Grace Academy is a private Christian university-model school located in Stallings, North Carolina. The school started back in 2000 and has grown from about 50 students to over 450 students stretching from Kindergarten-12th grade. Often described as a "home-school school", this is partly the truth because the majority of students take a few classes at Grace and take a few other classes at home or at other schools, such as Central Piedmont Community College. The format of the school is different from traditional schools. At Grace Academy, students choose up to 5 classes a day, and take those classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students can also choose a different set of up to 5 classes which they will attend Tuesdays and Thursdays, so all together one student can take anywhere from 1 to 10 courses. There is no school on Fridays. School days at Grace Academy last 5 hours and 45 minutes, from 8:25 to 2:00. This is so students who are taking classes at home may have plenty of time to do so. Grace Academy students only attend the school 120 days in a year, which is a drastic change from a traditional private or public school.

Matthews Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Matthews, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 10 contributing buildings in the central business district of Matthews. It was developed between 1888 and 1939. Notable buildings include the United States Post Office (1939), Heath and Reid General Store (1888), Funderburk Brothers complex (1890s), and Renfrow Hardware (c. 1900).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

WFNZ-FM (92.7 MHz) is a sports radio station in Charlotte, North Carolina owned and operated by Radio One. The station's studios are located at 1 Julian Price Place just off Morehead Street in Charlotte. The transmitter site is in Charlotte's Newell South neighborhood. WFNZ-FM is the Charlotte affiliate of CBS Sports Radio, carrying network programming on nights and weekends. It airs local sports hosts weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. WFNZ serves as the flagship station for the NBA'S Charlotte Hornets and Major League Soccer's Charlotte FC. Whenever there is a conflict, Charlotte FC matches air on sister stations WBT AM-FM.

The Sportsplex at Matthews is a large sports complex and park in Matthews, North Carolina, southeast of Charlotte, featuring 12 full-sized soccer fields anchored by a 2,300-seat stadium. The stadium currently seats 5,000 as it has been expanded using modular seating.In 2018 bleacher seating was placed around Field 10 creating a smaller auxiliary stadium used by the Charlotte Independence as a training field and occasionally by the Charlotte Eagles and Lady Eagles for matches.
