Colorado Technical University

CIVA Charter High School, whose acronym stands for Character, Integrity, Vision, and the Arts, is a public charter school in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States. It is authorized by Colorado Springs District 11.

On November 27, 2015, a mass shooting occurred in a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to nine. A police officer and two civilians were killed; five police officers and four civilians were injured. After a standoff that lasted five hours, police SWAT teams crashed armored vehicles into the lobby and the attacker surrendered.The attacker, Robert Lewis Dear Jr., was arrested, charged in state court with first-degree murder, and ordered held without bond. At court appearances, Dear repeatedly interrupted proceedings, made statements affirming his guilt (although he did not enter a formal plea), and expressed anti-abortion and anti-Planned Parenthood views, calling himself "a warrior for the babies." He also asserted his desire to act as his own attorney in the criminal case against him. Subsequent mental competency evaluations ordered by the state court determined Dear to be delusional. The judge presiding over the state case ruled in May 2016 that Dear was incompetent to stand trial and ordered him indefinitely confined to a Colorado state mental hospital, where he has remained ever since. In 2018, the court ruled that Dear remains incompetent to stand trial. In December 2019, separate federal charges were brought against Dear. The incident drew comments from the anti-abortion and abortion-rights movements, as well as political leaders. This was the second of two shootings in Colorado Springs in less than a month; the first occurred 28 days earlier.

Nichols Field, also known as Alexander Airport, was an airfield 3 mi (4.8 km) north of the Colorado Springs, Colorado city between the Pikeview RR station, and the Papeton and Roswell neighborhoods.

The ProRodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy was opened in August 1979 as a museum designed to "preserve the legacy of the cowboy contests, the heritage and culture of those original competitions, and the champions of the past, present and future." It is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and only inducts Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and Women's Professional Rodeo Association members. It is the "only museum in the world devoted exclusively to the sport of professional rodeo."

Colorado Springs Christian Schools is a 501c3 private Christian school system in the cities of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Woodland Park, Colorado. It has a "​Colorado Springs Campus" at 4855 Mallow Road, and​​ a "Woodland Park Campus", at 1003 Tamarac Parkway. It includes Pre-K to high school level education. It has two middle schools and includes Colorado Springs Christian High School. It was founded in 1971.As has happened for many private schools, CSCS has grown during COVID-19. CSCS re-opened earlier than public schools in its area. CSCS' students' problems dealing with Covid were addressed in a 2021 event.The Woodland Park campus was opened in 2005 as a K-5 school, and added 6th, 7th, and 8th grade levels successively in 2019, 2020, 2021.

Pikeview (Pike View, Pike's View) is a neighborhood of Colorado Springs, annexed to the city as the "Pike View Addition" on August 1, 1962. In 1896 there was a Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad station in Pikeview, and miners had begun digging a shaft for the Pikeview Coal Mine. Pikeview also had a quarry beginning 1905 for the mining of limestone for concrete. Coal mining ended in 1957, but the Pikeview Quarry continues to operate. Quarry operations, though, have created a gash or scar in the landscape and efforts have been made since the late 1980s to reclaim the hillside landscape. The Greg Francis Bighorn Sheep Habitat in what had been Queens Canyon Quarry was founded in 2003 in recognition of the individuals and organizations that have worked to create a nature hillside habitat.

Roswell, now annexed into the city of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was a coal mine settlement near the northern bluffs of Colorado Springs and a 19th-century railroad junction. The town was located at roughly the present intersection of Fillmore Street and North Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs.

The Navajo Hogan is a historic building and restaurant located on 2817 N. Nevada Ave. in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 13, 1990. The building is currently a restaurant.

The Fort Collins Municipal Railway Car No. 22 is a streetcar listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Since 1995, the car has been located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.The car was built for use in Fort Collins, Colorado, by the American Car Company of St. Louis in 1919 and was used until 1951, when the streetcar service in Fort Collins was abandoned. It is a type of streetcar known as a Birney "Safety Car". The Rocky Mountain Railroad Club purchased it in 1953 and moved it to Denver. After five years in storage, car 22 was moved to the Colorado Railroad Museum in 1958 and put on display there. In 1994, the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club began leasing No. 22 to the Pikes Peak Historical Street Railway Foundation (PPHSRF), in Colorado Springs, and the car was moved there in 1995. When the 10-year lease expired, the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club agreed to sell the streetcar to the PPHSRF, which has a short section of operational streetcar line. In 2007, PPHSRF, now doing business under the name of the former Colorado Springs & Interurban Railway (CS&IR), changed No. 22's current identity by giving it a new paint scheme and renumbering it as CS&IR No. 135.Car 135, ex-Fort Collins 22, is one of two preserved Fort Collins streetcars listed on the National Register. The other is Fort Collins Municipal Railway Birney Safety Streetcar No. 21. A third Birney-type streetcar listed on the National Register is Birney Safety Streetcar No. 224, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Templeton Gap is a gap between hills and bluffs located in northeastern Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado. It was used by Native Americans to reach Ute Pass and was an area that oxen trains traveled to reach Colorado Springs. Templeton Ranch was operated by A.J. Templeton, for whom the feature is named. During heavy rains, water pools in a basin about the city and funnels through the gap and has resulted in devastating floods. The Templeton Gap Floodway was built in 1949 to divert waters and reduce the likelihood of flooding. The city operates a trail named Templeton Gap trail.

Penrose Hospital is a 364-bed hospital hospital located in Colorado Springs, Colorado and owned by Penrose-Saint Francis Health Services. The campus includes Penrose Hospital, the Penrose Cancer Center, the E Tower building, the Penrose Pavilion, and John Zay House.Founded in 1890 as the Glockner Tuberculosis Sanatorium, it became the Penrose Tumor Institute (now the Penrose Cancer Center) in 1939. In 1959, it became Penrose Hospital. It provides medical and surgical services, and specializes in the treatment of cardiac conditions and cancer. It offers emergency trauma care as well as physical rehabilitation.

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is a public research university in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is one of four campuses that make up the University of Colorado system. As of Fall 2017, UCCS had over 12,400 undergraduate and 1,822 graduate students, with 32% ethnic minority students. It is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity".
