Grand Central Station was a passenger railroad terminal in downtown Chicago, Illinois, from 1890 to 1969. It was located at 201 West Harrison Street on a block bounded by Harrison, Wells and Polk Streets and the Chicago River in the southwestern portion of the Chicago Loop. Grand Central Station was designed by architect Solon Spencer Beman for the Wisconsin Central Railroad (WC), and was completed by the Chicago and Northern Pacific Railroad. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad purchased the station in 1910 and used it as the Chicago terminus for its passenger rail service, including its Capitol Limited service to Washington, D.C. Major tenant railroads included the Soo Line Railroad, successor to the Wisconsin Central, the Chicago Great Western Railway, and the Pere Marquette Railway. The station opened December 8, 1890, closed November 8, 1969, and was demolished in 1971.

River City is a mixed-use building at 800 South Wells Street in Chicago, Illinois. It was designed by Bertrand Goldberg, to whose Marina City it bears clear affinities, and was completed in 1986 in the South Loop neighborhood of Chicago.

LaSalle Street Station is a commuter rail terminal at 414 South LaSalle Street in downtown Chicago. First used as a rail terminal in 1852, it was a major intercity rail terminal for the New York Central Railroad until 1968, and for the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad until 1978, but now serves only Metra's Rock Island District. The present structure became the fifth station on the site when its predecessor was demolished in 1981 and replaced by the new station and the One Financial Place (now 425 South Financial Place) tower for the Chicago Stock Exchange. The Chicago Board of Trade Building, Willis Tower and Harold Washington Library are nearby.

South Loop Printing House District is a historic district in the downtown Chicago Loop area of Chicago, Illinois. The district is roughly bounded by Congress, Polk, State, Taylor, and Wells Streets and includes 28 contributing buildings. The district includes many of the printing buildings used by Chicago's printing industry, the largest in the midwest from the 1880s through the 1930s. Due to its proximity to Dearborn Station and its thin property blocks that allowed for tall and thin printing buildings, land in the district was attractive to large printing companies. The district includes a small number of large and detailed buildings and many more small, homogeneous buildings used by less prominent printing firms.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It is distinct from the Printing House Row District (also known as South Dearborn Street-Printing House Row Historic District), another district which includes significant buildings from Chicago's printing industry. Properties included in the district that are separately listed on the National Register include the Pontiac Building and the Manhattan Building.

Everest was a French restaurant run by Jean Joho in Chicago for over 30 years. First opened in October 1986, it was located on the 40th floor of 425 South Financial Place, and served Alsatian cuisine. The restaurant had earned one Michelin star.It closed at the end of 2020, though the COVID-19 pandemic was a cause of its closing.

425 South Financial Place (formerly known as FOUR40 prior to 2017, and as One Financial Place prior) is a 515 ft (157 m) tall skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois. It was completed in 1985 and has 40 floors. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill designed the building. It ranks 78th on the list of tallest buildings in Chicago. In 2018, owner CIM Group completed renovations to the building.425 South Financial Place houses the Chicago Stock Exchange. There is a boutique hotel on the top floor. 425 South Financial Place was the home of Michelin-starred restaurant Everest before it closed in 2020. LaSalle Street Station is attached to the building.

235 Van Buren is a high-rise condominium building located in Chicago's Loop neighborhood near the Willis Tower and the 311 South Wacker Drive Building. The 46 story skyscraper was designed by Perkins & Will and built by CMK Companies, a Chicago-based real estate development company. As the building's name suggests, it is located at 235 West Van Buren Street adjacent to the Chicago River at the eastern terminus of Eisenhower Expressway. Completed in January 2010, it is a residential building with 714 condominium units, an 11-story, 570-spot parking garage, as well as approximately 10,000 sq. ft. of retail space located on the building's first two floors. The building is currently home to the South Loop Market, Van Buren Gentlemen's Salon, and the 235 Van Buren On-Site Sales Center. Each residence has modern interiors with floor-to-ceiling windows, 10 foot ceilings, and exposed concrete accents. The building has 1 to 3 bedroom condos. It also has a penthouse on the top floor which was featured on an episode of HGTV's House Hunters TV Show.
