Halae Araphenides

Artemida (Greek: Αρτέμιδα, until 1977 Loutsa, Greek: Λούτσα) is an Eastern suburb of Athens. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Spata-Artemida, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 18.653 km2.

Rafina (Greek: Ραφήνα) is a suburban port town located on the eastern coast of Attica in Greece. It has a population of 13,091 inhabitants (2011 census). Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Rafina-Pikermi, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 18.979 km2. It is part of Athens metropolitan area.

Rafina-Pikermi (Greek: Ραφήνα-Πικέρμι) is a municipality in the East Attica regional unit, Attica, Greece. The seat of the municipality is the town Rafina. The municipality has an area of 40.501 km2.

Araphen (Ancient Greek: Ἀραφήν, romanized: Araphén) was the name of a deme of ancient Athens, situated on the eastern coast to the north of Brauron and Halae Araphenides, on the west of the current village of Rafina, located near the mouth of the river of the same name.The area was already inhabited in the Archaic Period and was flourishing due to the port which gave access to the Cyclades islands. Two settlements of that period were found on a hill two kilometers south of the port; now there remain a few archaeological finds, which were buried by modern constructions.

East Attica (Greek: Ανατολική Αττική) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Attica. The regional unit covers the eastern part of the urban agglomeration of Athens, and also the rural area to its east.

Mati (Greek: Mάτι, meaning "eye") is a village in Greece. The village is located on the east coast of the Attica region, 29 kilometres (18 mi) east of Athens, and it is a popular holiday resort.

Philaidae or Philaidai (Ancient Greek: Φιλαΐδαι) was a deme of ancient Attica, which appears to have been near Brauron, since it is said to have derived its name from Philaeus, the son of the Telamonian Ajax, who dwelt in Brauron. Philaïdae was the deme of Peisistratus.Its site is located about 0.25 miles (0.40 km) west of the basilica at Brauron.

Brauron (/ˈbrɔːrɒn/;Ancient Greek: Βραυρών) was one of the twelve cities of ancient Attica, but never mentioned as a deme, though it continued to exist down to the latest times. It was situated on or near the eastern coast of Attica, between Steiria and Halae Araphenides, near the river Erasinus. Brauron is celebrated on account of the worship of Artemis Brauronia, in whose honour a festival was celebrated in this place. This site includes the remains of a temple, a stoa (colonnaded walkway), and a theatre, providing insights into the religious practices and social life of ancient Greece. Its significance as a religious and cultural site can be further understood through the exploration of its archeological remains and historical accounts.

The Brauron Archaeological Museum is a museum in Markopoulo Mesogeias, Greece. Much of the collection is derived from excavations in the Sanctuary of Artemis at Brauron. Of note is a statue representing a small girl, a so-called "bear" (arktoi) (Medvedicka).

Teithras (Ancient Greek: Τείθρας) or Tithras (Τίθρας) was a deme of ancient Attica, of the phyle of Aegeis, sending four delegates to the Athenian Boule.As evidenced by the discovery of a sacred calendar, the deme revered Athena, Zeus, Heracles, Kore, and the heroes Datylus and Teithras. There was also a sanctuary of Dionysus, in which theatrical performances took place. In ancient times the dried figs produced in this deme were famous.In The Frogs by Aristophanes, the "Gorgons of Teithras" are characters invented by Aeacus to scare Dionysus. The playwright probably referred to the women of the deme, who were considered terrible and ugly by contemporary Athenians. Its site is located near modern Pikermi.

Pikermi (Greek: Πικέρμι) is a suburb of Athens and a former community of East Attica regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Rafina-Pikermi, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 21.522 km2.

Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (Greek: Διεθνής Αερολιμένας Αθηνών «Ελευθέριος Βενιζέλος», Diethnís Aeroliménas Athinón "Elefthérios Venizélos"), commonly initialised as AIA (IATA: ATH, ICAO: LGAV), is the largest international airport in Greece, serving the city of Athens and region of Attica. It began operation on 28 March 2001 (in time for the 2004 Summer Olympics) and is the main base of Aegean Airlines, as well as other smaller Greek airlines. It replaced the old Ellinikon International Airport.Athens International Airport is currently a member of Group 1 of Airports Council International (over 25 million passengers). As of 2022, it is the 19th-busiest airport in Europe and the busiest and largest in the Balkans.
