The Hamburg State Opera (in German: Staatsoper Hamburg) is a German opera company based in Hamburg. Its theatre is near the square of Gänsemarkt. Since 2015, the current Intendant of the company is Georges Delnon, and the current Generalmusikdirektor of the company is Kent Nagano.

EBC Hochschule Hamburg is a private business school in Hamburg and Düsseldorf, Germany. It offers Bachelor's programs in business and management. Founded in 2008, EBC Hochschule has an international focus with many partner universities in different countries.

The Oper am Gänsemarkt was a theatre in Hamburg, Germany, built in 1678 after plans of Girolamo Sartorio at the Gänsemarkt square. It was the first public opera house to be established in Germany: not a court opera, as in many other towns. Everybody could buy a ticket, like in Venice. Most works were in the German language or translated librettos (from Italian). The building was torn down in 1756, but rebuilt in 1765.

The 20th Century Press Archives (German: Pressearchiv 20. Jahrhundert) comprises about 19 million of newspaper clippings, organized in folders about persons, companies, wares, events and topics. It originates from the Hamburg Kolonialinstitut (colonial institute) founded in 1908. Within the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWA) it turned into a unique public press archives. In 2007 it was absorbed by the German National Library of Economics (ZBW) and merged with the Wirtschaftsarchiv (economics archive) of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW), founded in 1914. Article collection was discontinued by end of 2005, but the archive is still open to the public.

Gänsemarkt (lit. Geese Market) is a public square in Hamburg, Germany, located in the Neustadt quarter. The triangular urban square is accessible by streets of Jungfernstieg from the east, Dammtorstraße and Valentinskamp in the north west and ABC-Straße in the south.

Jungfernstieg (German pronunciation: [juːŋfɛʀnstiːk]) is an underground railway station in the city centre of Hamburg, Germany, served by the underground railway (U-Bahn) and the suburban railway (S-Bahn). The station is one of Hamburg's busiest rapid transit hubs. Most of the station is located underwater. That is, under the Alster River, and the lakes Binnenalster and Kleine Alster respectively. At this location, the Alster also forms the border between the two Hamburg districts Neustadt and Altstadt, both part of the borough of Hamburg-Mitte. The station is named after Jungfernstieg boulevard.

The Alsterhaus is a five-story department store at Jungfernstieg 16–20 in Hamburg that opened in 1912. From 1994 to 2014 it was a branch of the department store group Karstadt (as part of Karstadt Premium GmbH), after which it was made a part of KaDeWe Group GmbH together with Oberpollinger in Munich and the KaDeWe in Berlin. The department store has a sales area of around 24,000 m2 (260,000 sq ft) and specializes in items such as perfume, accessories, clothing and delicatessen. On the fourth floor there is a Le-Buffet restaurant with a view of the Binnenalster. It is open Monday to Saturday from 10 A.M. to 8 P.M. The Alsterhaus also has its own parking garage, which can be reached via Poststraße and Bei der Stadtwassermühle street.

Stephansplatz (Stephan Square) is a square in Neustadt quarter, Hamburg, Germany. It is located at the junction of the streets of Dammtordamm, Esplanade, Dammtorstraße, and Gorch-Fock-Wall, south of Dammtor area and Dammtor station. The square is named after German Empire post director Heinrich von Stephan, who is known for his role in the founding of the Universal Postal Union. The square and a small part of the streets of Dammtordamm and Dammtorstraße had been renamed in the course of the inauguration of the historical building of Alte Oberpostdirektion (Old Hamburg Post Office Administration) at the square.

The Ohnsorg-Theater in Hamburg, Germany, is a stage for plays run after the British system of repertory theatre with up to six produced plays per season. Plays are exclusively performed in low German (Platt). They play a major role in spreading the knowledge and, in recent times, renewed appreciation of this minority language. Exceptions played in standard German (Hochdeutsch) are only made for television broadcasts. These broadcasts, by the regional Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) and the nationwide ARD have made the theatre and its former main star Heidi Kabel popular across Germany and beyond. The theatre is known for comedies, the majority of them set in the typical environment of Northern German farmers, fishermen and merchants. The theatre also performs serious works of traditional literature and musical theatre as well as adaptations in Platt of international material, such as the stage version of Stephen King's Misery and original plays such as Tennessee Williams's Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Robert Thomas's 8 Women, Willy Russell's Shirley Valentine, Lawrence Roman's Alone Together and Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
