San Lazaro Hospital

José R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center's operations started in 1945 in Manila, Philippines as a 450-bed facility known as City Children's Hospital, housed in a borrowed school building and was managed by Fe del Mundo. It was transformed into an emergency hospital to give care to the wounded during the Battle of Liberation in Manila.

It is notable for having a commercial hub for medical and laboratory supplies within its vicinity.

Espiritu Santo Parish, now known as the Archdiocesan Shrine of Espiritu Santo, is a Roman Catholic parish belonging to the Archdiocese of Manila that is located at 1912 Rizal Avenue corner Tayuman Street, Santa Cruz, Manila, Philippines. It was declared an Archdiocesan Shrine by Manila Archbishop Emeritus Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle on June 8, 2014, the Solemnity of the Pentecost. Rev. Msgr. Eymard Dennis Peter Marcelino S. Odiver, PC is the current parish priest and rector of the church since 2022.

Tayuman Street is a four-lane east-west street in northern Manila, Philippines. It stretches 1.6 kilometers (0.99 mi) from the former San Lazaro Hippodrome in Santa Cruz to Barrio Pritil in Tondo district. The street is designated as part of Circumferential Road 2. Tayuman begins at an intersection with Lacson Avenue in Santa Cruz district fronting SM City San Lazaro. It crosses Rizal Avenue, passing underneath the Tayuman LRT Station where it continues past the headquarters of the Department of Health into the residential areas of Santa Cruz and Tondo. The street ends at Juan Luna Street near Puregold Tayuman supermarket and extends west towards Manila North Harbor in Tondo as Capulong Street. The street was named after tayum, a type of indigo plant.

From October 8 to 9 2022, the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) led a law enforcement operations in Manila and Pasig which led to the seizure of about 990 kilograms (2,180 lb) of illegal drugs. This led to the arrest of several people including PDEG member Rodolfo Mayo Jr. bringing to public attention the alleged involvement of police officers in the illegal drug trade.

Metropolitan Medical Center (simplified Chinese: 光坦纪念医院; traditional Chinese: 光坦紀念醫院; pinyin: Guāngtǎn Jìniàn Yīyuàn; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Kng-tháⁿ Kì-liām I-īⁿ; abbreviated as MMC) is a private tertiary hospital located at G. Masangkay Street in Santa Cruz, Manila. The hospital is based in a 27-storey medical tower, and is fully equipped with diagnostic equipment and a fully automated diagnostic laboratory. It is staffed by more than 300 doctors. A wide range of specialties are covered up to tertiary care level, including internal medicine, endoscopy, surgery (including bariatric surgery and renal transplantation), dentistry, obstetrics and gynecology, dermatology and physical rehabilitation. The hospital has interests in developing medical tourism. As of early 2008, the Chief Executive Officer was Dr. Joel Beltran, MD. Currently the hospital is not subject to international healthcare accreditation, whether sourced from the USA, the United Kingdom or Australia.

The Metropolitan Medical Center College of Arts, Science and Technology or (MMC-CAST) is a school of nursing located in Santa Cruz, Manila, Philippines. It was founded in 1976, and is owned and operated by the United Doctors Association, which is an affiliate of the Metropolitan Medical Center.

Abad Santos Avenue is a major north–south arterial road located in the district of Tondo in northern Manila, Philippines. It is a divided roadway with four lanes in each direction running through the eastern edge of Tondo from the intersection with Rizal Avenue near the Manila Chinese Cemetery at its north end to Recto Avenue near the Tutuban railway station at the district boundary of Tondo and Binondo at the south.
