The Charland River is a tributary of the northwest shore of the St. Lawrence River, flowing in the municipality of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, in the Agglomération de Québec, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province from Quebec, to Canada. The Charland river valley is mainly served by route 138 (north), chemin du Roy (south) and rue du Brome (along the upper part of the river), especially for the needs of agriculture and residents of the urban area of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, are the two main economic activities in this area.The surface of the Charland River (except the rapids areas) is generally frozen from the beginning of December to the end of March; safe circulation on the ice is generally done from the end of December to the beginning of March. The water level of the river varies with the seasons and the precipitation; the spring flood occurs in March or April.

Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures is a city in central Quebec, Canada, on the Saint Lawrence River, adjacent to Quebec City. The town was founded in 1691 by three families (Desroches, Racette, Couture). It was merged with Quebec City on January 1, 2002 as part of the 2000–2006 municipal reorganization in Quebec and became part of the Laurentien borough of that city. However, after a 2004 referendum it was re-established as a separate city on January 1, 2006. The local post office was previously named Saint-Augustin-de-Portneuf from 1852, then Saint-Augustin-de-Québec from 1918 until this was renamed to the community's current name in 1986.

The Saint-Nicolas Heritage Site (French: site du patrimoine de Saint-Nicolas) is a small municipal historic district located in the western part of Lévis, Quebec. It encompasses a group of a half-dozen properties and their dependencies that developed around the estate of a major family. Most of the buildings date from the 19th century, with the oldest dating from the mid-18th century. Two of them were later separately designated historic monuments (French: monuments historiques) at the provincial level. The site was the second designated in the province.

Cap-Rouge is a former city in central Quebec, Canada, since 2002 within the borough Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge in Quebec City. The site of the first attempted permanent French settlement in North America, Charlesbourg-Royal, is located at the confluence of the Rivière du Cap Rouge and the Saint Lawrence River. Its population was 13,153 as of the Canada 2011 Census.

The Cap-Rouge trestle (French: Tracel de Cap-Rouge) is a railway trestle bridge inaugurated in 1908 and still in use in the community of Cap-Rouge, part of the borough of Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. It was commissioned in 1906 as a section of the National Transcontinental Railway to span the Rivière du Cap Rouge valley and connect the eastbound railway with the newly built and nearby Quebec Bridge. It was built as a steel structure by the Dominion Bridge Company at a total cost of 800 000 Canadian dollars.At 173 feet (53 m), it is one of the highest structures on which trains are operated in the province of Quebec and as such, has become over the years an attractive location for trespassers. As a response, its points of access have been fenced and a video surveillance system installed. As of October 2018, it is only used by freight trains, at the relatively slow speed of approximately 12 miles per hour (19 km/h).

The Collège de Champigny is a private secondary school. Founded by the Sacred Heart Brothers in 1969, it was established to provide education to everyone, according to the wishes of Father André Coindre, its founder. It is the only private school in L'Ancienne-Lorette and in the Sainte-Foy sector of Québec City. From 1945 to 1967, the mission of the Sacred Heart Brothers in the college was to form future priests and brothers. Part of the building still houses the brothers and former professors.
