Church of Michael the Archangel (Russian: Михайло-Архангельский храм; Azerbaijani: Mixayil Arxangel kilsəsi) or Flotskaya (Church of the Fleet) is a Russian Orthodox church in central Baku, Azerbaijan, on Zargarpalan street. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. The church is serviced by Bishop Mefodi Efendiyev, three priests and one deacon.

The Church of the Virgin Mary’s Immaculate Conception (Azerbaijani: Müqəddəs Bakirə Məryəm kilsəsi, Russian: Церковь Непорочного Зачатия Пресвятой Девы Марии) is a Roman Catholic church in Baku, Azerbaijan. The original church also named Church of the Immaculate Conception operated from 1915 to 1931, when it was ordered destroyed by the Soviet government. In 2006, a new Catholic church bearing the same name was rebuilt in a different spot of Baku. On 29 April 2007 the new church was consecrated by Apostolic Nuncio in Transcaucasia Monsignor Claudio Gugerotti.

Nərimanov (also, Narimanov) is a settlement and raion in Baku, Azerbaijan. The administrative territory of the Narimanov district, one the central districts of Baku, is 24.5 km2, and its population is 170.300 in the official registration date of 01.01.2013. The Narimanov district was founded in 1941. In January 1941, the Executive Committee of the Workers' Council of the Keshla region was established, and in August 1957, the name of Keshla was renamed and it was renamed into the Executive Committee of the Narimanov District Council of Deputies. In December 1959, the Dzerzhinsky district was abolished and its territory was included in Narimanov district in January 1960. From August 27, 1957 to October 6, 1977, the Executive Committee of the Soviet Union of Workers' Deputies of Narimanov district acted as the Executive Committee of the Narimanov District Council of People's Deputies from October 7, 1977 to October 17, 1991. In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated October 18, 1991, the Narimanov District Council of People's Deputies was abolished, and instead, the Narimanov District Executive Authority was established and functioned on 20 November 1991.The district is urban, no villages and other administrative territorial units in Narimanov district. The district is home to the Presidential Palace as well as the Baku Convention Center and the Baku Zoo.

Balaxanı or Balakhani is a settlement and municipality near Baku, Azerbaijan, on the Absheron Peninsula. Taking advantage of the area's oil pools, a 35 m deep well was dug manually in 1593. The Russians built the first oil-distilling factory here in 1837.As of 2015 its population was 11,615.

The Haji Shahla Mosque (Azerbaijani: Hacı Şəhla məscidi) is a former mosque and architectural monument located in the Balakhany town of Baku, in Azerbaijan. The inscription on the mosque indicates that it was built in 787 AH (1385/1386CE) by the order of Hacı Shahla bin Shakir bin Mustafa Köşkin and constructed by the master architect Arif, son of the master Musa Jibal. After Azerbaijan regained independence, the building was included in the list of significant immovable historical and cultural monuments of the country by the decision numbered 132 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan on August 2, 2001.

The Small Cravanserai in Baku, Azerbaijan has a square shape and an inner quadrangular courtyard with cut corners. This caravanserai was built in the 12th century. There is a long balcony which surrounds the building of the caravanserai. The north and south entrances of the caravanserai are portal-shaped. During the Middle Ages, there was a main entrance from the sea. The caravanserai has a defensive construction and two floors on the southern side. It is a monument of national importance. The caravanserai consisted of counters from the shopping street that did not have direct communication with the courtyard. However, it is believed that there used to be a functioning Madrasah nearby which was part of the Jameh (Juma) complex and the rooms of the caravanserai were considered for students studying in Madrasah. The caravanserai now features an "Art garden" which includes art galleries, several workshops of artisans and a restaurant of both national and European cuisines. Each room of the monument has been decorated by a different Azerbaijani artist.

Azerbaijan International University (Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan Beynəlxalq Universiteti) was a private university located in Baku, Azerbaijan. Founded in 1997, it had more than 6000 students and 268 faculty members. Graduate programs included Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacology, Economics, Education, and Law. The university granted bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. degrees, and became a corresponding member of International Personnel Academy of UNESCO (Kyiv) in 1999. On 30 August 2010, the Ministry of Education issued a decree annulling the license of the Azerbaijan International University.

Ulduz is a subway station in Baku Metro that was opened on 5 May 1970.

On 28 October 1995, a fire broke out in the subway system of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, between the stations Ulduz and Nariman Narimanov. According to official figures, the fire killed 289 people: 286 passengers (including 28 children) and three rescue workers, while 270 people were injured. The fire was deemed to have been caused by an electrical malfunction, but the possibility of deliberate sabotage was not excluded. Although a number of people who evacuated the train survived, the fire remains the world's deadliest subway disaster. One person, Chingiz Babayev, was posthumously awarded the title of the National Hero of Azerbaijan for saving passengers' lives.

The Opening Ceremony of the 2015 European Games was the official opening ceremony held in the afternoon at 9:00PM Azerbaijan Time (GMT+4) on June 12, 2015 in the Baku Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan. It was attended by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, the Vice President of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, and the President of the European Olympic Committee Patrick Hickey.The ceremony was attended by 68,000 spectators gathered at the Olympic Stadium, as well as hundreds of millions of online viewers. More than 300 creative teams from 28 countries were involved in organizing the ceremony. The cost of organizing of the ceremony was about 100 million U.S. dollars. The opening ceremony was directed by artistic choreographer Dimitris Papaioannou who was praised for his work during 2004 Summer Olympics.

Baku Olympic Stadium (Azerbaijani: Bakı Olimpiya Stadionu), is a stadium, designed and constructed to meet the international standards for stadiums set by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). It is the largest stadium in Azerbaijan. Construction of the 225,000-square-meter stadium on a 650,000-square-meter site was completed in February 2015. The six-storey, 65.7 meter structure near Boyukshor Lake, Baku, Azerbaijan, opened on 6 March 2015. The main tenant of the stadium is Azerbaijan's national football team, who moved from their previous home at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium. In June 2015 the stadium served as the main venue for the European Games, hosting the opening and closing ceremonies, and the athletic games. The venue hosted three group games and a quarterfinal at the UEFA Euro 2020. A green area is being developed around the stadium, which is accessible via public transport.

Baku Tower is a skyscraper in Baku, Azerbaijan. It has 52 above ground floors and a height of 277 metres (909 ft). Construction started in 2014, and ended in 2020. Baku Tower is primarily used for office space. The address of Baku Tower is 109 Heydar Aliyev Avenue. The building is made out of reinforced concrete and steel.
