Kriváň (Hungarian: Krivány) is a village and municipality in Detva District, in the Banská Bystrica Region of central Slovakia. It lies on the road track I/50, approximately in the halfway between Bratislava and Košice. The village had been established in 1955.

Poľana Mountains Protected Landscape Area (Slovak: Chránená krajinná oblasť Poľana) is one of the 14 protected landscape areas in Slovakia. The Landscape Area is situated in the Poľana Mountains, part of the Slovenské stredohorie Mountains, in Central Slovakia. It is situated in the Banská Bystrica, Brezno, Detva, and Zvolen districts. Poľana was declared a UNESCO biosphere reserve on 27 March 1990.

Ponitrie Protected Landscape Area (Slovak: Chránená krajinná oblasť Ponitrie) is one of the 14 protected landscape areas in Slovakia. The Landscape Area is situated in the Tribeč and Vtáčnik mountains, in western Slovakia. It is situated in the Nitra, Zlaté Moravce, Žarnovica, Topoľčany, Partizánske and Prievidza districts.

Píla (Hungarian: Fűrész) is a village and municipality in the Lučenec District in the Banská Bystrica Region of Slovakia.

Poľana is a small mountain range in central Slovakia. It lies in the north-eastern part of the Slovak Central Mountains. The highest hill is Poľana - an inactive stratovolcano - at 1,458 m (4,873 ft) ASL. The mountain range is bordered by Slovak Ore Mountains in the east, more precisely its subdivision the Vepor Mountains, and by the Zvolen Basin in the south and west. Since 1981 the mountain range is protected by the Poľana Protected Landscape Area. Municipalities nearby include Hrochoť, Očová, Detva, Hriňová and Ľubietová.

Mýtna (Hungarian: Vámosfalva) is a village and municipality in the Lučenec District in the Banská Bystrica Region of Slovakia. Mýtna was already settled in the prehistorical era - some scientists supposed that people already lived here in the younger Bronze Age probably 3,000 years ago. In the 7th century came Avars and then Slavs. The first mention of that village comes from 14th century (1393) called 'Wamuslehutaya' it means toll (duty) village. In 1467 'Wamosfalva' and in 1773 had nearly the present name but with i 'Mitna'. That name likely comes from 1423 when there was just several houses, and the toll house which served to pay a toll (duty) because of using the way from Zvolen to Lučenec. 2 km away lies the Castle of Divin which took the toll. In 1467 Mýtna already belonged under the Castle. Gradual settlement in the Valley of Kriváň creek came from the north and northwest and was completed settlement in the surrounding mountains in the 19th and 20th century. The village at present introduces an entrance gateway for traveling in the northwest region of Novohrad. It already has all offer of shops and services not only for own residents but also for a visitors.
