Thria (Attica)

Aspropyrgos (Greek: Ασπρόπυργος) is located in the Athens metropolitan area, is a town and a municipality in the West Attica regional unit, in Attica, Greece. The municipality had a population of 30,251 at the 2011 census. It has an area of 101.983 km2.

The Aspropyrgos Refinery is an oil refining complex located near Aspropyrgos, a suburb of Athens, in Greece. It is operated by Hellenic Petroleum. The refinery has a nominal annual refining capacity of 7.5 million tons (285,000 barrels per day (45,300 m3/d)).

The Thriasio Plain (Greek: Θριάσιο Πεδίο, romanized: Thriasio Pedio) is a plain in western Attica within Athens metropolitan area in Greece. It is bounded by Mount Egaleo to the east, Mount Parnitha to the north, Mount Pateras to the west, and the Bay of Elefsina to the south.

Aspropyrgos Railway Station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Ασπροπύργου, romanized: Sidirodromikós Stathmós Aspropýrgou) is a train station in the municipality of Aspropyrgos, West Attica, Greece. The station is located north of the residential area, on the Athens Airport–Patras railway. The station is served by the Athens Suburban Railway between Piraeus and Kiato. It is located adjacent to the Thriasian Plain freight yard owned by OSE.

Coprus or Kopros (Ancient Greek: Κόπρος) was a deme of ancient Athens, of the phyle of Hippothontis, sending two delegates to the Athenian Boule. One of the characters of Aristophanes's The Knights is from this deme. Its site is located near east of Eleusis.

Elefsina Air Base (ICAO: LGEL) (Greek: Αεροπορική Βάση Ελευσίνας) is a military air base situated in Elefsina, Greece. It is used as the home-base of the 112th Combat Wing (112 Πτέρυγα Μάχης, 112 ΠΜ) of the Hellenic Air Force.

Cothocidae or Kothokidai (Ancient Greek: Κοθωκίδαι) was a deme of ancient Attica, originally of the phyle of Oeneis, but between 307/306 BCE and 201/200 BCE of the phyle of Demetrias, sending two delegates to the Athenian Boule.Its site is tentatively located near Ag. Ioannes, north of modern Aspropyrgos.

Skaramagas (also spelled Skaramangas; Greek: Σκαραμαγκάς) is a port town in the western part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. It is part of the municipality of Haidari. It is known for its large shipyard. It took its name by the Chiot merchant Amvrosios Skaramagas.

Cettus or Kettos (Ancient Greek: Κηττός) was a deme, or suburb, of ancient Attica of the phyle of Leontis, sending three or four delegates to the Boule.Its site is tentatively located near modern Daphni.

Oea or Oia (Ancient Greek: Ὀία) or Oee or Oie (Οἴη) or Oe (Ὄη or Ὀή) was a deme of ancient Athens. The location of Oea has been a matter of debate, with some situating it above the Pythium, to the west of Mount Aegaleos, to the north of the pass of Poecilum, and recent work putting the site northeast of Aspropyrgos.In the Boule of 500, Oea held six seats, and the deme seems to have maintained this rough scale into the Roman period.

The Daphni Cave is a cave in Attica, Greece, that was sacred to the god Pan. It is located near the Byzantine monastery.

Daphni or Dafni (Modern Greek: Δαφνί; Katharevousa: Δαφνίον, Daphnion) is an eleventh-century Byzantine monastery eleven kilometers (6.8 miles) northwest of central Athens in the suburb of Chaidari, south of Athinon Avenue (GR-8A). It is situated near the forest of the same name, on the Sacred Way that led to Eleusis. The forest covers about 18 km2 (7 sq mi), and surrounds a laurel grove. "Daphni" is the modern Greek name that means "laurel grove", derived from Daphneion (Lauretum).The Daphni Monastery, along with the famous monasteries of Hosios Loukas near Delphi and Nea Moni on the island of Chios, are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites for their significant historical and architectural value. These monasteries are famed as masterpieces of middle Byzantine architecture, and are especially noted for their sumptuous interior gold-ground mosaics.
