Pelican Lake (Marin County, California)

Bass Lake is a small lake in the southern portion of the Point Reyes National Seashore, northwest of Bolinas. The lake sits at an elevation of 374 feet (114 m) and flows out south to the ocean via a 1-mile (1.6 km) creek. Bass Lake is the largest of the five Coast Trail Lakes, which also include Pelican Lake, Crystal Lake, Ocean Lake and Wildcat Lake.

Alamere Falls is a waterfall in Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County, California. Alamere Falls is a rare "tidefall", a waterfall that flows directly into the ocean. It is one of only two known tidefalls in California, the other being McWay Falls.Alamere Falls tumble over fragile shale cliffs at Alamere Creek Beach. Upstream of the main Alamere Falls is the upper Alamere Falls, consisting of three separate cascades. Together, these cascades are approximately 20–30 feet (6–9 m) in height. All of these waterfalls are fed by the Alamere Creek.Alamere Falls can be reached by following the Coast Trail from the Palomarin Trailhead at the end of Mesa Road out of Bolinas, California. After 2.5 mi (4.0 km), the trail passes two small lakes (Bass Lake and Pelican Lake). Bass Lake can be accessed by a side trail that leads to a rope swing, and hikers often stop for a swim during summer months. From the Palomarin Trailhead, the hike is 3.8 mi (6.1 km), one-way, to the top of the falls. To reach the bottom of the falls, the National Park Service advises hikers to continue to Wildcat Campground, descend to the beach and then walk 1.1 mi (1.8 km) south; the one-way distance from Palomarin Trailhead to the base of the falls is 6.6 mi (10.6 km). This trail leads along the beach, check out the tides before to figure out the exact time for low tide. Usually, the beach to Alamere Falls is unsafe to access at high tide, and hikers are frequently trapped.

The Olema Lime Kilns at Point Reyes National Seashore in California were built in 1850 on land leased from Mexican grantee Rafael Garcia by James A. Shorb and William F. Mercer, two San Francisco entrepreneurs. The kilns were reportedly fired only a few times, and have lain abandoned for some 140 years. They were apparently abandoned no later than 1855 after only a few firings, probably due to the poor quality, small limestone deposits and the financial depression of that year. They represent a Gold Rush era effort to establish a lime-producing industry in Marin County, only two years after cession of Alta California to the United States by Mexico. They consist of three long-abandoned, barrel-shaped stone vaults lying in ruins against a hillside on the east side of Olema Creek about five miles south of Olema and about 100 yards west of California State Highway 1.

Olema Valley is a gorge formed by the San Andreas Fault in rural west Marin County, Northern California. The valley runs from the southern end of Tomales Bay through Point Reyes Station, the town of Olema, and Dogtown, to the Bolinas Lagoon, which lies between Bolinas and Stinson Beach. It is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The northern and central portions of the Olema Valley are drained by northwestward-flowing Olema Creek, whereas the southern portion is drained by southeastward-flowing Pine Gulch Creek.

West Marin is the largest rural region of Marin County, California. The West Marin Chamber of Commerce includes seven unincorporated communities in its definition of West Marin: Point Reyes Station, Olema, Stinson Beach, Bolinas, Tomales, Dillon Beach, and Inverness. West Marin is generally considered to be west of Muir Beach and Nicasio on the Pacific Ocean side of Mount Tamalpais. The Point Reyes Light is a weekly newspaper covering West Marin, and the website of the Marin Independent Journal has a category for West Marin news. And KWMR is their public radio station. Unlike the rest of the county, which is served by Golden Gate Transit, West Marin is served only by Marin Transit, which connects to Golden Gate Transit lines at Marin City and in the San Geronimo Valley, among other locations. The Environmental Action Committee of West Marin, active since the 1970s, focuses on environmental issues such as preserving open space and protecting vulnerable species. The Straus Family Creamery is just north of Marshall.

The Marconi-RCA Bolinas Transmitting Station, on Mesa Road in Bolinas, Marin County, California, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.The station was built in 1914 and taken over by RCA after World War I.It is one of six Point Reyes sites listed on the National Register in 2018.The station is recognized as a cultural landscape-type resource.It was photographed by Jet Lowe and listed as "Marconi Radio Sites, Transmitting, Point Reyes Station, Marin County, CA," in the Historic American Engineering Record.

Copper Mine Gulch is a valley in Marin County, California, United States, which is associated with a small stream. The stream descends the western slope of the Bolinas Ridge, passing the mine from which it receives its name, and flows through the town of Dogtown into the San Andreas Rift Valley. The creek then continues southwards and flows into Pine Gulch Creek.Most of Copper Mine Gulch is in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

KPH is a coast radio station on the Pacific Coast of the United States. For most of the 20th century, it provided ship to shore communications including telegrams (using Morse code) and marine telex service (using radioteletype). The station discontinued commercial operation in 1998, but is operated occasionally as a historic service – its signal can be received over a large portion of the western hemisphere. Ship to shore telephone calls were not handled by KPH but by other stations such as the nearby AT&T high seas station KMI.

The Phillip Burton Wilderness is part of the 111 sq. mile (288 km2) Point Reyes National Seashore located about 20 miles (32 km) northeast of San Francisco, California. Total wilderness land is 33,373 acres which includes a roadless "potential wilderness" area of over 8,000 acres (32 km2) and is one of only three designated wilderness along the California coast, the others being the King Range Wilderness and the Rocks and Islands Wilderness. The National Park Service manages the wilderness. The wilderness is named for California's Congressman Phillip Burton who served in the US House of Representatives from 1964 until his death on April 10, 1983. The US Congress passed legislation (Public Law 94-544) in 1976 that created the Point Reyes Wilderness, and in 1985, Congress, in recognition of Burton's dedication to wilderness preservation, especially his work on the California Wilderness Act of 1984, renamed the wilderness after him (P.L. 99-68). ...his leadership in establishing units of the National Park System and preserving their integrity against threats to those resources ... his tireless efforts that led to the enactment of the California Wilderness Act ... shall henceforth be known as the "Phillip Burton Wilderness."

Dogtown (originally named Woodville) is an unincorporated community in the rural West Marin region of coastal Marin County, California in the San Francisco Bay Area's North Bay. It lies at an elevation of 187 feet (57 m). With a population of 30, the town is located beside the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Point Reyes National Seashore, in the Olema Valley west of the Bolinas Ridge mountain range.

Wilkins Gulch is a valley in western Marin County, California, United States, located northwest of Pike County Gulch. It is associated with a small stream. The stream descends the western slope of Bolinas Ridge, crosses State Route 1, and drains into Bolinas Lagoon.

Kent Lake is a reservoir in western Marin County, California formed by the construction of Peters Dam across Lagunitas Creek. Built in 1954 (1954), the lake is the most recent lake of the Marin Municipal Water District, as well as the largest. It lies to the west of Alpine Lake; among the five major lakes in the area it is the only one to the west of Fairfax-Bolinas Road.
