. Nearly half the pupils are entitled to free school meals, and the number coming from single parent families is high. The school is a member of a local Education Action Zone (EAZ) and has achieved the Investors in People, Healthy Schools, Sportsmark, and International School awards. In July 2009, the school was granted specialist sports college school status in sport. A new sixth form building opened in February 2008. The sixth form is for pupils aged from 16-19, and consists of a year 12, year 13 and year 14 class. In September 2010, the school opened an SLD unit to provide placements for pupils entering year 7 that would allow them a staged transition to the main part of the school. In March 2013, the school was accepted as a Teaching School, part of the National Teaching School program run by the Department for Education. Woodfield is part of an alliance of strategic partners in Brent Schools. The school helps to provide Teacher Training. The alliance will has a focus on SEN and also supports schools in the Brent Schools Partnership. The other partners are Oakington Manor Primary School, The Village and Manor School. On 1 March 2019 Woodfield became part of the Compass Learning Partnership, a multi academy trust of schools in Brent.

West Hendon Playing Fields is a 62 acre public park in West Hendon in the London Borough of Barnet. It is one of Barnet's Premier Parks.It is a large grassed area with scattered mature trees. It has two tennis courts, several football pitches, a children's playground, a private bowls club, a basketball shooting hoop and a car park. The park formed part of the extensive open spaces owned by Hendon Borough Council in 1932 which became part of the London Borough of Barnet in 1965. The park is bordered on the south by the Brent Reservoir nature reserve, and on the east by Silver Jubilee Park in Brent. There is also access from Goldsmith Avenue and Fryent Grove.

Welsh Harp railway station was built by the Midland Railway in 1870 on its extension to St. Pancras station.

Edgware Town Football Club is a football club from Edgware, London Borough of Barnet, England. Originally established in 1939, the club was dissolved at the end of the 2007–08 season but were then reformed in 2014. The club are currently members of the Combined Counties League Premier Division North and play at Silver Jubilee Park in Kingsbury, about three miles from the club's original ground, the White Lion, in Edgware.

Hendon Football Club is a semi-professional football club based in Kingsbury in the London Borough of Brent. They are currently members of the Southern League Premier Division South and play at Silver Jubilee Park in Kingsbury.

Hendon railway station is on the Midland Main Line in England, serving Hendon in the London Borough of Barnet, north London. It is 6 miles 79 chains (11.2 km) down the line from St Pancras and is situated between Cricklewood to the south and Mill Hill Broadway to the north. Its three-letter station code is HEN. The station is served by Thameslink-operated trains on the Thameslink route. It is on the boundary of Travelcard Zone 3 and Zone 4. It was built by the Midland Railway in 1868 on its extension to St. Pancras. From 1875 the Midland opened a service to Victoria on the London, Chatham and Dover Railway line and received coaches from the London and South Western Railway for attachment to northbound trains.
