The Silk Stream is a brook just over 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) long in the London Borough of Barnet. It is one of the major components of the Blue Ribbon Network.The Silk Stream is a tributary of the River Brent, which it joins at Brent Reservoir. It has several tributaries including Burnt Oak Brook, Edgware Brook, the Edgwarebury Brook and Deans Brook. The Silk Stream runs north–south through Colindale and Hendon. It gives its name to Silkstream Road, near Burnt Oak station, and the Silk Bridge Retail Park beside where it passes under the A5. Silk Stream and Burnt Oak Brook are a Site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation, Grade II.The name Silk is believed to derive from sulh or sulc, Old English words for plough or furrow.

West Hendon Playing Fields is a 62 acre public park in West Hendon in the London Borough of Barnet. It is one of Barnet's Premier Parks.It is a large grassed area with scattered mature trees. It has two tennis courts, several football pitches, a children's playground, a private bowls club, a basketball shooting hoop and a car park. The park formed part of the extensive open spaces owned by Hendon Borough Council in 1932 which became part of the London Borough of Barnet in 1965. The park is bordered on the south by the Brent Reservoir nature reserve, and on the east by Silver Jubilee Park in Brent. There is also access from Goldsmith Avenue and Fryent Grove.

Edgware Town Football Club is a football club from Edgware, London Borough of Barnet, England. Originally established in 1939, the club was dissolved at the end of the 2007–08 season but were then reformed in 2014. The club are currently members of the Combined Counties League Premier Division North and play at Silver Jubilee Park in Kingsbury, about three miles from the club's original ground, the White Lion, in Edgware.

West Hendon is a district of Hendon in North London, in the London Borough of Barnet. It is the NW9 part of Hendon, located around the A5 Edgware Road and the Welsh Harp (Brent Reservoir). The area is known for the West Hendon Estate which is undergoing controversial regeneration.

Hendon railway station is on the Midland Main Line in England, serving Hendon in the London Borough of Barnet, north London. It is 6 miles 79 chains (11.2 km) down the line from St Pancras and is situated between Cricklewood to the south and Mill Hill Broadway to the north. Its three-letter station code is HEN. The station is served by Thameslink-operated trains on the Thameslink route. It is on the boundary of Travelcard Zone 3 and Zone 4. It was built by the Midland Railway in 1868 on its extension to St. Pancras. From 1875 the Midland opened a service to Victoria on the London, Chatham and Dover Railway line and received coaches from the London and South Western Railway for attachment to northbound trains.

Oliver Goldsmith Primary School is a primary school in Kingsbury, London, England, located on Coniston Gardens in the London Borough of Brent. It was opened in 1937 as part of Middlesex County Council’s programme of school building to serve the rapidly expanding suburban population of Kingsbury, replacing earlier educational provision centred on Kingsbury Road. The school serves pupils aged 3 to 11. The school is named after the eighteenth-century writer Oliver Goldsmith, who lived nearby at Hyde Farm in Kingsbury during the 1770s. Its history reflects the development of education in the area from the late nineteenth century through suburban expansion, wartime disruption, and later changes in local education policy.

North London Grammar School is a non-denominational independent secondary and preparatory school for girls and boys aged 7–18 located in Hendon, Barnet, a suburb of North London, England. NLGS was formerly the Wisdom School, established in Tottenham, Haringey in 2006. The expanded school, which opened in September 2014, offers a 50,000 square foot site versus the former 6000 square foot Tottenham site.The school was rated Outstanding in all categories according to Ofsted's 2018 report.The school has a capacity for 330 students and space for 30 boarding students. The boarding site is located within the school building. The school accepts day/boarding, local, national and international students. The recently refurbished boarding house is home to 29 boys. They are of mixed year groups, with their number of boarders ranging from year 8 to year 11. Our boarders develop a close attachment to their peers, where they live and study under the care of a supervisor who knows them thoroughly and who maintains a close relationship with their families back home. Our boarding is accredited by the Boarding Schools Association.

Colindale is a district in the London Borough of Barnet; its main shopping street on the A5 forming the borough boundary with neighbouring Brent. Colindale is a suburban area, and in recent years has had many new apartments built. It's also the location of the 1960s-1970s Grahame Park housing estate, built on former parts of Hendon Aerodrome. It is situated about eight miles (thirteen kilometres) northwest of Charing Cross, directly northwest of Hendon, to the south of Edgware and east of Queensbury.

The Brent Reservoir (popularly called the Welsh Harp) is a reservoir in North West London. It straddles the boundary between the boroughs of Brent and Barnet and is owned by the Canal & River Trust. The reservoir takes its informal name from a public house called The Welsh Harp, which stood nearby until the early 1970s. It is a 68.6-hectare (170-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), the only SSSI in either borough and among more than 30 SSSIs in Greater London. The reservoir is fed by the Silk Stream and the River Brent. Its main outflow is the River Brent. Its smaller outflow is a feeder channel to the canal system. It holds an estimated 1,600,000 m3 (57,000,000 cu ft). In 1994 when the reservoir was drained more than 3,000 kg (6,700 lb) of fish were captured, 95% of which were roach. However, fishing is prohibited. The reservoir has a sailing centre, home to Welsh Harp Sailing Club, Wembley Sailing Club, the Sea Cadets, and the University of London Sailing club. In 1960, it also hosted the Women's European Rowing Championships. The reservoir also hosts the Phoenix canoe club and outdoor centre.
