St. Mary's School, Mumbai or St. Mary's School I.C.S.E, is a private Catholic secondary school for boys located in Mazagaon, Mumbai, in the state of Maharashtra, India. Founded by the Jesuits in 1864, the school is affiliated with the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE). The school is amongst the oldest, continually running, private schools in India. It is also ranked amongst the top day schools in the country.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region (abbreviated to MMR and previously also as Greater Bombay Metropolitan Area), is a metropolitan area consisting of Mumbai (Bombay) and its satellite towns in the northern Konkan division, of the Maharashtra state in western India. The region has an area of 6,355 square kilometres (2,454 sq mi) and with a population of over 26 million it is among the most populous metropolitan areas in the world.Developing over a period of about 20 years, it consists of nine municipal corporations and fifteen smaller municipal councils. The areas outside Brihanmumbai (Greater Mumbai) and Navi Mumbai have lacked organised development. Navi Mumbai, developed as one of the largest planned cities in the world, was promoted by a state government-owned company, City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO). The region has had problems related to haphazard and illegal development as a result of rapid urbanisation. Villages along the NH3 in Bhiwandi Taluka are examples of haphazard developments in the MMR, with some of the largest warehousing areas in India. Government agencies such as the Town Planner and Collector of Thane have had challenges in addressing unorganised development.

Christ Church in Byculla, Mumbai, is affiliated to the Church of North India and was built in 1833 as an Anglican church. The church's establishment has been the subject of a myth that it was built to suit the convenience of the Governor of Bombay, Mountstuart Elphinstone, who reportedly had to earlier travel from his central Bombay residence in Parel to St Thomas Cathedral in South Bombay. Elphinstone had already left India in 1829. The church was, in fact, built during the governorship of John FitzGibbon, 2nd Earl of Clare, who laid the foundation stone in July, 1832.Along with the Church of St Andrew and St Columba in South Bombay, Christ Church was one of the last 19th-century churches in the city to be built in the Neoclassical style, as Gothic Revival emerged as the preferred style thereafter. It was built by a Portuguese architect called Augusto. The first service was held on 10 August 1833, but the church was only consecrated in December 1835 by Revd. Daniel Wilson, the then Bishop of Calcutta. In 2017, the church's restoration project led by conservation architect Vikas Dilawari won the Award of Merit under the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

St. Agnes High School and Junior College of Commerce is a girls school and junior college located on Clare Road, Byculla in Mumbai, India. It is managed by the religious followers of the Convent of Jesus and Mary, affiliated to the Archdiocesan board of Education. This school is under the patronage of St.Agnes, after whom it is named. The school prepares students for S.S.C. examinations conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.To make for more effective management, the school is divided into four house under the patronage of St. Matthew(Red), St. John(Yellow), St. Mark(Blue)and St. Luke(Green). Gloria Church or Our Lady of Glory Church (Portuguese: Nossa Senhora de Gloria) is built in 1911-13 on one of the oldest Roman Catholic church sites in Mumbai; its predecessor was built by the Portuguese Franciscans in 1632. The church is situated in Byculla, Mumbai. In 2019, the restoration project for the church received the Award of Merit under the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

The Hancock Bridge was a bridge in Mumbai located between the Suburban railway stations of Sandhurst Road and Byculla. The bridge was initially built in 1879 and then underwent reconstruction in 1923 before it was demolished in January 2016 for another reconstruction.

The Grant Government Medical College, Mumbai, is a public medical college, affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. Founded in 1845, it is one of the oldest institutions teaching medicine in South Asia. Its clinical affiliate is Sir Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy Group of Hospitals: a conglomerate of four hospitals in South Bombay including the Sir J. J. Hospital, St George Hospital, Gokuldas Tejpal Hospital, and Cama and Albless Hospital (women and children hospital).

Eliza Ezra Ezekiel Sassoon High School (or E.E.E. Sassoon High School), Mumbai, India. It is an English medium school recognised by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Mumbai Division. It was established as a Jewish school on the year 1902 in the Magen David Synagogue compound that was built in 1864 by Sir David Sassoon as part of other philanthropic projects. It belongs to the Baghdadi Jews community and opened its doors to all communities as the Jewish population in Bombay dwindled. The school is located in a predominantly Muslim area of Byculla in Mumbai, alongside Sir Jacob Sassoon High School set within the same compound. Built by Sir David Sassoon, it is one of the remnants of the days of the Baghdadi Jews in Mumbai. Solomon Sopher, is the chairman and managing trustee of E.E.E. Sassoon High School Trust along with Sir Jacob Sassoon and Allied Trusts.It was awarded recognition by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, giving it SSC Board examination status in 1984. The demographic structure of student body is 98% Muslim. The school is run by a Jewish trust, has been mostly headed by a Catholic Christian, the principal is a Hindu and teaching staff are mostly Hindus, while the majority of students are Muslims.

Veermata Jijabai Bhonsale Udyan, also known as the Byculla Zoo and formerly Victoria Gardens, is a zoo and garden covering 50 acres located at Byculla, in the heart of Mumbai, India. It is the oldest public garden in Mumbai. After Indian independence it was Named after Jijamata, the mother of Shivaji, the first Maratha emperor. In 1835, British administration granted a large plot of land in Sewri to the Agro Horticultural Society of Western India for a botanical garden known as Victoria Gardens after Queen-Empress Victoria. That land was later acquired for a European burial ground. In 1861, construction of a new garden was commenced on 33 acres in the Mount Estate, Mazgaon (now included in Byculla). The flora from Sewri garden was transferred to this new garden named Jijamata Udyaan which was formally opened to the public by Lady Frere on 19 November 1862. Agro Horticultural Society of Western India continued to maintain Victoria Gardens till 1873 when the society's end led to the municipal corporation taking over the garden's upkeep. In 1890 the garden was extended by 15 acres especially for the zoo.The garden also houses the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, a staff building in Greco-Roman style erected in the memory of Lady Frere, an equestrian statue of King Edward VII of England made of black marble (originally installed near the University of Mumbai) known as Kala Ghoda and the David Sassoon clock tower.
