Karlovac Gymnasium (Croatian: Gimnazija Karlovac), sometimes historically referred to as Higher Real Gymnasium, is a secondary school (gymnasium) located in the city of Karlovac in Croatia.

Karlovac County (Croatian: Karlovačka županija) is a county in central Croatia, with the administrative center in Karlovac. The city of Karlovac is a fort from the times of the Military Frontier. It was built as a six-side star fort in the 16th century at the point of confluence of four rivers. The town blossomed in the 18th and 19th century after being made a free town, with the development of roads between Pannonian Basin to the Adriatic Sea, and waterways along the Kupa river. The city is making use of its crucial geostrategic point in Croatia. The county itself extends towards the north to the water springs of Jamnica, and towards the south all the way down to the mountainous regions of Gorski Kotar and Lika, in particular to the Bjelolasica mountain which features the largest winter sport recreation center in the country.

The Church of St. Nicholas or Karlovac Cathedral (Serbian: Саборна црква Светог Николе у Карловцу), is a Serbian Orthodox church located in Karlovac, in central Croatia. The original church (destroyed in 1993) was finished in 1787, and was dedicated to Saint Nicholas. In 2007, the church was completely renovated.

Stadion Branko Čavlović-Čavlek is a football stadium in Karlovac, Croatia. It serves as home stadium for the NK Karlovac 1919 football club. The stadium was built in 1975 and has a capacity of 12,000 seats. Following NK Karlovac's promotion to Prva HNL the stadium underwent renovations in order to meet top-level requirements in the summer of 2009. The renovated stadium was opened on 19 July 2009 with a friendly match against Queens Park Rangers, which NK Karlovac won 3–1.The stadium is named after Branko Čavlović (1933–1955), a footballer from Karlovac who was active with local clubs in the 1940s and competed for the Croatian national junior team of that period.

National Shrine of Saint Joseph (Croatian: Nacionalno svetište svetog Josipa) is a Croatian Catholic national shrine dedicated to Saint Joseph located in the city of Karlovac, in Parish of Our Lady of the Snows. St. Joseph is a patron saint of Karlovac, Karlovac County and Croatia.

The Mrežnica (pronounced [mreʒnit͡sa]) is a river in Karlovac County, Croatia. It is 63 kilometres (39 mi) long and its basin covers an area of 64 square kilometres (25 sq mi).Mrežnica is considered special due to its large number of waterfalls, totalling 93. It rises in Kordun, west of Slunj, and flows northwards, in parallel to Dobra and Korana, through Generalski Stol and Duga Resa, when it finally flows into the Korana in the south of Karlovac (at Mostanje/Turanj). The Gojak Hydroelectric Power Plant is a high pressure diversion plant which harnesses the river power of the Ogulinska Dobra and Mrežnica rivers.

Donje Mrzlo Polje Mrežničko (lit. "Lower Cold Field of Mrežnica") is a village in Croatia. It is around 50 kilometers southwest of Zagreb.

The Korana is a river in central Croatia and west Bosnia and Herzegovina. The river has a total length of 138.6 km (86.1 mi) and watershed area of 2,301.5 km2 (888.6 sq mi).The river's name is derived from Proto-Indo-European *karr- 'rock'. It was recorded in the 13th century as Coranna and Corona.Korana rises in the eastern parts of Lika and creates the Plitvice Lakes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Downstream from Plitvice Lakes, the Korana river forms a 25 kilometers long border between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina near Cazin. From there it flows northwards through Croatia, where it finally reaches the river Kupa at Karlovac. The soil of the karst region, through which this river flows consists of limestone. Under certain physical and chemical conditions the river is constantly creating new soil from plants (see: Plitvice Lakes). The river Slunjčica flows into Korana at Rastoke/Slunj, and the river Mrežnica flows into it at Karlovac. In the Korana exist rich molluscan assemblages composed of 33 species.

The Zagreb Botanical Garden (Croatian: Botanički vrt u Zagrebu) is a botanical garden located in downtown Zagreb, Croatia. Founded in 1889 by Antun Heinz, Professor of the University of Zagreb, and opened to public in 1891, it is part of the Faculty of Science. Covering an area of 5 hectares (12 acres), the garden is situated at an altitude of 120 metres (390 ft) above sea level. It is home to over 10,000 plant species from around the world, including 1,800 exotic ones. It has large ponds for aquatic plants. Some of Slava Raškaj's most notable works were painted by the garden ponds.

The Battle of Logorište was fought east of Duga Resa and south of Karlovac, Croatia, from 4–6 November 1991 during the Croatian War of Independence, between the Croatian National Guard (Zbor narodne garde – ZNG) and the Yugoslav People's Army (Jugoslovenska Narodna Armija – JNA). The ZNG placed the JNA-held Logorište barracks under a blockade as part of the countrywide Battle of the Barracks, which aimed to pin down JNA units isolated in their bases and force them to surrender weapons and ammunition to the ZNG. However, the JNA garrison broke out from the besieged barracks with part of its stored equipment before the ZNG claimed the vacant base. The breakout was supported by JNA units and SAO Krajina units deployed to lift the blockade of the barracks and other JNA garrisons in Karlovac. A battle ensued as the ZNG attempted to contain advancing JNA units, ending with a ceasefire signed in The Hague. Although both sides claimed victory, neither achieved all their objectives; the JNA garrison evacuated the Logorište barracks, but Croatian defences elsewhere held. Particularly heavy fighting was reported in the Karlovac suburb of Turanj, identified as the primary axis of the JNA effort. While the JNA removed some weapons and equipment stored in the Logorište barracks, the remaining supplies were removed by the ZNG over a one-week period after the battle.

Turanj is one of the suburbs of the city of Karlovac, Croatia, with a population of 2,615. It is located in the south of the city, separated from the rest by the rivers Mrežnica and Korana. The D1 highway passes through Turanj.

The Drežnik Viaduct is located in Karlovac, Croatia, immediately to the west of the Karlovac interchange on the A1 motorway. It is the longest viaduct in Croatia, spanning 2,485 metres (8,153 ft). It is executed in seven segments (225 m (738 ft)+270 m (890 ft)+4x408 m (1,339 ft)+358 m (1,175 ft) long), separated by expansion joints. The viaduct was constructed by Konstruktor, Split, as the main contractor, and Viadukt and Hidroelektra of Zagreb as subcontractors in 2000 and 2001.The viaduct is executed as two parallel structures, each 10.5 m (34 ft) wide. Their superstructures are continuous structures with spans of 35 metres (115 ft) to 70 metres (230 ft) m above Kupa River. The carriageway of each of the bridges consists of two traffic lanes 3.75 metres (12.3 ft) wide and two marginal strips 1 metre (3.3 ft) wide. There are no sidewalks and no emergency lanes on the bridge itself. The superstructure is executed in I-section prefabricated reinforced concrete girders, made monolithic with in situ executed transverse beams and the deck slab. The longitudinal girders are mostly of a uniform length (traversing 35 m (115 ft) spans), except for those spanning the river and the longest, 70 m (230 ft) long span. Foundations of the viaduct are executed on piles.Cost of the construction works related to the Drežnik Viaduct was 250 million Croatian kuna.The Drežnik Viaduct is the largest and the most significant structure on the Karlovac - Bosiljevo 1 section of the A1 motorway, which carries the transit traffic between Zagreb in the north and Rijeka and Split in the south, and channels it away from the Karlovac city centre, dramatically reducing travel times between those cities and relieving traffic congestion from the D1 state road running through Karlovac, which was especially severe during summer seasons.
