The Maribyrnong River is a perennial river of the Port Phillip catchment, located in the north–western suburbs of Melbourne, in the Australian state of Victoria.

Coode Canal is a reach of the lower Yarra River in Melbourne, the capital city of the Australian state of Victoria. The canal was excavated in 1886, as part of harbour improvements designed by Sir John Coode to improve access for ships to Melbourne's main river docks. It created Coode Island and caused the shallow, narrow and winding Fishermans Bend to be cut off along with other sections of the river including Humbug Reach and the original junction with the Maribyrnong River (or Saltwater River).Coode Canal and Victoria Dock received an Engineering Heritage Marker from Engineers Australia as part of its Engineering Heritage Recognition Program.

North Yarra Province was an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Council, the upper house of the Victorian Parliament. It was created in the redistribution of provinces in 1882 when the original provinces of Central and Eastern were abolished. The new North Yarra, North Eastern, North Central, Melbourne East, Melbourne North, Melbourne South and Melbourne West Provinces were then created.North Yarra consisted of the following divisions: Hotham North, Hotham South, Fitzroy North, St. Mark's, Fitzroy (East), Fitzroy (West), Darling Gardens, Glasshouse (North), Glasshouse (South), Abbotsford, Footscray, North Williamstown and South Williamstown.North Yarra Province was abolished in the redistribution of 1904 when new provinces including Melbourne North Province and Melbourne East Province were created.

Pier 35 is a pier along Lorimer Street on the Yarra River in Port Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It contains the Pier 35 Bar and Grill restaurant, formerly the Steakhouse, and d'Albora Marinas, a major supplier of marina berths. In 2004, Australia's leading marina owner, Macquarie Leisure, purchased Pier 35 for almost $A15 million.

Port Melbourne is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 3 km (2 mi) south-west of the Melbourne central business district, located within the Cities of Melbourne and Port Phillip local government areas. HMAS Lonsdale is a former Royal Australian Navy (RAN) training base that was located at Beach Street, Port Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Originally named Cerberus III, the Naval Reserve Base was commissioned as HMAS Lonsdale on 1 August 1940 during the Second World War.Lonsdale was decommissioned in 1992, and the site now houses a luxury apartment complex known as HM@S Lonsdale, designed by Fender Katsalidis Architects.

The City of Port Melbourne was a local government area about 4 kilometres (2 mi) southwest of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia, on the south bank of the Yarra River. The city covered an area of 10.62 square kilometres (4.10 sq mi), and existed from 1860 until 1994. The West Gate Bridge is a steel, box girder, cable-stayed bridge in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, spanning the Yarra River just north of its mouth into Port Phillip. It carries the West Gate Freeway and is a vital link between the Melbourne central business district (CBD) and western suburbs, with the industrial suburbs in the west, and with the city of Geelong 80 kilometres (50 mi) to the south-west. It is part of one of the busiest road corridors in Australia. The high span bridge was built to allow large cargo ships to access the docks in the Yarra River. The main river span is 336 metres (1,102 ft) long, and 58 metres (190 ft) above the water. The total length of the bridge is 2,582.6 metres (8,473 ft). It is the fifth-longest in Australia, the longest being Melbourne's Bolte Bridge at 5 kilometres (3.1 mi). The West Gate Bridge is twice as long as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and is one of the highest road decks in Australia, higher than Sydney Harbour Bridge's 49 metres (161 ft). The bridge passes over Westgate Park, a large environmental and recreational reserve created during the bridge's construction. It carries up to 200,000 vehicles per day.

Seddon is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 7 km (4.3 mi) west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Maribyrnong local government area. Seddon recorded a population of 5,143 at the 2021 census.Located south of Footscray and north of Yarraville, Seddon was formerly a semi-industrial, working-class suburb. In recent years Seddon has experienced rapid gentrification due to its close proximity to the Melbourne City Centre.

Westgate Park is a public park located in the industrial centre of Melbourne, Victoria. The park is 6 km (3.7 miles) from Melbourne's Central Business District and covers 40 hectares of land. The park is situated along the eastern banks of the Yarra River under the Westgate Bridge.

Footscray Town Hall, also known as Maribyrnong Town Hall since council amalgamations in the 1990s, is a civic building located on Napier Street in Footscray, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. The hall was built in 1936 to the design of architect Joseph Plottel in the Romanesque Revival—Richardson Romanesque style. It replaced the previous town hall on the same site, which was demolished in 1935. The building is now used as the main council chambers of the City of Maribyrnong.
