Stoke Ferry is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, 6.5 miles southeast of Downham Market. The village lies on the River Wissey, previously known as the River Stoke. It covers an area of 9.15 km2 (3.53 sq mi) and had a population of 896 in 358 households as of the 2001 UK Census, the population increasing to 1,020 at the 2011 UK Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. All Saints' Church, a Grade II listed building, was rebuilt by William Donthorn. It is no longer used for church services and was owned by Kit Hesketh-Harvey until his death in 2023. The village has many small businesses such as two takeaway shops, a hairdresser, wood yard, DIY hardware shop & metalworks workshop, funeral directors, and a corner shop. There is also a thriving community-owned pub, The Blue Bell Pub-Cafe which was bought by the local community on 30 June 2021 and, after extensive refurbishment reopened on 4 June 2022. Stoke Ferry Hall is a Grade II* listed building.

The village is 44.4 miles (71.5 km) west of Norwich, 15.1 miles (24.3 km) south-south-east of King's Lynn and 97.7 miles (157.2 km) north-east of London. The nearest town is Downham Market which is 7.3 miles (11.7 km) west of the village.

Boughton Fen is a 15.7-hectare (39-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Downham Market in Norfolk, England. it is common land registered to Boughton Parish Council. This valley in a tributary of the River Wissey is covered by tall fen over most of the site, together with areas of scrub which provide a habitat for breeding birds. There are many uncommon species of moths, including the rare Perizoma sagittaria. There is access to the site from Oxborough Road.

Wretton is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 4.7 km2 (1.8 sq mi) and had a population of 392 in 155 households at the 2001 census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. The villages name means "Crosswort/hellebore farm/settlement". It is situated 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Downham Market, 16 miles (26 km) south of King's Lynn and 40 miles (64 km) west of Norwich. Also 1.5 miles (2.4 km) North of the larger village of Stoke Ferry.

Francis Fane, 1st Earl of Westmorland (1 February 1580 – 23 March 1629), (styled Sir Francis Fane between 1603 and 1624) of Mereworth in Kent and of Apethorpe in Northamptonshire was an English landowner and politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1601 and 1624 and then was raised to the Peerage as Earl of Westmorland.

Slevesholm Priory was a Cluniac priory in the civil parish of Methwold, Norfolk, England, that was dedicated to St. Mary and St. Giles. A cell of the Castle Acre Priory, Slevesholm Priory was either granted by William de Warenne, 5th Earl of Surrey between 1222-6 or established during the reign of king Stephen (1135–1154), and dissolved in 1537 during the dissolution of the monasteries. There are no extant remains of the priory; Historic England undertook field research in 1976 and remarked: "There are no physical remains of this [priory] at the formerly published site which is now under plough; farm workers questioned had no knowledge of early finds or foundations. [There is] impression of early quarrying [while] no recognisable pattern is evident and there is no surface trace of building material."Upon its dissolution it was granted to the Mundefords of Feltwell. Francis Blomefield in his An Essay Towards a Topographical History of the County of Norfolk (volume 2, 1805) writes the following succession of owners: "Francis, son of Osbert Mundeford, had livery of it in the 23d of Elizabeth [1581]. In 1600, Edmund Mundeford held it. After this we find it possessed by Captain Smith of Croxton, who conveyed it to Edward-Saunders Seabright; and Sir Thomas Seabright, Bart. died possessed of it in 1736."

Wretton SSSI is a 20.6-hectare (51-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-east of Downham Market in Norfolk. It is a Geological Conservation Review site. This site exposes layer across the transition between the warm Ipswichian and the colder Devensian around 115,000 years ago. It has the richest assemblage of early Devensian vertebrate fossils in Britain, including arctic fox, bison and woolly rhinoceros. A footpath runs along the boundary of part of the site.

The River Gadder is 10.4 km (6.5 mi) long tributary of the River Wissey. It rises from a tiny headwater in the north-east of the parish of Cockley Cley in the English county of Norfolk. The river rises in a watermeadow 0.6 miles (0.97 km) north east of Home Farm.

Wereham is a small village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk.

Winnold House, formerly the Benedictine Priory of St Winwaloe, is a country house in the parish of Wereham in Norfolk, England. The house is constructed from the remaining fragments of a former Benedictine priory. The priory was founded in 1199 and was dissolved in 1321. It was demolished in 1539, and the surviving fragments were incorporated into a house sometime in the 17th century; it was rebuilt in the mid-19th century. It is a Grade II* listed building.

RAF Barton Bendish was an airfield for the Royal Air Force located on the far side of the Downham Market to Swaffham road from its parent station, RAF Marham. It was built because at the outbreak of the Second World War it was considered important for bomber stations to have a satellite airfield. The only aircraft known to have operated out of Barton Bendish were Vickers Wellington bombers from Marham. It was abandoned in 1942, as it was considered too close to the parent station to be developed further. No. 26 Squadron RAF. No. 268 Squadron RAF.
