KXCL (101.7 FM) is a radio station licensed to Rock Creek Park, Colorado, United States. The station is currently owned by Calvary Church with Ed Taylor. The station received approval from the Federal Communications Commission on November 1, 2013, to change its city of license from Westcliffe, Colorado to Rock Creek Park (southwest of Colorado Springs) and increase its power from 180 watts to 2,100 watts to serve the Colorado Springs area.Calvary Chapel Aurora agreed to purchase KXCL from United States CP, LLC for $400,000. The purchase was consummated on October 31, 2013. Calvary plans to use KXCL to bring its "Grace FM" programming from KXGR into the Colorado Springs market.

United Airlines Flight 585 was a scheduled passenger flight on March 3, 1991, from Denver to Colorado Springs, Colorado, carrying 20 passengers and 5 crew members on board. The plane experienced a rudder hardover while on final approach to runway 35 at Colorado Springs Municipal Airport, causing the plane to roll over and enter an uncontrolled dive. All 25 people on board were killed. The NTSB was initially unable to resolve the cause of the crash, but after similar accidents and incidents involving Boeing 737 aircraft, the crash was determined to be caused by a defect in the design of the 737's rudder power control unit.: ix 

The Fountain Valley School of Colorado is a private, co-educational independent college preparatory school for students in 9th through 12th grades. The school's primary campus is located on 1,100 acres (445 ha) of rolling prairie at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Old Livery Stable in Fountain, Colorado is a historic stable which was built in 1893 as part of a small hotel complex. It housed horses of hotel guests. With the rise of automobiles such use ended and the stable decayed. The hotel was damaged in a fire in the 1940s, then partially repaired to serve as a rooming house, then demolished to make way for new buildings; only the stable remains. Its NRHP nomination states that the stable is:a vestige of the life and commerce of an earlier day in Fountain. Although vernacular in style, the architecture is of particular interest. The thick, heavy walls; the use of crude stones; the massiveness of the construction; and the integrated use of the dormer and cupola in a stable all reflect a time and a place where there was relatively little architectural knowledge, a time and a place where the builders drew on their rough experiences to build a utilitarian structure to serve the hotel trade. Today the Old Livery Stable stands as a landmark in downtown Fountain.

Widefield High School is a high school in Security-Widefield, Colorado, United States. It opened its doors in 1958 and is the older of the two high schools in Widefield School District 3. Widefield's mascot is the Gladiator and its colors are navy blue, Columbia blue, silver and white.

Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8, shortened as FFC8 or D8, is a public school district serving the southwestern area of El Paso County, Colorado, United States. Its schools are mostly based in Fountain, but it also has schools on the nearby Fort Carson military installation.

S.A. Wilson Elementary School in Security-Widefield, an unincorporated area south of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was built in 1959 and expanded in 1961. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.It was one of six elementary schools in Widefield School District built during 1954 to 1961, during which the district grew from 125 students to more than 3,500 students. The building later became the S.A. Wilson Center, hosting several school district resources.

The Widefield School District 3 is a public school district serving parts of western El Paso County, Colorado, United States. It primarily serves Security-Widefield, but it also serves southeastern Colorado Springs, which is where the district office is located.
