The Vienna Central Cemetery (German: Wiener Zentralfriedhof) is one of the largest cemeteries in the world by number of interred, and is the most well-known cemetery among Vienna's nearly 50 cemeteries. The cemetery's name is descriptive of its significance as Vienna's biggest cemetery, not of its geographic location, as it is not in the city center of the Austrian capital, but on the southern outskirts, in the outer city district of Simmering.

Pietro Nobile was an Austro-Hungarian Neoclassicist architect and builder born in Campestro (Capriasca), Switzerland, 11 November 1774 – Vienna, Austria, 7 November 1854. He is regarded as one of the most prominent architects of the late classicism in Vienna, and the leading architect of the Habsburg court. His father moved the family to Trieste where the young Pietro attended school. He continued to be educated in Rome by Antonio Canova between 1801 and 1806.In 1807, he was appointed engineer office for construction in charge of Trieste, Istria, Aquileia and Gorizia. In 1810, he was officially appointed chief engineer for construction of bridges and roads in the Illyrian coast in Istria. He designed the coastal road from Koper to Pula, made new plans, sketches and drawings of monuments such as the Pula Arena, the Temple of Augustus and the Arch of the Sergii. He also designed St. Peter's Church standing on Tartini Square in Piran, Slovenia and Sant'Antonio Taumaturgo, Trieste. For the protection of monuments in Pula he did more than anyone else before him. In 1819, he became head of the department of architecture at the Vienna Academy. His grave is located in Vienna's Zentralfriedhof (section 14 A, No. 46 A), transferred from St. Marx Cemetery. In 1894, Vienna Penzing (14th District) and Rudolf Fünfhaus (15th District), and the Nobilegasse were named after him.

Feuerhalle Simmering is a crematorium with attached urn burial ground in the Simmering district of Vienna, Austria. It lies at the end of an alley, directly opposite Vienna Central Cemetery's main gate.

Neugebäude Palace (German: Schloss Neugebäude) is a large Mannerist castle complex in the Simmering district of Vienna, Austria. It was built from 1569 onwards, at the behest of the Habsburg Emperor Maximilian II. The site of the palace is said to be where the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent's tent was erected during the 1529 Siege of Vienna. The palace was apparently modeled after it.It fell into disuse already in the 17th century and today stands in ruins. Protected as a historical monument since the 1970s, there are various efforts to restore the site.In 1922, Clemens Holzmeister's architectural designs for Austria's first crematorium placed Feuerhalle Simmering into the walled gardens of the derelict Schloss Neugebäude, thus putting the former palace gardens with its many ancient trees (designated natural monuments) to new use as urn burial ground.

Simmeringer Had is a stadium in Vienna, Austria with a capacity of 5,000 people. There have been three stadiums with the name, all of which have hosted the 1. Simmeringer SC Austrian football club since 1900. The largest and most important of these stadiums also hosted the Austria national team during the 1920s. The current stadium dates to the 1970s. The name derives from the Simmeringer Haide, a low-lying region of Vienna where the Had was originally geographically located.

The Filial Church Hasenleiten (German: Filialkirche Hasenleiten or Filialkirche Zum Göttlichen Kinderfreund) is one of the Roman Catholic churches in Vienna's 11th district of Simmering dedicated to St. John Maria Vianney, and is a listed monument. On April 1, 2018, the parish of Hasenleiten was merged with the parishes of Neusimmering and St. Luke (German: Pfarrkirche Neusimmering and Pfarrkirche St. Lukas) to form the Parish of the Divine Love (German: Pfarre zur Göttlichen Liebe). Since then, the Parish Church Hasenleiten has been a Filial Church of the Parish of Divine Love, and a church of the subparish of Hasenleiten.

Wien Simmering (German for Vienna Simmering) is a railway station located in the Simmering district of Vienna, Austria. Opened in 1976, it is owned and operated by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), and is served by international, regional and S-Bahn trains. Underneath the station is the Simmering U-Bahn station, which is the southeastern terminus of U3 of the Vienna U-Bahn.

It borders the Danube and was established as a district in 1892. Simmering has several churches, some museums, schools, old castles, and four cemeteries, one of them being the Wiener Zentralfriedhof, one of the largest cemeteries of Europe.

The Wiener Internationale Gartenschau 74 (English: Vienna International Garden Show 74), often shortened to WIG 74, was a garden festival held in Vienna, Austria. Recognised by the Bureau International des Expositions, the Expo was the second international horticultural exposition to be held in Vienna under the auspices of the AIPH. The plans for the Expo began to develop shortly after the closing of the WIG 64 held a decade earlier. Following the success of the 1964 exposition, the council was urged to re-organize a horticultural exhibition. An area on the south side of town that had once served as a recording field for silent films was ideally suited to create a large park. In 1969, architect Erich Hanke won an international design competition. He then formed several working groups of landscape architects from various countries, who made different designs for parts of the site. The best designs were incorporated into the grounds. A monorail was built to transport the visitors, but was eventually scrapped due to lack of success.
