WKXV (900 AM and WKXV-FM 100.7, "Knoxville's Best") is a radio station broadcasting a religious format. The station serves the Knoxville, Tennessee area. The station is currently owned by Ra-Tel Broadcasting Company, Inc.WKXV has been consistent in its format since 1953. WKXV hosts many different denominations among the various local and national religious/talk programs. Many of the locally produced programs are broadcast live from the WKXV studios. Some are broadcast from their church via live remote or tape delayed. It broadcasts community news, local church events, and other function several times daily. WKXV is locally owned and operated by Ra-Tel Broadcasting Co. Inc., and operates on a daytime power of 1000 watts and late-night power of 258 watts. WKXV Radio began broadcasting February 14, 1953. WKXV broadcasts 50% Religious/Talk Programming and devotes the other 50% to Southern, Traditional, and Christian Country Gospel Music. It also broadcasts many nationally syndicated religious programs as well as locally produced programs produced by area churches, pastors and evangelists.

The Airplane Service Station, also known as the Powell Airplane, is a service station built in 1930 in the shape of an airplane. Located at 6829 Clinton Highway in Powell, an unincorporated community in Knox County, Tennessee, it is on the National Register of Historic Places. The station was built by brothers Elmer and Henry Nickle. Their intent was to increase business by having a service station that was visually unique, both to area residents and to travelers on newly widened U.S. Highway 25. Elmer Nickle had a strong interest in airplanes, and so the station was constructed in the Mimetic architectural style in the shape of an airplane.The structure ceased being used as a service station in the 1960s, when it became a liquor store. It has also been a produce stand, bait and tackle shop, a used car lot and a barber shop. Knox Heritage and a local organization, the Airplane Filling Station Preservation Association (AFSPA), are working to preserve the structure.

Forest Heights is a neighborhood in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is located in West Knoxville, surrounded by the concurrent Interstates 40 and 75 to the north, Highland Memorial Cemetery to the west, and Sutherland Avenue to the south. The oldest parts of the neighborhood along Forest Hills Boulevard have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Forest Hills Boulevard Historic District. Powell High School is a public high school located in Powell, Tennessee, just north of Knoxville. It is part of the Knox County Schools. The first high school in Powell was established in 1874 and was called Perkins High School. In 1916, it was renamed for Columbus Powell, the prominent person for whom the Powell Railroad Depot had been named earlier.The principal is Chad Smith. Assistant principals are Jan Deaderick, Madeline Ferguson, and Amos Whitehead.

WITA (1490 AM, "Inspiration 1490") is a Christian radio station located in Knoxville, Tennessee. It broadcasts a Christian format with some conservative talk shows and news from the USA Radio Network. In the late 1960s into the mid-1970s, WITA was known as WROL, "Real Rock And Roll Radio". It was the only station in Knoxville airing an AOR format, playing album cuts from artists such as the Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin and the Grateful Dead. The station boasted Knoxville's first female DJ to gain popularity with the University Of Tennessee student population, Leslie Shelor (Leslie Shelor Swann after marriage; also known as "Peggy Swann" to good friends). During this period it was known as "W-149" as a play on its frequency of 1490 kHz. The daytime 1,000-watt signal originated in Fountain City in north Knoxville, but the nighttime 250-watt signal originated at a separate transmitter site which was much closer to campus. In the mid-1970s the station switched format to top 40 as WKVQ (15Q), but found it difficult to compete with more powerful signals like WNOX and WOKI-FM. By the late 1970s the religious format had begun. 2018 Gubernatorial Libertarian candidate Vinnie Vineyard, better known as Funkmaster V from Wrestling With Ghosts, hosted an hour long rock/ comedy program entitled "Cousin Vinnie's Rock N Roll Show" on the station during 1995–1996.

Powell, formerly known as Powell Station, is a census-designated place in Knox County, Tennessee. The area is located in the Emory Road corridor (State Route 131), just north of Knoxville, southeast of Clinton, and east of Oak Ridge. It had a population of 13,802 during the 2020 census. It is included in the Knoxville, TN Metropolitan Statistical Area.
