Grayshott

St Edmund's School is a coeducational nursery, pre-prep, preparatory and senior school located in Hindhead, Surrey, around 10.5 miles south-west from the town of Guildford. It was founded in Hunstanton, Norfolk, in 1874.

Beacon Hill, while ecumenically and administratively part of Hindhead, Surrey, is a discrete settlement with its own history, amenities and character. It lies in the southwest corner of Surrey on the A287 road between the towns of Haslemere and Farnham. The village began to be developed in the 19th century. There are three churches, a primary school, a shopping area and a range of sporting facilities and activities in Beacon Hill.

Amesbury School is a co-educational independent prep school in the Hindhead/Haslemere area of Surrey, England, educating pupils between the ages of 9 months and 13 years. It was founded in 1870. The Grade II*-listed main building was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and stands on a 34-acre (140,000 m2) estate.

Ludshott Common and Waggoners Wells (the latter sometimes written with an apostrophe: Waggoners' Wells) is a National Trust reserve; Ludshott Common is an area of heathland and Waggoners Wells a series of man-made ponds with a connecting stream. The reserve is situated between Grayshott, Bramshott and Headley Down in East Hampshire, England. To the south is the large heathland area of Bramshott Common. Some 415 acres (168 ha) is under the care of the Woodland Trust.

Shottermill & Haslemere Football Club is a football club based in Haslemere, Surrey, England. The club are currently members of the Surrey Intermediate League Premier Division and play at Haslemere Recreational Ground.

Woolmer Hill School, formerly Woolmer Hill Technology College, is the main secondary school in the area of Haslemere, Surrey.

Hindhead is a village in the Waverley district of the ceremonial county of Surrey, England. It is the highest village in the county and its buildings are between 185 metres (607 ft) and 253 metres (830 ft) above sea level. The village forms part of the Haslemere parish. Situated on the county border with Hampshire, it is best known as the location of the Devil's Punch Bowl, a beauty spot and site of special scientific interest. The A3 between Portsmouth and London was crossed by the A287 between Hook and Haslemere. The A3 now passes under Hindhead in the Hindhead Tunnel and its route along the Punch Bowl has been removed and landscaped, but the crossroads still exists for local traffic, as a double mini-roundabout. Hindhead is 11 miles (18 km) south-west of Guildford and on the border with Hampshire. It is a ward in the district of Waverley, and part of the civil parish of Haslemere. The ward, which includes Beacon Hill, had a population of 4,292 at the 2011 Census. The name "Hindhead" is first attested in 1571, and means "hill frequented by hinds", or female deer.

Woolmer Hill is an area of high ground in the south-west corner of Surrey, England in the Borough of Waverley abutting Hampshire to the west and West Sussex to the south. It is in the circa 1900-founded parish of Shottermill. In the north it is covered by woodland, and a higher land to the south has its residential neighbourhood on streets Hatchett's Drive and Lower Hanger. The hill reaches 185.5 metres above sea level, its foot being about 60 metres below. The area is bounded to the west by Sandy Lane and to the east by Woolmer Hill Road. To the east is Woolmer Hill School and to its south semi-rural houses and St Mary's Abbey. Most of its buildings are 20th century and the locality or neighbourhood owes this expansion to the enlargement of the A3 trunk road nearby and growth of Haslemere which is a semi-major stop on the Portsmouth Direct Line (railway).

Undershaw is a former residence of the author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes. The house was built for Doyle at his order to accommodate his wife's health requirements, and is where he lived with his family from 1897 to 1907. Undershaw is where Doyle wrote many of his works, including The Hound of the Baskervilles. For decades after Doyle sold the house, Undershaw served as a hotel, which closed in 2004. The property was then vacant, and the subject of controversy. In 2014 the house and grounds were purchased by the DFN Charitable Foundation for Stepping Stones School, a school for children with special needs.

The Hindhead Tunnel, opened in 2011, is part of the 4-mile (6.4 km) dual-carriageway that replaced one of the last remaining stretches of single-carriageway on the A3 road which connects the cities of London and Portsmouth. It was built to bypass the village of Hindhead in Surrey. It was constructed to improve road safety, reduce congestion and improve air quality around the village. At 1.14 miles (1.83 km) in length, the tunnel is the longest non-estuarial road tunnel in the United Kingdom, and takes the road beneath the Devil's Punch Bowl, a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Bramshott Common is part of a large expanse of heathland, including Ludshott Common, near Bramshott, Hampshire, England.It was the site of Bramshott Camps, set up to accommodate Canadian troops during the two world wars. It is bisected by the A3 trunk road.

Bramshott Military Camp, often simplified to Camp Bramshott, was a temporary army camp set up on Bramshott Common, Hampshire, England during both the First and Second World Wars. Camp Bramshott was one of three facilities in the Aldershot Command area established by the Canadian Army. The permanent facility on both occasions was at the British Army's Bordon Military Camp. Bramshott was one of two temporary camps set-up for additional accommodation in the lead-up to D-Day, along with Witley Camp. There were five Canadian camps in the immediate vicinity of Camp Bramshott, each one given the name of one of the Great Lakes: Huron and Ontario Camps were located on Bramshott Common near the Portsmouth Road Superior Camp was located at the Grayshott end of Ludshott Common Erie Camp was located at Headley Down, in the area now occupied by Heatherlands estate. Connaught Military Hospital was located on Bramshott Common, adjacent to the A3 Trunk road There is a memorial to the Canadian troops which comprises, according to the Imperial War Museum's dedication page: Avenue of c. 400 trees, one for each Canadian serviceman who died in WW1 and WW2. These trees are each side of the A3 and there is an underpass to cross the road safely. Each tree is twinned with a grave in Bramshott Churchyard and St Joseph's Catholic Church, Grayshott.
