Marratxí

The Taifa of Majorca was a medieval Islamic taifa kingdom which existed from 1018 to 1203 in Majorca. It was founded by the Slavic warlord Mujāhid al-ʿĀmirī. The first taifa lasted for about 50 years (1076-1116), first succumbing to a Christian crusade and later being occupied by the Almoravids. After a period in which the Balearic Islands were integrated into the Almoravid Empire, it ended up disintegrating, suffering the same fate as the Caliphate of Córdoba. It was ruled by the Aghlabid dynasty, an Arab Najdi dynasty of the Banu Tamim tribe. A new, independent kingdom arose, the second taifa (1147-1203), under the Banu Ghaniya dynasty, which would become the last Almoravid stronghold in Al-Andalus against the Almohads' advance.

Consell (Catalan: [konˈsəʎ] or [konˈsəj]) is a small municipality in the district of Raiguer on Majorca, one of the Balearic Islands, Spain.

Son Bonet Aerodrome (Spanish: Aeródromo de Son Bonet) (ICAO: LESB) was the first civil airfield on Mallorca. Originally built during the 1920s as an alternative to the military airport at Son Sant Joan, the first commercial flight was in 1927 and a flying school established in 1935. The airfield is located in the Marratxí municipality between Pont d'Inca and Pla de Na Tesa, which is in close proximity to Palma (5½ km northeast from the town centre). During the Spanish Civil War it was adapted for both civilian and military purposes. The Italian air force briefly used the airport as one of their bases to launch bomber raids over the mainland. During 1946, Son Bonet was equipped as a customs airport and opened to domestic and international traffic in July. Over the following decade, the airport traffic increased, which facilitated modernisation and improvements to be made. However, the airport could neither accommodate larger aircraft nor could the runway be extended, so these services were transferred to the island's main airport in July 1959. Today it is primarily used for general and leisure aviation, with approximately 75,000 flights per year.

Consell Observatory (Spanish: Observatorio Astronómico de Consell and Catalan: Observatori Astronòmic de Consell; observatory code: 176) is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the Latin American League of Astronomy. It is located at an altitude of 130 metres (430 ft) in Consell on Majorca island, which is part of Spain.

Bunyola is a municipality of the island of Mallorca, Spain, located in the spurs of the Serra de Tramuntana, at a distance of 9 miles (14 km) from Palma. The municipality has an area of 32.67 square miles (84.6 km2) and a population of 6,636 inhabitants,INE Instituto Nacional Estadística and the Ferrocarril de Sóller passes through it on the way to Palma. The municipality of Bunyola is located in the Comarca of Serra de Tramuntana, the Tramuntana Range was awarded World Heritage Status by UNESCO as an area of great physical and cultural significance. Bunyola borders with other municipalities of Palma de Mallorca, Marratxí, Santa Maria del Camí, Alaró, Escorca, Sóller, Deià and Valldemossa. Palmayola, Sa Font Seca y Orient are located within the municipality boundaries. Celebration day of the patron saint, San Mateo, is on the 21st of September. The Raixa Estate is located in Bunyola. It is a large Italian style villa surrounded by Pietro Lazzarini-designed gardens, and was used as the filming location for the 1982 film, Evil under the Sun. Once owned by the German designer Jil Sander, it was subsequently purchased by the Island Council of Majorca. It reopened to visitors in late 2018.

In 2020, the airport handled 6.1 million passengers (after 29.7 million in pre COVID-19 conditions in 2019), making it the third busiest airport in Spain, after Madrid–Barajas and Barcelona-El Prat. The airport is the main base for the Spanish carrier Air Europa and also a focus airport for EasyJet, Jet2.com, Ryanair and Vueling. The airport shares runways with the nearby Son Sant Joan Air Force Base, operated by the Spanish Air Force.

The above ground open-air station lies parallel to Highway Ma-11 and also serves the adjacent Ferrocarril de Sóller line going to the town of Sóller. The metro station was opened 25 April 2007 and includes an adjacent free car park.
