Detva

Detva District (Slovak: okres Detva) is a district of the Banská Bystrica Region in central Slovakia. Until 1918, most of the area belonged to the Zvolen county, apart from Látky, Podkriváň and Horný Tisovník in the south and east which formed part of the county of Nógrád.

Kriváň (Hungarian: Krivány) is a village and municipality in Detva District, in the Banská Bystrica Region of central Slovakia. It lies on the road track I/50, approximately in the halfway between Bratislava and Košice. The village had been established in 1955.

Poľana Mountains Protected Landscape Area (Slovak: Chránená krajinná oblasť Poľana) is one of the 14 protected landscape areas in Slovakia. The Landscape Area is situated in the Poľana Mountains, part of the Slovenské stredohorie Mountains, in Central Slovakia. It is situated in the Banská Bystrica, Brezno, Detva, and Zvolen districts. Poľana was declared a UNESCO biosphere reserve on 27 March 1990.

Ponitrie Protected Landscape Area (Slovak: Chránená krajinná oblasť Ponitrie) is one of the 14 protected landscape areas in Slovakia. The Landscape Area is situated in the Tribeč and Vtáčnik mountains, in western Slovakia. It is situated in the Nitra, Zlaté Moravce, Žarnovica, Topoľčany, Partizánske and Prievidza districts.

Poľana is a small mountain range in central Slovakia. It lies in the north-eastern part of the Slovak Central Mountains. The highest hill is Poľana - an inactive stratovolcano - at 1,458 m (4,873 ft) ASL. The mountain range is bordered by Slovak Ore Mountains in the east, more precisely its subdivision the Vepor Mountains, and by the Zvolen Basin in the south and west. Since 1981 the mountain range is protected by the Poľana Protected Landscape Area. Municipalities nearby include Hrochoť, Očová, Detva, Hriňová and Ľubietová.
