Osmondthorpe a district of east Leeds in West Yorkshire, England is considered part of the Halton Moor district.It is situated in the LS9 Leeds postcode area, two miles (3 km) to the east of Leeds city centre between East End Park and Halton Moor. The district is part of the Burmantofts and Richmond Hill Ward of the Leeds Metropolitan Council. It was originally a hamlet 3.5 miles SE of Leeds associated with the township of Temple Newsam and in the Whitkirk parish with some coal working. Ralph Thoresby visited Osmondthorpe Hall, which stood on the West side of Osmondthorpe Lane, but was destroyed by fire in 1924. Some 50 acres of the grounds were used to create East End Park and the rest for housing.Osmondthorpe railway station was opened by the London & North Eastern Railway on the Selby Line in 1930 to serve a new estate of housing, but closed in 1960. Osmondthorpe is home to the Neville Hill railway depot.

Cross Green is a mainly industrial area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is around 1 mile (1.6 km) on a hill to the south east of Leeds city centre, with the A63 road (Pontefract Lane) running through the middle and dividing it into a residential estate with playing fields and housing to the north, and a large industrial estate to the south. The area lies in the LS9 Leeds postcode area between Osmondthorpe, Richmond Hill and Hunslet.

Harehills is an inner-city area of east Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) north east of Leeds city centre. Harehills is situated between the A58 (towards Wetherby) and the A64 (towards York). It sits in the Gipton & Harehills ward of Leeds City Council and the Leeds East parliamentary constituency, between Burmantofts and Gipton, and adjacent to Chapeltown. Its boundaries are defined by the city council as "the boundary of Spencer Place to the West, Harehills Avenue to the North, the boundary of Foundry Place to the East and Compton Road and Stanley Road to the South." As the name suggests, it is a hill area, basically a south-facing slope, with many streets of terraced houses on hills. In the middle is Banstead Park, a grassy slope with trees and play areas, giving a view over the city of Leeds. There are two main shopping streets, Harehills Lane and Harehills Road which join at the junction of Roundhay Road (A58 road) leading to Oakwood. Also, heading 0.6 miles (1 km) up Harehills Lane towards the A64 York Road at the junction with Compton Road, is Harehills's other main shopping area. St James' University Hospital is situated in Harehills. Since the 1890s, cheap housing has made it attractive to immigrants, with the result that it has a considerable cultural and ethnic mixture. Harehills has high levels of unemployment in relation to Leeds and the rest of the UK.On the August Bank Holiday the Leeds Carnival is held with a procession through Harehills and Chapeltown.

Thwaite Mills is an industrial museum in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is a fully restored working water-powered mill built in 1823-25, harnessing the power of the River Aire, and claims to be "one of the best last remaining examples of a water-powered mill in Britain". It is administered by Leeds City Council through Leeds Museums & Galleries. The mill, the manager's house and three associated buildings are all grade II listed buildings.

Osmondthorpe was a railway station between Leeds and Cross Gates on the Leeds to York Line (part of the Cross Country Route). It was opened as Osmondthorpe Halt by the London and North Eastern Railway in September 1930 to serve new estates being built in the area. The station was of timber construction and was built without goods facilities. After May 1937, the word Halt was dropped from the station name.The station was closed in March 1960.

Burmantofts is an area of 1960s high-rise housing blocks in inner-city east Leeds, West Yorkshire, England adjacent to the city centre and St. James's Hospital. It is a racially diverse area, with sizable Afro-Caribbean and Irish communities, but suffers the social problems typical of similar areas across the country. From 1859 to 1957 Burmantofts was the home of Burmantofts Pottery, a manufacturer of ceramic pipes and construction materials. In the early 20th century, Burmantofts was a large centre of the textile industry. A Burtons textile factory was located in the area; it is still owned by Burtons, but today is being used as a storage facility.

Richmond Hill Tunnel is a railway tunnel to the east of Leeds city centre, in West Yorkshire, England. The tunnel is known to be the first in the world specifically designed to carry passengers to be worked by steam trains rather than a stationary engine. One of the innovative methods employed to reassure passengers going through the lightless tunnel, was to place copper sheets underneath the air shafts which were intended to reflect the light around the tunnel. The original Richmond Hill Tunnel was 700 yards (640 m) long, but in 1894, it was widened into a cutting with a shorter tunnel, which is the existing structure in use today. The present Richmond Hill Tunnel is 118 yards (108 m) long, and is part of the longer Marsh Lane Cutting, which connects the eastward entrance and exit into Leeds railway station to the lines going towards Selby and York. The railway line through Richmond Hill is part of the TransPennine Line which connects Manchester and Leeds, with Selby, York and Hull.

St. Agnes' Church in Burmantofts, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England is an active Anglican parish church in the archdeaconry of Leeds and the Diocese of Leeds.

Beckett Street Cemetery (also known as Burmantofts Cemetery) is a closed cemetery in Burmantofts, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Founded in 1842, the site was officially opened in 1845 and is recognised as being one of England's first municipal burial sites (Hunslet Cemetery, also in Leeds, opened one month earlier). Although the cemetery was closed to interments in 2001, it remains open for visitors, and has two listed structures besides being a listed park itself.

Knowsthorpe, Knostrop or Knostropp is an area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, on the River Aire. The spelling "Knostrop" is predominantly used for the large water treatment works in the area. Atkinson Grimshaw painted Knostrop Cut, Leeds, Sunday Night, 1893. The area falls within Temple Newsam ward of Leeds City Council.

Lincoln Green is a mainly residential area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England around Lincoln Green Road, and is adjacent to and southwest of St James's University Hospital. It falls within the Burmantofts and Richmond Hill ward of the City of Leeds Council. The area was given this name in 1954, at the start of major redevelopment by the City Council.The Lincoln Green estate on the north side of Lincoln Green Road is mainly tower blocks and low-rise flats, which replaced the terraced houses known as New Town in about 1958, following the 1950s slum clearances. On the south side of Lincoln Green Road is the Lincoln Green Shopping Centre, opened by celebrity Pat Phoenix (Elsie Tanner from Coronation Street) and community buildings and low-rise housing. There are two places of worship, the Lincoln Green Mosque, and the Christian Achiever's Faith chapel in a room above shops on Cherry Row. The one pub, the Harp, closed in June 2016: it was said to be the last genuine Irish pub in the city. A Working men's club closed in 2013 and is now demolished with plans for a supermarket on the site.Lincoln Green was one of the locations which featured in the three-part BBC series Forgotten Britain, a programme which saw Fergal Keane going to a number of struggling communities across Britain. Keane returned to the estate in 2012 and 2022 to catch up with the people he met the first time around, with the second visit becoming part of Alice Doyard's 2023 documentary Brave Britain with Fergal Keane, as broadcast by BBC One. In addition to these BBC productions, Lincoln Green was also featured in the 2009 ITV programme Seven Days on the Breadline.
