South Camden

The South Camden Trust Company building is located within the South Camden area of Camden, New Jersey and was listed on the state and federal registers of historic places in 1990. Built in the 1920s, it has long functioned as a church.

The Camden Shipyard & Maritime Museum is a maritime museum in the Waterfront South neighborhood of Camden, New Jersey, across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. The museum opened in September 2016. Its main building is the former Church of our Savior, and its grounds include land once owned by the New York Shipbuilding Co., which is said to have been, at one time, the largest shipbuilder in the world. The museum partners with UrbanPromise on their Urban BoatWorks program, which teaches middle-school and high-school students wooden boat-building.

The Port of Camden is situated on east bank of the Delaware River in Camden and Gloucester City in southern New Jersey. It is one of several ports in the Delaware Valley metro area port complex and is located near the mouth of Newtown Creek opposite the Port of Philadelphia. The port is one of the nation's largest for wood products, steel, cocoa and perishable fruit.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Camden is a Roman Catholic diocese of the Latin Church in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It consists of 62 parishes and about 475,000 Catholics in the South Jersey counties of Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem. The Bishop of Camden presides from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Camden, although most major ceremonies are held at Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Blackwood. Some liturgies are held at St. Joseph Pro-Cathedral in Camden. Bishop Dennis J. Sullivan has been bishop of the diocese since 2013. The oldest parish, founded in 1848, is St. Mary's in Gloucester City.

The New York Shipbuilding Corporation (or New York Ship for short) was an American shipbuilding company that operated from 1899 to 1968, ultimately completing more than 500 vessels for the U.S. Navy, the United States Merchant Marine, the United States Coast Guard, and other maritime concerns. At its peak during World War II, NYSB was the largest and most productive shipyard in the world. Its best-known vessels include the destroyer USS Reuben James (DD-245), the cruiser USS Indianapolis (CA-35), the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), the nuclear-powered cargo ship NS Savannah, and a quartet of cargo-passenger liners nicknamed the Four Aces.

The Broadway Trust Company is located at 938–944 Broadway in the city of Camden in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. It was built in 1920 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 24, 1990, for its significance in architecture and economics. The bank is part of the Banks, Insurance, and Legal Buildings in Camden, New Jersey, 1873–1938 Multiple Property Submission (MPS).

SS United States is a retired ocean liner built between 1950 and 1951 for the United States Lines. The ship is the largest ocean liner constructed entirely in the United States and the fastest ocean liner to cross the Atlantic in either direction, retaining the Blue Riband for the highest average speed since her maiden voyage in 1952, a title she still holds today. She was designed by American naval architect William Francis Gibbs and could be converted into a troopship if required by the Navy in time of war. United States maintained an uninterrupted schedule of transatlantic passenger service until 1969 and was never used for military applications. The ship has been sold several times since the 1970s, with each new owner trying unsuccessfully to make the liner profitable. Eventually, the ship's fittings were sold at auction, and hazardous wastes, including asbestos panels throughout the ship, were removed, leaving her almost completely stripped by 1994. Two years later, she was towed to Philadelphia, where she remains today. Since 2009, the preservation group, 'SS United States Conservancy' has been raising funds to save the ship. The group purchased her in 2011 and has drawn up several unrealized plans to restore the ship, one of which included turning the ship into a multi-purpose waterfront complex. In 2015, as its funds dwindled, the group began accepting bids to scrap the ship; however, sufficient donations came in via extended fundraising. Large donations have kept the ship berthed at her Philadelphia dock while the group continues to further investigate restoration plans.

The Port of Philadelphia is located on the Delaware River in Philadelphia in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Generally the term applies to the publicly owned marine terminals located within Philadelphia city limits along west bank of the river. These terminals are managed by the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, PhilaPort, an agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The term is sometimes used for Delaware River port complex to collectively refer to the ports and energy facilities along the river in the tri-state PA-NJ-DE Delaware Valley region. They include the Port of Salem, the Port of Wilmington, the Port of Chester, the Port of Paulsboro, the Port of Philadelphia and the Port of Camden. Combined they create one of the largest shipping areas of the United States. In 2016, 2,427 ships arrived at Delaware River port facilities: Fruit ships were counted at 577, petroleum at 474, and containerized cargo at 431.

Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy (CAMVA) is a seven-year magnet public middle / high school that focuses on fine and performing arts programs in addition to academic programming for students in seventh through twelfth grades in the City of Camden, in Camden County, New Jersey, United States, operating as part of the Camden City Public Schools. The school opened in 1999 with a freshman class of under 50 students, as one of three magnet schools in Camden, along with Brimm Medical Arts High School and MetEast High School. As of 2011, the academy added a middle school program for grades 6-8. Camden residents entering sixth or ninth grades are eligible to apply and must demonstrate interest in a particular field of the arts as well as meet minimum grade and attendance standards. Admission is based on a combination of criteria including auditions, academic scores and interviews.As of the 2020–21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 290 students and 42.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 6.8:1. There were 181 students (62.4% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 1 (0.3% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

The Camden Waterfront, also known as the Central Waterfront, is a commercial and entertainment district in Camden, New Jersey, on the Delaware River south of the Ben Franklin Bridge and north of Port of Camden. The district is characterized by its visitor attractions and its location offering views of the river and the Philadelphia skyline. It is served by RiverLink Ferry which crosses the river to Philadelphia and the Cooper St-Rutgers, Aquarium, and Entertainment Center stations of the River Line light rail system. According to the 2000 U.S. census, the neighborhood has a population of 962.

St. Joseph's Polish Catholic Church (Polish: Kośćiół Świętego Józefa) is a historic Roman Catholic church at 1010 Liberty Street in Camden, Camden County, New Jersey, United States. It is one of two churches in Camden named St. Joseph. The other is St. Joseph Pro-Cathedral.
