East 162nd Avenue station is a MAX light rail station on the boundary between Portland and Gresham in Oregon, USA. It serves the Blue Line and is the 18th stop eastbound on the current Eastside MAX branch. The station is at the intersection of East Burnside Street and NE/SE 162nd Avenue. It has staggered side platforms, which sit on either side of the cross street. Trains operate in the median of Burnside Street and the two platforms are located immediately after a train crosses 162nd Avenue, in both directions.

Powell Butte is an extinct cinder cone butte in Portland, Oregon, United States. It is part of the Boring Lava Field, which includes more than 80 small volcanic edifices and lava flows in the Portland–Vancouver metropolitan area. The region around Powell Butte has a cool climate, and the butte and its surroundings feature meadows, rivers, and mixed forests. Powell Butte hosts the Powell Butte Nature Park, which includes about 612 acres (2.48 km2) of trails for biking, hiking, and horseback riding. Powell Butte lies within historic territory of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon. The land surrounding the butte has been used for an orchard and dairy farming. Today two underground reservoirs at the Butte each hold 50,000,000 US gallons (190,000,000 L) of fresh water as a primary part of the public water system for Portland and much of the surrounding region.

United Airlines Flight 173 was a scheduled flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City to Portland International Airport in Portland, Oregon, with a scheduled stop in Denver, Colorado. On December 28, 1978, the aircraft flying this route ran out of fuel while troubleshooting a landing gear problem and crashed in a suburban Portland neighborhood near NE 157th Avenue and East Burnside Street, killing 10 on board.

Glenfair is a small neighborhood spanning the Northeast and Southeast sections of Portland, Oregon, on the city's eastern border with Gresham. Its boundaries are NE Glisan Street, 148th Avenue, SE Stark, and 161st Street. The neighborhood's major attraction is Glenfair Park. The Glenfair Community Garden exists on 143rd Avenue and E Burnside. In late 1978, United Airlines Flight 173, a DC-8 arriving from New York and Denver, crash-landed at Burnside and 157th after running out of fuel while attempting to rectify a landing gear issue. Ten on board were killed with no casualties on the ground.Glenfair is home to the largest Hispanic population of Portland, making up 31.4% of the population.

East 172nd Avenue station is a MAX light rail station in Gresham, Oregon. It serves the Blue Line and is the 19th stop eastbound on the eastside MAX line. The MAX system is owned and operated by TriMet, the major transit agency for the Portland metropolitan area. The station is at the intersection of East Burnside Street and NE/SE 172nd Avenue. This station has staggered side platforms, which sit on either side of the cross street, because the route runs around this station on Burnside Street in the median. The station was located in TriMet fare zone 3 from its opening in 1986 until September 2012, at which time TriMet discontinued all use of zones in its fare structure.
