Veermata Jijabai Bhonsale Udyan, also known as the Byculla Zoo and formerly Victoria Gardens, is a zoo and garden covering 50 acres located at Byculla, in the heart of Mumbai, India. It is the oldest public garden in Mumbai. After Indian independence it was Named after Jijamata, the mother of Shivaji, the first Maratha emperor. In 1835, British administration granted a large plot of land in Sewri to the Agro Horticultural Society of Western India for a botanical garden known as Victoria Gardens after Queen-Empress Victoria. That land was later acquired for a European burial ground. In 1861, construction of a new garden was commenced on 33 acres in the Mount Estate, Mazgaon (now included in Byculla). The flora from Sewri garden was transferred to this new garden named Jijamata Udyaan which was formally opened to the public by Lady Frere on 19 November 1862. Agro Horticultural Society of Western India continued to maintain Victoria Gardens till 1873 when the society's end led to the municipal corporation taking over the garden's upkeep. In 1890 the garden was extended by 15 acres especially for the zoo.The garden also houses the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, a staff building in Greco-Roman style erected in the memory of Lady Frere, an equestrian statue of King Edward VII of England made of black marble (originally installed near the University of Mumbai) known as Kala Ghoda and the David Sassoon clock tower.

Gloria Church or Our Lady of Glory Church (Portuguese: Nossa Senhora de Gloria) is built in 1911-13 on one of the oldest Roman Catholic church sites in Mumbai; its predecessor was built by the Portuguese Franciscans in 1632. The church is situated in Byculla, Mumbai. In 2019, the restoration project for the church received the Award of Merit under the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

Byculla (ISO: Bhāykhaḷā; pronunciation: [bʱaːjkʰəɭaː]) is an area of South Mumbai.

St. Mary’s High School SSC is a private Catholic junior secondary school for boys located in Mazgaon, Mumbai, in the state of Maharashtra, India. Reay Road (station code: RRD) is a railway station on the Harbour Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway. The station is a Grade-I heritage structure. The other 4 stations on Mumbai's heritage list include Byculla, Bandra, CSMT and Churchgate. Reay Road was named after Lord Reay, Governor of Bombay between 1885 and 1890. It was opened in 1910 and was originally used as a terminus for the Kurla-Reay Road harbour line. Commuters had to take a tram to continue the journey to Bombay (now Mumbai). The letters GIPR can be seen on either side of the station. GIPR is the abbreviation for Great Indian Peninsula Railway, the first rail line in India.The tracks have been extended for 12 car local trains. The track passes under a road connecting both sides of the station platform. Britannia, a famous brand of baked goods has a bakery in this area. A forging mill is present next to the railway station. The station gives access for many Iron goods stockists in the area. These Stockists stock iron beams, rods, plates etc. in the nearby warehouses and trade from there. This place is also a source for traders who depend on the ship breaking industry.

St. Agnes High School and Junior College of Commerce is a girls school and junior college located on Clare Road, Byculla in Mumbai, India. It is managed by the religious followers of the Convent of Jesus and Mary, affiliated to the Archdiocesan board of Education. This school is under the patronage of St.Agnes, after whom it is named. The school prepares students for S.S.C. examinations conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.To make for more effective management, the school is divided into four house under the patronage of St. Matthew(Red), St. John(Yellow), St. Mark(Blue)and St. Luke(Green). Similarly, the primary section is divided under the patronage of St. Agnes(Red), St. Goretti(Blue), St.Theresa(Yellow) and St. Joan(Green).

Christ Church in Byculla, Mumbai, is affiliated to the Church of North India and was built in 1833 as an Anglican church. The church's establishment has been the subject of a myth that it was built to suit the convenience of the Governor of Bombay, Mountstuart Elphinstone, who reportedly had to earlier travel from his central Bombay residence in Parel to St Thomas Cathedral in South Bombay. Elphinstone had already left India in 1829. The church was, in fact, built during the governorship of John FitzGibbon, 2nd Earl of Clare, who laid the foundation stone in July, 1832.Along with the Church of St Andrew and St Columba in South Bombay, Christ Church was one of the last 19th-century churches in the city to be built in the Neoclassical style, as Gothic Revival emerged as the preferred style thereafter. It was built by a Portuguese architect called Augusto. The first service was held on 10 August 1833, but the church was only consecrated in December 1835 by Revd. Daniel Wilson, the then Bishop of Calcutta. In 2017, the church's restoration project led by conservation architect Vikas Dilawari won the Award of Merit under the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

Dagdi Chawl is a neighbourhood in Byculla, Mumbai, used to house mill workers from the nearby industries. Now it is known for the fortified home of mafia don turned politician Arun Gawli. On 2 October 2015, a Marathi film starring Ankush Choudhary, Makarand Deshpande and Pooja Sawant has been released by the name Daagdi Chawl which showcases 1995-96 gang war.

Chinchpokli (Marathi: चिंचपोकळी) is a neighbourhood in South Mumbai. It is also the name of a railway station on the Central line of the Mumbai suburban railway. Historical British era spellings include Chinchpugli and Chinchpooghly. The neighbourhood is named after the Marathi words for tamarind (chinch) and betel nut (pofali).

Byculla is one of the 288 Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly) constituencies of Maharashtra state in western India.
