The rivière aux Chiens (English: river of the dogs) flows south, on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence river, in the municipalities of Beaupré and Château-Richer, in the La Côte-de-Beaupré Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province from Quebec, to Canada. It empties into the St. Lawrence River at Beaupré. The lower part of this small valley is served by avenue Royale (route 360) and route 138 which runs along the north shore of St. Lawrence River. The intermediate part has mountainous relief and is accessible only by the Chemin de la d'Auteuil. The upper part is served by a forest road. Forestry is the main economic activity in this valley; agriculture (in the lower plain), second. The surface of the Rivière aux Chiens is generally frozen from the beginning of December until the end of March; however, safe traffic on the ice is generally from mid-December to mid-March. The water level of the river varies with the seasons and the precipitation; the spring flood occurs in March or April.

Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré is a town in La Côte-de-Beaupré Regional County Municipality, Quebec, Canada, along the Saint Lawrence River, 35 kilometers (22 mi) north-east of Quebec City. The population was 2,803 according to the Canada 2006 Census. Major religious landmarks, the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré and the Convent of the Redemptoristines, are located in the town. The basilica continues to attract pilgrims. Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré stands in a rolling agricultural country, with the foothills of the Laurentian Mountains in the background. The first church was built by sailors, seeking protection against shipwrecks off Ile-Oeuf on their way upriver to Quebec City. Saint Anne is the patron saint of sailors.

The Convent of the Redemptoristines (French: Couvent des Rédemptoristines) is a convent in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Québec, Canada, that once was home to nuns of the Redemptoristines order. Owing to its Gothic Revival architecture and importance in the region's religious history, it was added to the Cultural heritage register of Quebec in 2001. A decline in religious vocations resulted in a loss of numbers, and remaining elderly nuns moved to another site in the 1990s. The property was essentially abandoned after being used temporarily for other operations. In 2015, the building was purchased by a real-estate developer and in 2018, converted into apartment type housing.

The Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré (French: Basilique Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré) is a basilica set along the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada, 30 kilometres (19 mi) east of Quebec City, and one of the six national shrines of Canada. It has been credited by the Catholic Church with many miracles of curing the sick and disabled. It is an important Catholic sanctuary, which receives about a half-million pilgrims each year. Since 1933 they have included members of the Anna Fusco Pilgrimage from Connecticut. The peak period of pilgrimage is around July 26, the feast of Saint Anne, the patron saint of sailors.

The Maison Morisset (also known by its nickname "La Brimbale") is a farmhouse built in 1678 during the seigneurial system of New France. Located in the municipality of Sainte-Famille on Île d'Orléans, the Maison Morisset was classified as a historic site and building by the Ministry of Culture and Communications of Quebec on June 7, 1962. It is reputed to be the oldest stone house in the province of Quebec. In addition to its historical and architectural interest, the house has appeared in a large number of books and works of art, including several television appearances. It is on the cover of La Fille Laide by Yves Thériault. In 2024, on the American PBS program Finding Your Roots, it was revealed to be the ancestral family home of Canadian singer Alanis Morissette.

Sainte-Famille-de-l'Île-d'Orléans (Sainte-Famille prior to September 12, 2017) is a municipality in the L'Île-d'Orléans Regional County Municipality, Quebec, Canada, part of the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale. It is situated along the western shores of Island of Orléans. Founded in 1661, Sainte-Famille-de-l'Île-d'Orléans is the oldest settlement on l'île d'Orléans and has one of the most important concentrations of houses of the old French regime.

The road to Saint-Achillée serves the intermediate and upper part. Forestry is the main economic activity in this valley; second-hand tourist activities; agriculture (lower part) third. Maison Drouin (also known as Maison Cyril-Drouin) is a farmhouse located in a rural setting in Sainte-Famille-de-l'Île-d'Orléans, Quebec, Canada. It was built between 1729 and 1730, then extended between 1734 and 1736. One of the oldest houses on Île d'Orléans, it has retained many of its original features over time, having undergone only minor changes since its extension. It bears witness to the pre–Industrial Revolution Quebec lifestyle. It was built by the Canac dit Marquis family, who kept it until 1872 when it passed into the hands of the Drouin family. In 1996, it was purchased by the Fondation François-Lamy, an organization dedicated to preserving the heritage of Île d'Orléans. It has since been converted into a historical interpretation center for Île d'Orléans and opened to the public. It was classified as a heritage building by the Minister of Culture and Communications in 2010, and is part of the Île-d'Orléans heritage site.

Château-Richer is a small town situated in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. Located on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River east of Quebec City. It is the seat for the Côte-de-Beaupré Regional County Municipality. The first rural parish in New France was established in 1678, by the members of La Compagnie-des-Cents-Associés. Château-Richer was the first home to Quebec's oldest families (les Greniers, Giroux, Vachons, Bélangers, Juchereaux, Cloutiers) with descendants remaining to this day. In fact, a fairly large segment of the town's population can be traced back to those enterprising pioneers tasked with establishing a fur-trading post while increasing the population. The town stretches for several miles alongside Route 138. This road, originally known as Le Chemin-du-Roy (The King’s Road) or Le Chemin-Royal (The Royal Road), would later be renamed l’Avenue Royale . It is among the first roads to be built in North America.

Aux Trois Couvents, formerly known as the Centre d'interprétation de la Côte-de-Beaupré (CICB), located in Château-Richer, is recognized as a museum of La Côte-de-Beaupré by the regional county municipality since 1996. It is also a part of the Route de la Nouvelle-France group, one of the oldest roads of Quebec.

Île d'Orléans (French pronunciation: [il d‿ɔʁleɑ̃]; English: Island of Orleans) is an island located in the Saint Lawrence River about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) east of downtown Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. It was one of the first parts of the province to be colonized by the French, and a large percentage of French Canadians can trace ancestry to early residents of the island. The island has been described as the "microcosm of traditional Quebec and as the birthplace of francophones in North America."It has about 7,000 inhabitants, spread over 6 villages. The island is accessible from the mainland via the Île d'Orléans Bridge from Beauport. Route 368 is the sole provincial route on the island, which crosses the bridge and circles the perimeter of the island. At the village of Sainte-Pétronille toward the western end of the island, a viewpoint overlooks the impressive Chute Montmorency (Montmorency Falls), as well as a panorama of the St. Lawrence River and Quebec City.

The Chemin de la Mine, the Montée des Hirondelles and the Montée des Chênes serve the intermediate part to the foot of the moraine. The upper part has mountainous relief and some secondary forest roads, including Chemin Beauséjour, are accessible. Forestry is the main economic activity in this valley; agriculture (lower part) second.
