The Haji Shahla Mosque (Azerbaijani: Hacı Şəhla məscidi) is a former mosque and architectural monument located in the Balakhany town of Baku, in Azerbaijan. The inscription on the mosque indicates that it was built in 787 AH (1385/1386CE) by the order of Hacı Shahla bin Shakir bin Mustafa Köşkin and constructed by the master architect Arif, son of the master Musa Jibal. After Azerbaijan regained independence, the building was included in the list of significant immovable historical and cultural monuments of the country by the decision numbered 132 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan on August 2, 2001.

Balaxanı or Balakhani is a settlement and municipality near Baku, Azerbaijan, on the Absheron Peninsula. Taking advantage of the area's oil pools, a 35 m deep well was dug manually in 1593. The Russians built the first oil-distilling factory here in 1837.As of 2015 its population was 11,615.

The Opening Ceremony of the 2015 European Games was the official opening ceremony held in the afternoon at 9:00PM Azerbaijan Time (GMT+4) on June 12, 2015 in the Baku Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan. It was attended by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, the Vice President of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, and the President of the European Olympic Committee Patrick Hickey.The ceremony was attended by 68,000 spectators gathered at the Olympic Stadium, as well as hundreds of millions of online viewers. More than 300 creative teams from 28 countries were involved in organizing the ceremony. The cost of organizing of the ceremony was about 100 million U.S. dollars. The opening ceremony was directed by artistic choreographer Dimitris Papaioannou who was praised for his work during 2004 Summer Olympics.

Baku Olympic Stadium (Azerbaijani: Bakı Olimpiya Stadionu), is a stadium, designed and constructed to meet the international standards for stadiums set by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). It is the largest stadium in Azerbaijan. Construction of the 225,000-square-meter stadium on a 650,000-square-meter site was completed in February 2015. The six-storey, 65.7 meter structure near Boyukshor Lake, Baku, Azerbaijan, opened on 6 March 2015. The main tenant of the stadium is Azerbaijan's national football team, who moved from their previous home at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium. In June 2015 the stadium served as the main venue for the European Games, hosting the opening and closing ceremonies, and the athletic games. The venue hosted three group games and a quarterfinal at the UEFA Euro 2020. A green area is being developed around the stadium, which is accessible via public transport.

Sabunçu (also, Sabunchi and Sabunchy, Azeri for "soapmaker") is a settlement and municipality in Baku, Azerbaijan. It has a population of 22,344.

Boyukshor (Azerbaijani: Böyük Şor gölü), also spelled separately Boyuk Shor (in translation refers to "Big Salty") is the second largest lake of Azerbaijan and largest on Absheron Peninsula. It is located in the center of the Absheron peninsula, on the boundaries of Binagadi, Sabunchu and Narimanov raions of the city of Baku.

The Absheron Peninsula (Azerbaijani: Abşeron yarımadası) is a peninsula in Azerbaijan. It is the location of Baku, the biggest and the most populous city of the country, and also the Baku metropolitan area, with its satellite cities Sumqayit and Khyrdalan. There are three districts, of which two are urban (Baku and Sumqayit) and one is suburban (Absheron Rayon). It extends 60 km (37 mi) eastward into the Caspian Sea, and reaches a maximum width of 30 km (19 mi). Though technically the easternmost extension of the Caucasus Mountains, the landscape is only mildly hilly, a gently undulating plain that ends in a long spit of sand dunes known as Shah Dili, and now declared the Absheron National Park. In this part, the peninsula is dissected by ravines and characterized by frequent salt lakes.

Zabrat Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Zabrat, Azerbaijan. It is currently used mostly for Association football matches and is the home stadium of Neftçi PFK. The stadium holds 3,000 people.

The Olympic Village (Azerbaijani: Olimpik kənd) or Athletes Village (Azerbaijani: Atletlər kəndi), is a residential area in Baku, Azerbaijan. Although it was initially constructed as a residential area, after its opening, it served as an Olympic Village, dedicated for 2015 European Games and 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games.

Ismat Gayibov Stadium, also referred as Bakikhanov Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Bakikhanov settlement of Baku, Azerbaijan. It is named in honor of Ismat Gayibov (1942–1991). It is currently used mostly for football matches. In February 2011, the president of Neftchi Baku football club Sadyg Sadygov announced that in domestic competitions Neftchi will host the rivals in Ismat Gayibov Stadium beginning from 2011–2012 season. The stadium holds approximately 5,000 seats. However, he states that an additional sector with 2,500 seats is to be constructed in the stadium.
