Oxclose Community Academy

Oxclose is an area of Washington, Tyne and Wear, England. It is located between the A1231, A182 and A195 highways, close to Sunderland, and is well served by links from the A1(M) which passes within 1 mile (1.6 km) of Oxclose's boundaries. Oxclose covers an area of approximately 0.1 square miles (300,000 m2) and has a population of around 3800 (2001 Census). There are two churches, a 'Multi-Purpose' Centre and a village centre which contains a shop, newsagents, fish and chip shop and a local pub called The Ox and Plough. It is also near to the Galleries Shopping Centre.

Lambton is an area of Washington, Tyne and Wear, which is part of the City of Sunderland metropolitan borough in north east England. It lies about 2 miles (3 km) northeast of Chester-le-Street. It is historically part of County Durham. It is linked to the Lambton family, Lambton Castle and is the home of the Lambton Worm. New Lambton is located just a few miles from the Lambton estate.

Blackfell is a village located in the new town of Washington, Tyne and Wear in England.Construction of the village began in the 1960s, and was completed over several years. The original prefabricated maisonettes in the east side of the village have now been replaced with new-build homes. The village was built near the site of Blackfell Army Camp (no longer in existence) also covering Blackfell Caravan and Camping Club, and the old coal pit in Albany (now a small museum). The village is between the A182, A1231 and the A194. Despite this, local bus services link the village with others in Washington. When Washington New Town was constructed, each village was given its own industrial estate to employ the local workforce. A recently constructed B&Q (which was built around a Dickens DIY store, which was itself built on the RCA Record factory ground) dominates the Armstrong Industrial Estate closest to Blackfell.

Washington Galleries Bus Station is located in the town of Washington in Tyne and Wear. The bus station was constructed in the early 1970s, to serve the adjacent Galleries Shopping Centre, which opened in 1974.

Albany is a suburb of Washington in the City of Sunderland in Tyne and Wear, historically part of County Durham. It is in the north of the town. The village is also relatively close to The Galleries Shopping Centre, Washington. Washington F.C. play their home games at Albany Park, but the football ground is often mistaken for being a part of Concord Village, which is just east of Albany.

Springwell Village is a village in the City of Sunderland, bordering Gateshead, approximately 7.6 miles (12.2 km) from Newcastle upon Tyne, 9 miles (14 km) from Sunderland, and 13 miles (21 km) from Durham. In 2011, Census data for the City of Sunderland ward of Washington West recorded a total population of 11,833.The village is home to one church, Springwell Village Methodist Church, as well as three shops and two local pubs – The Guidepost in the centre of the village, and The Ship on the outskirts. The area surrounding the village consists mainly of farmland, as well as land used for equestrian activities.

Washington and Gateshead South is a constituency of the House of Commons in the UK Parliament. The constituency was created by the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, and was first contested at the 2024 general election.

Fatfield is an area of Washington, Tyne and Wear, England. The southern part of the village by the River Wear is popular for country walks and the three public houses and working men's club on the banks of the river. The site of the original village is just to the west.

Rickleton is an area of Washington, Tyne and Wear, England. It is located on the south side of Washington Town and borders Harraton village, Birtley and County Durham. The village centre includes a Londis supermarket, a general store, a hairdressing salon, a Fish and Chip takeaway and a bus link, which has buses linking to other areas of Washington and County Durham. A family pub, The Woodlands, Washington Cricket club, two doctors surgeries and a chemists can also be found here. There is also a large field with a small children's playing area located just of the bus route through Rickleton. Vigo Lane is the main road and runs through Rickleton and into Harraton. The Sea to Sea Cycle Route runs through the village, on the site of a disused railway. Rickleton Primary School is located in the village centre.

Harraton is a former civil parish and now a suburb in the unparished area of the town of Washington, in the City of Sunderland metropolitan borough, in Tyne and Wear, England. Harraton is near the River Wear and is 3 miles north-east of Chester-le-Street, 2 miles south-west of Washington town centre and 9 miles south-southwest of Sunderland. When nearby Washington (historically a village) was founded as a new town under the New Towns Act in 1964, Harraton alongside the neighboring villages of Chaters-Hough, Fatfield, Cox Green and Picktree became suburbs of Washington forming the southern suburbs of the town. Certain developments also took place for overspill for the nearby towns of Chester Le Street and Houghton-le-Spring (also in the City of Sunderland metropolitan borough). It is on the main road serving Seahouses and the northern coast. In 1961 the parish had a population of 3,565.

Vigo railway station served the Barley Mow and Vigo areas of the town of Birtley in Tyne and Wear (historically County Durham) in England. The station, on the Stanhope and Tyne Railway , was opened in 1835 and closed in 1853. It reopened in 1862 and closed for the final time in 1869.The line remained open to passengers until 1955 and to freight until the 1980s. The site of the station has since been demolished and the trackbed now forms part of the Consett and Sunderland Railway Path between Washington and Chester-le-Street following the course of the old railway line.
