Hundsheimer Berg

Hundsheimer Berg is a nature reserve in the Austrian municipalities of Hundsheim and Hainburg an der Donau in the province of Lower Austria located on the slopes of the Hundsheimer Berg. Half of the reserve is owned by WWF Austria with the other half being owned by the municipality of Hundsheim. The Hundsheimer Berg is for example used for excursions by the University of Vienna.

Spitzerberg is a nature reserve in the Austrian municipality of Prellenkirchen in the province of Lower Austria. It forms one of the biggest nature reserves of Lower Austria and is located on the Spitzerberg, the southern extension of the Hundsheimer Berge. The nature reserve has an IUCN category IV protection level and is part of the Natura 2000 area Hundsheimer Berge. The area is covered by rock steppes, dry and half dry grasslands and dry forests. The steep slopes of the Spitzerberg consist of limestone and dolomite. In combination with the very thin humus layer, this creates an extremely dry environment. From 2004 till 2008 the Spitzerberg nature reserve was part of the LIFE-Nature-project Pannonische Steppen- und Trockenrasen.

Hainburg an der Donau (also referred to simply as Hainburg) is a town located in the Bruck an der Leitha district in the state of Lower Austria of eastern Austria. In 2021 it had a population of about 7,000.

Donau-Auen National Park (German: Nationalpark Donau-Auen) covers 93 square kilometres in Vienna and Lower Austria and is one of the largest remaining floodplains of the Danube in Middle Europe. The German word Aue (variant Au) means "river island, wetland, floodplain, riparian woodland", i.e. a cultivated landscape in a riparian zone. The words Aue and Au occur in a large number of German place names—including Donau, the German word for the Danube River—and refer to forests, meadows, and wetlands in river and stream lowlands and floodplains. The Danube-Auen National Park protects a large area of lowland forests, meadows, wetlands, and other riparian habitat along the Danube just downstream of Vienna. The Park was designated an IUCN category II national park and spans the areas of Vienna (Lobau), Groß-Enzersdorf, Orth an der Donau, Eckartsau, Engelhartstetten, Hainburg, Bad Deutsch-Altenburg, Petronell-Carnuntum, Regelsbrunn, Haslau-Maria Ellend, Fischamend and Schwechat.

Braunsberg is a 346 m high limestone massif in Hainburg an der Donau, Austria, on the shore of the Danube. Its plateau used to host a Celtic town, and still bears traces of the Celtic-Roman era.

The Hundsheimer Berge (also Hainburger Berge) is a hill range located in Lower Austria and Burgenland, Austria next to the Devín Gate. It is the most southern part of the Devín Carpathians. The mountain range covers approximately 36 square kilometres (14 sq mi) and is bordered by the river Danube to the north and east, and the Vienna plate to the south and west. Its highest peak is Hundsheimer Berg at 481 metres (1,578 ft) AMSL. While fairly low, the Hundsheimer Berge rise from only 140 metres (460 ft) above sea level by the Danube.The mountains are densely forested, mostly with beech trees. The southern slopes are traditionally used by humans for agriculture and particularly wine-making. There are many vineyards in the area. South of Edelstal are wine cellars offering wine-tasting. The mountains feature the ruins of the Pottenburg Castle. Spitzerberg Airport (German: Flugplatz Spitzerberg, ICAO: LOAS) is a private use airport in Hundsheim, Lower Austria, Austria. The airport is located at the foot of the Spitzerberg. Part of the runway is included in the Spitzerberg nature reserve.

Bad Deutsch-Altenburg, until 1928 Deutsch-Altenburg (Hungarian: Németóvár) is a market town and spa in the district of Bruck an der Leitha in Lower Austria in Austria.

The Occupation of the Hainburger Au wetlands in December 1984 marked a turning point for environmental awareness in German speaking central Europe and was of great significance for the development of democratic processes in Austria. The Hainburger Au is a large naturally occurring flood plain bordering the River Danube at, and upstream of, Hainburg in Lower Austria. It is a short distance to the east of Vienna's main airport. Since 1996 it has been part of the Danube-Auen National Park. In February 1983, the Austrian branch of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) began a campaign under the slogan "Rettet die Auen" to preserve the Hainburger Au flood plain. With the help of various media channels the WWF began to publicise the threat of impending destruction for a large part of the region. The threat came from plans, which at the end of 1984 still enjoyed the full support of the Austrian government, to construct a hydro-electric power plant. As events unfolded, the nature of the protesters' demonstrations and a mass-occupation of the threatened area changed peoples' understanding of democracy as well as national energy policy in Austria.

The Morava (German: March, Hungarian: Morva, Polish: Morawa) is a river in Central Europe, a left tributary of the Danube. It is the main river of Moravia, which derives its name from it. The river originates on the Králický Sněžník mountain in the north-eastern corner of Pardubice Region, near the border between the Czech Republic and Poland and has a vaguely southward trajectory. The lower part of the river's course forms the border between the Czech Republic and Slovakia and then between Austria and Slovakia.

Devín Castle (Slovak: hrad Devín [ˈɦrad ˈɟeʋiːn] or Devínsky hrad [ˈɟeʋiːnski ˈɦrat], Hungarian: Dévényi vár, German: Burg Theben) is a castle in Devín, which is a borough of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.
