Stave Lake is a lake and reservoir for the production of hydroelectricity in the Stave River system, located on the northern edge of the District of Mission, about 65 km (40 mi) east of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The main arm of the lake is about 20 km (12 mi) long from north to south and its southwest arm, ending at Stave Falls Dam near Stave Falls, is about 9.5 km (5.9 mi) long. The total area of the lake currently is about 55 square kilometres (21 square miles). Prior to construction of the dam, the lake was about one-third the size of its current main arm. The Stave River, the traditional territory of the Sxa'yaks (Skayuks), a vanished Halqemeylem-speaking Coast Salish people related to today's Sto:lo, was a productive salmon river. The Skayuks demise was caused by the introduction of smallpox by the Europeans and subsequent expansion by the Kwantlen First Nation. The presence of large red cedar trees attracted lumber companies, notably Stave Lake Cedar, whose mill was a mile above the damsite. The lower portion of the Stave is called Hayward Lake, formed by Ruskin Dam and formerly a canyon similar to Capilano and Lynn Canyons, and at its head in the grounds of the one-time community of worker's housing, there is a recreation area there and the beginning of a lakeside trail using the right-of-way of a railway line.

Davis Lake Provincial Park is a 185 acres (0.75 km2) park in British Columbia, Canada, established as a protected provincial park in October 1963. It is located east of the southern end of Stave Lake, northeast of Mission, British Columbia, approximately 18 km north on Sylvester Rd from BC Highway 7. There are campgrounds and beaches at the south end of the lake, access is walk-in only via a 1 km unmaintained gravel road. The park features bird habitat for sapsuckers, woodpeckers and spotted owls as well as a relatively untouched stand of old growth Western Hemlock.Davis Lake Provincial Park attractions include: canoeing and kayaking, although there are no campsites accessible via kayak or canoe, fishing - requiring a fishing permit, hiking - in particular to McDonald Falls, on Murdo Creek, accessed downhill from the Lost Creek Forest Service Road (continuation of Sylvester Road) just east of the lake. swimmingA 2018 report by the Vancouver Sun indicated that the province had some way to go with urgent need for better park management, in particular in the case of Davis Lake Provincial Park.

Cascade Falls Regional Park is a regional park under the administration of the Fraser Valley Regional District in the Hatzic Valley of the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada. The park was originally 9.5 hectares in area but was expanded to a current 22 hectares. It has picnic tables and pit toilets, with various hiking trails and a walkway leading to a viewing platform over a large waterfall, which is 15 minutes walk from the park's parking lot. The falls and their associated park have the following features: 30-metre waterfall Suspension bridge spanning Cascade Creek Viewing platforms on either side of the suspension bridge 1 km trail featuring stairs through coniferous forest Small run of waterfalls dropping 18 metres into tranquil lower poolsIt is located in the McConnell Creek area northeast of Mission. Cascade Creek was formerly named McConnell Creek, after a logger in the area called Jack McConnell, who in fact had changed his name from John Connell further to the failure of his logging business. Cascade Creek drains into the southeast end of Stave Lake southwest of Davis Lake Provincial Park.The park was first proposed in 1984 via studies commissioned by the Dewdney-Alouette Regional District and officially inaugurated on June 7, 1986. The park is open from 7AM till sunset, throughout the year.Cascade Falls was featured in the final scene of the film Big Bully, as the location of a fight between characters played by Tom Arnold and Rick Moranis.

Mount Crickmer is one of the southernmost summits of the Garibaldi Ranges of the Coast Mountains, overlooking the Central Fraser Valley in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Canada. Forming a rocky knoll at the northern end of a relatively flat-topped southeast–northwest axis ridge named Blue Mountain, which divides the basin of Alouette Lake, which lies immediately below it to the west, and the valley of the Stave River; Stave Lake is immediately at its eastern foot. A northerly ridge towards Mount Robie Reid, the next summit northwards, forms a col at Florence and Morgan Lakes low enough to give Crickmer a considerable prominence of 1049m. Beneath that col there is a diversion tunnel feeding the waters of Alouette Lake to the Alouette Powerhouse on Stave Lake. Crickmer is the highest point in the City of Mission and was named on April 1, 1957 for the Reverend William Burton Crickmer, the first rector of the Church of St. John the Divine, at Derby (Old Fort Langley) in 1859.

The Hatzic Valley is the southerly, lowland portion of the Fraser Valley Regional District Electoral Area "F" of British Columbia's Lower Mainland. The valley was carved as a result of southward glacial action, being "centered along a low‐lying glacial trough that extends from Stave Lake to the Fraser Valley."The perimeter of Hatzic Valley is described in the current British Columbian Official Community Plan document “Official Community Plan for Hatzic Valley, Electoral Area “F” Bylaw No. 0999, 2010”, published by the Fraser Valley Regional District, and which illustrates the valley as occupying the area from the southeast point of Stave Lake in the northwest to Hatzic Lake in the south.The valley is flanked on the eastern side by the Douglas Ranges, the ridge nearest the valley known as Durieu Ridge, the southern point of which forms Dewdney Peak. The valley includes the area occupied by Davis Lake Provincial Park and Mount St. Benedict in the north and that of Cascade Falls Regional Park in the northeast. The valley measures about 12.5 kilometers long from Davis Lake to Hatzic Lake, and about 2.5 kilometers wide at Durieu. The valley is home to approximately 1,300 people.Hatzic Valley in turn comprises various unincorporated communities, specifically Hatzic Prairie in the south, the town of Durieu in the center, and the localities of McConnell Creek and Miracle Valley in the north.

Mount Robie Reid 2,095 m (6,873 ft) is a mountain in the eastern part of Golden Ears Provincial Park in the southern end of the Garibaldi Ranges overlooking the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada. It lies to the north of Mission, British Columbia and on the west side of the upper end of Stave Lake, and to the northeast of the group of summits known as the Golden Ears. Mount Judge Howay is to the north. Robie Reid has a prominence of 1,245 m (4,085 ft) relative to the lowest col between the valleys of Tingle and Osprey Creeks (Osprey Creek is a tributary to the Pitt River drainage). Together with Mount Judge Howay, which lies northeast across the deep valley of Tingle Creek, it was known as one of the Snow Peaks, and until its renaming in 1944 was referred to by old-timers as Old Baldy. Its name commemorates Robie Lewis Reid, a noted historian and educator whose colleague Frederic W. Howay is commemorated by Mount Judge Howay. Although relatively low, views of it dominate the mountain skyline from western Abbotsford and is also visible from Maple Ridge, North Surrey and New Westminster-Coquitlam, though from most of Mission it is invisible due to intervening smaller mountains and hill country.

Durieu is an unincorporated predominantly farming community, located around five kilometers northeast of Mission, British Columbia, Canada in Area F of the Fraser Valley Regional District of that province's Lower Mainland at an elevation of between twenty and forty meters above sea level. Durieu falls mostly within zone 1 of the Agricultural Land Reserve. Sited in the middle of Hatzic Valley it has few services other than a store, gas station, feed co-op, defunct elementary school and community hall. Hatzic Prairie's former post office was renamed to Durieu Post Office in remembrance of Archbishop Pierre-Paul Durieu around 1910. This in turn led to British Columbian government officials and cartographers using the name "Durieu" to describe the local settlement from 1939. Durieu currently holds community-level status per the BC Geographic names office.

Steelhead is a rural community in British Columbia, Canada, located in the northern District of Mission and east of Stave Falls.

Stave Falls Dam is a dual-dam power complex on the Stave River in Stave Falls, British Columbia, Canada. The dam was completed in 1912 for the primary purpose of hydroelectric power production. To increase the capacity of Stave Lake, the dam was raised in 1925 and the Blind Slough Dam constructed in an adjacent watercourse 500 m (1,600 ft) to the north, which was the site of the eponymous Stave Falls. In 2000, the dam's powerhouse was replaced after a four-year upgrade. The original Stave Falls powerhouse was once British Columbia's largest hydroelectric power source, and is a National Historic Site of Canada.

Alouette Lake, originally Lillooet Lake and not to be confused with the lake of that name farther north, is a lake and reservoir in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. It is located at the southeast foot of the mountain group known as the Golden Ears and is about 16 km in length on a northeast–southwest axis. It and the Alouette River, formerly the Lillooet River, were renamed in 1914 to avoid confusion with the larger river and lake farther north, with "Alouette", the French word for "lark", being chosen as being melodious and reminiscent of the original name in tone. Most of the basin of Alouette Lake has never been logged and its north flank is protected as part of Golden Ears Provincial Park (formerly part of Garibaldi Provincial Park until that park's division). A small portion of the lake and its largely inaccessible northwestern shore, near its narrows, are actually part of the District of Mission due to the rectangular shape of that district's boundary. North of the portion of the lake that is in Mission, the rest of its northern end is not in either municipality.

Rolley Lake Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada. It is located on Rolley Lake in the Stave Falls area of Mission, British Columbia. The area was inhabited by the Sto:lo people, homesteaded in 1888 by James and Fanny Rolley, and later used for logging operations. The park now provides campsites, use of the lake, and hiking, with an area of 115 hectares (280 acres).Rolley Lake has a day-use area, camping site, and two popular hiking trails. Rolley Lake trail circles the lake and is an easy 3-kilometre (1.9 mi) loop. Rolley Falls hike is a 2.5-kilometre (1.6 mi) out-and-back trail that starts at the campsite and leads to nearby waterfalls.

The Dewdney-Alouette Regional District was a regional district in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Canada, comprising the district municipalities of Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge and Mission and unincorporated areas east to the Harrison River and north to the southern end of Lillooet Lake. The regional district was partitioned when the Greater Vancouver Regional District (branded Metro Vancouver) was expanded in 1995 to take in Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge; the regional district's eastern half was combined with the former Central Fraser Valley Regional District and the Regional District of Fraser-Cheam to form the Fraser Valley Regional District.
