Fiskå, Rogaland

Vostervatnet is a lake in the municipality of Strand in Rogaland county, Norway. The 2.62-square-kilometre (1.01 sq mi) lake lies in the northwestern part of Strand, just south of the Fognafjorden. The village of Tau lies about 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) southwest of the lake. The main outflow of the lake is the river Fiskåna, which flows north from the northeastern corner of the lake, down the hill to the village of Fiskå on the shore of the fjord.

Holta is a small farming village in the municipality of Strand in Rogaland county, Norway. The farm is situated on the northern hills overlooking the lake Bjørheimsvatn. It is approximately 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) northeast of the village of Tau and about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of the village of Fiskå. The city of Stavanger lies about 25 kilometres (16 mi) southwest of Holta (via the Ryfylke Tunnel that goes under a large fjord). On 9 August 1961, the Holtaheia Accident took place as a Vickers VC.1 Viking passenger aeroplane, G-AHPM operated by Cunard Eagle Airways, transporting schoolboys from The Archbishop Lanfranc School in Thornton Heath, London, crashed into the mountainside above the farm (Holtaheia). A total of 34 students, two teachers and three crew members were killed.

Strand is a municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Ryfylke. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Jørpeland. The municipality lies across the fjord from the city of Stavanger. The Ryfast tunnel system connects Stavanger and Strand by a very long undersea tunnel. The villages of Sørskår and Fiskå are located in northern Strand, on the southern shore of the Årdalsfjorden. This area of Strand produces fruit, vegetables, and dairy products. The Fiskå Mølle (Fiskå Mill) is located in Fiskå. The larger village of Tau is located on the western coast of Strand. It is a transportation hub with ferry connections to the city of Stavanger and bus services to nearby Hjelmelandsvågen and deeper into the Ryfylke district. About 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) southeast of Tau is the municipal center of Jørpeland. This town is the largest settlement in Strand with about 7,000 people. The 262-square-kilometre (101 sq mi) municipality is the 278th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Strand is the 90th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 13,474. The municipality's population density is 57.2 inhabitants per square kilometre (148/sq mi) and its population has increased by 13.4% over the previous 10-year period.The cross-country and marathon mountain biker Gunn-Rita Dahle comes from Bjørheimsbygd. She has won a gold medal in the Summer Olympics 2004, in Athens. Holtaheia was the mountain behind Holta farm where 34 school boys, 2 teachers and 3 crew died, when the Cunard Viking flight 'Papa Mike' crashed into the mountain, en route to Stavanger.

The 1961 Holtaheia Vickers Viking crash (Norwegian: Holtaheia-ulykken) was a controlled flight into terrain incident on 9 August 1961 at Holta in Strand, Norway. The Eagle Airways (later, British Eagle) Vickers 610 Viking 3B Lord Rodney was en route from London Heathrow to Stavanger Airport, Sola on an AIR Tours charter flight taking a school group for a camping holiday. The aircraft was making an instrument landing when it crashed 54 km (34 mi) north east of Stavanger. All 39 people on board died.

Haugaland or Haugalandet is a traditional district situated on the western coast of Norway. Haugaland is one of the 15 traditional districts located within the Vestlandet region.Geographically, Haugaland is a peninsula between Bømlafjorden in Vestland county and Boknafjorden in the northern part of Rogaland county, Nord-Rogaland. It is bordered to the east of the isthmus between Ølensfjorden and Sandeidfjorden in Vindafjord municipality. It is limited by Hardangerfjorden to the north, Boknafjorden to the south, and the district of Hardanger which is located further inland. Administratively, the region of Haugaland spans slightly more than the geographic peninsula. It includes the municipality of Sveio in Vestland county and the municipalities of Haugesund, Karmøy, Utsira, Tysvær, Bokn, and Vindafjord in Rogaland. The municipality of Etne (in Vestland) is considered part of Haugaland too. The regional centre of Haugaland is the city of Haugesund. Other towns in Haugaland include Kopervik, Skudeneshavn, and Åkrehamn. As of 2015, there were 99,293 inhabitants within Haugaland.

Tysdalsvatnet or Tyssdalsvatnet is a lake in the municipalities of Hjelmeland and Strand in Rogaland county, Norway. The 3.74-square-kilometre (1.44 sq mi) lake lies about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) south of the village of Årdal and about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) east of the village of Tau. The Norwegian National Road 13 (Rv13) runs along the northern side of the lake. The Svo Tunnel was completed in 2013 and it routes much of Rv13 through a mountain rather than along the narrow shoreline of the lake.

Tau is a village in Strand municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is located on the shore of the Horgefjorden, a branch of the main Boknafjorden. Strand Church is located in the village. The 2.14-square-kilometre (530-acre) village has a population (2019) of 3,212 and a population density of 1,501 inhabitants per square kilometre (3,890/sq mi).The village lies along the Norwegian National Road 13 highway, southwest of the small villages of Fiskå and Holta and northwest of the town of Jørpeland. The Ryfylke Tunnel connects Tau to the city of Stavanger nearly 20 kilometres (12 mi) away on the other side of a wide fjord.

Strand Church (Norwegian: Strand kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Strand Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Tau. It is the church for the Strand parish which is part of the Ryfylke prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1874 using designs by the architect Fritz von der Lippe. The church seats about 284 people.

Fogn Church (Norwegian: Fogn kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the large Stavanger Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located on the northwestern side of the island of Fogn. It is one of the two churches for the Talgje parish which is part of the Tungenes prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The red, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1991 using designs by the architect Elisabet Breen Fidjestøl. The church seats about 190 people.

Jørpeland Church (Norwegian: Jørpeland kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Strand Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the town of Jørpeland. It is the church for the Jørpeland parish which is part of the Ryfylke prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The large, gray, concrete church was built in a rectangular design in 1969 using designs by the architects Turid and Kristen Bernhoff Evensen. The church seats about 450 people.

Jørpeland is the administrative centre of Strand municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The town is located on the western coast of the mainland, along the shore of the Idsefjorden, about 20 kilometres (12 mi) northeast of the city of Stavanger. It sits along the Norwegian National Road 13 a short distance southeast of the village of Tau where the Ryfast tunnel has its eastern entrance. The name "Jørpeland" is composed of the slightly changed Old Norse word "jarpr", which translates to brown, and the word land ("brownland"). The reason for this name is that historically, the river Jørpelandsånå used to turn brown during times of flood.The 4.09-square-kilometre (1,010-acre) town has a population (2019) of 7,230 and a population density of 1,768 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,580/sq mi). Jørpeland is also known as "Pulpit Rock City", because Jørpeland is nearest city to the Preikestolen, which attracts tourists from all over the world. The Preikestolen is a huge cliff overlooking the Lysefjorden and it sits about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) southeast of Jørpeland. Jørpeland became designated as a town by the municipal council on 1 April 1998. Prior to that time it was simply considered a very large village. Jørpeland is divided into nine boroughs: Leite, Barka, Tungland, Barkved, Jøssang, Førland, Langeland, Grønnevoll, and Fjelde. The river Jørpelandsåna runs through the town before emptying into the fjord on the south side of the town.

Fogn is an island in Stavanger municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The 10.4-square-kilometre (4.0 sq mi) island lies southeast of the island of Finnøy and northeast of the island of Talgje, about 25 kilometres (16 mi) northeast of the city of Stavanger. The Finnøyfjorden lies between Fogn and Finnøy and the Fognafjorden lies between Fogn and the mainland to the southeast. The highest point on the island is the 166-metre (545 ft) tall mountain Domfjellet. Fogn Church is located on the island. The island is especially well known for its large production of tomatoes in greenhouses, about 15 percent of Norway's total production. This employs large amounts of foreign labor on the island. There are about 354 inhabitants on the island (2014), with many more summer residents who live in summer cottages on the island. The island has its own kindergarten and an elementary school that provides education through 7th grade. Starting with 8th grade, students must take the boat to middle school, located on the island of Finnøy.There is no road connection to the island. There are regular ferry connections to Judaberg on Finnøy island as well as to some of the other small surrounding islands, and on to the mainland.
