Mazagaon, also spelled Mazgaon and Mazagon (known as Mazagão during the Portuguese rule), and pronounced by the Catholics as 'Mazgon' or 'Maz-a-gon' and the Marathi-speakers as Mazgav, is one of the seven islands of Mumbai. It is part of South Mumbai and can be reached by Byculla Station on the Central railway line and Dockyard Road Station on the Harbour Railway line. Located in Mazagaon are maritime companies like the Bombay Port Trust and Mazagaon Dock Ltd., the Mazagaon Court and Anglo-Indian schools including Rosary High School, St. Peters School, Antonio D'Souza High School, Diamond Jubilee High School and St. Mary's School.

Mumbai Harbour (also English; Bombay Harbour or Front Bay, MarathiMumba'ī bandar), is a natural deep-water harbour in the southern portion of the Ulhas River estuary. The narrower, northern part of the estuary is called Thana Creek. The harbour opens to the Arabian Sea to the south. The historical island of Elephanta is one of the six islands that lie in the harbour. Front Bay is the official name of the harbour, so named because the city started as a tiny settlement facing the harbour. The waterbody behind the original settlement, forming an arc between the former Colaba island and Bombay island, up to the Malabar Hill promontory or peninsula, was similarly called Back Bay. Front Bay is home to the Mumbai Port, which lies in the south section of the western edge of the harbour. Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Navi Mumbai lie to the east on the Konkan mainland, and the city of Mumbai lies to the west on Salsette Island. The Gateway of India with its jetty for Elephanta is the most important tourist destination, followed by the INS Vikrant maritime Museum.

Bhaucha Dhakka (also called as Ferry Wharf) is a wharf along the Thane Creek, along the coast of Dockyard Road on the Eastern seafront of Mumbai, the capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra. The wharf serves as the port for numerous fishermen who bring in their daily catch. Ferry services link up JNPT, Uran to the east, and Rewas and Mandwa to the south. The wharf is used by the students of the Training Ship Rahaman which is an institute for maritime studies on the island of Nhava. The wharf is serviced by BEST buses and till the late 1980s also used to be the port of call for the Mumbai-Goa ferry services. The nearest railway station is Dockyard Road on Harbour Line services of Central Railway. Local trains towards Bandra, Andheri, Vashi, Belapur, Panvel halt at this station. These trains originate from CSMT that is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. Ferry Wharf aka Bhaucha Dhakka was built by Lakshman Hari Chandarjee Ajinkya(1789-1858). He belonged to the Pathare Prabhu community (one of the original inhabitants of Mumbai). He was affectionately addressed as Bhau or big brother by the local people. His family had estates at Naigaum and Parel and he worked as Chief Clerk in the Gun Carriage Factory in Colaba. Information given in the Govt. Archives and in the Marathi book ‘Pathare Prabhuncha Itihaas’ by Pratap Velkar reveal that Mumbai did not have a regular pier or wharf till 1835 for either goods or passengers. The government started leasing out land on the Bombay frontage to private individuals to build wet docks and basins. Laksman Hari Chandarjee Ajinkya alias ‘Bhau’ was the first local to take this opportunity. He thus constructed Mumbai's first wet dock in 1841 for the convenience of the passengers and incoming ships to load, embark and berth. These included Carnac and Claire bunders. Today, the passenger terminal at the Bhau-Cha-Dhakka is still used to ferry people to Mora and Rewas for their onward journeys to Uran and Alibag. old bhaucha dhakka was at Alexzandra dock. The Hancock Bridge was a bridge in Mumbai located between the Suburban railway stations of Sandhurst Road and Byculla. The bridge was initially built in 1879 and then underwent reconstruction in 1923 before it was demolished in January 2016 for another reconstruction.

Reay Road (station code: RRD) is a railway station on the Harbour Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway. The station is a Grade-I heritage structure. The other 4 stations on Mumbai's heritage list include Byculla, Bandra, CSMT and Churchgate. Reay Road was named after Lord Reay, Governor of Bombay between 1885 and 1890. It was opened in 1910 and was originally used as a terminus for the Kurla-Reay Road harbour line. Commuters had to take a tram to continue the journey to Bombay (now Mumbai). The letters GIPR can be seen on either side of the station. GIPR is the abbreviation for Great Indian Peninsula Railway, the first rail line in India.The tracks have been extended for 12 car local trains. The track passes under a road connecting both sides of the station platform. Britannia, a famous brand of baked goods has a bakery in this area. A forging mill is present next to the railway station. The station gives access for many Iron goods stockists in the area. These Stockists stock iron beams, rods, plates etc. in the nearby warehouses and trade from there. This place is also a source for traders who depend on the ship breaking industry.

St. Mary’s High School SSC is a private Catholic junior secondary school for boys located in Mazgaon, Mumbai, in the state of Maharashtra, India. The Christian minority institution was founded by the Jesuits in 1864. In 1933, the Secondary School Certificate school split from the adjacent St. Mary's Anglo-Indian School ICSE, with separate buildings and staff. The school covers grades six through ten.

The Jewish Cemetery, Chinchpokli, is a cemetery in Chinchpokli, Bombay, laid out near the Chinchpokli railway station by Elias David Sassoon in 1878. Covering two acres, the burial ground now contains more than a thousand graves, and new burials continue to take place.

Fort Stikine was a British Fort ship which was built in Canada in 1942. Owned by the American War Shipping Administration, she was leased under charter to the Ministry of War Transport under the Lend-Lease scheme and operated under the management of the Port Line. Fort Stikine only had a short career, and was destroyed in an explosion at Bombay, India, in April 1944 that caused the loss of a further thirteen ships.

The Bombay explosion (or Bombay docks explosion) occurred on 14 April 1944, in the Victoria Dock of Bombay, British India (now Mumbai, India) when the British freighter SS Fort Stikine, carrying a mixed cargo of cotton bales, gold, and ammunition including around 1,400 tons of explosives, caught fire and was destroyed in two giant blasts, scattering debris, sinking surrounding ships and setting fire to the area, killing around 800 to 1,300 people. Some 80,000 people were made homeless and 71 firemen lost their lives in the aftermath.

The Grant Government Medical College, Mumbai, is a public medical college, affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. Founded in 1845, it is one of the oldest institutions teaching medicine in South Asia. Its clinical affiliate is Sir Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy Group of Hospitals: a conglomerate of four hospitals in South Bombay including the Sir J. J. Hospital, St George Hospital, Gokuldas Tejpal Hospital, and Cama and Albless Hospital (women and children hospital).
