The Hindhead Tunnel, opened in 2011, is part of the 4-mile (6.4 km) dual-carriageway that replaced one of the last remaining stretches of single-carriageway on the A3 road which connects the cities of London and Portsmouth. It was built to bypass the village of Hindhead in Surrey. It was constructed to improve road safety, reduce congestion and improve air quality around the village. At 1.14 miles (1.83 km) in length, the tunnel is the longest non-estuarial road tunnel in the United Kingdom, and takes the road beneath the Devil's Punch Bowl, a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Hindhead is a village in the Waverley district of the ceremonial county of Surrey, England. It is the highest village in the county and its buildings are between 185 metres (607 ft) and 253 metres (830 ft) above sea level. The village forms part of the Haslemere parish. Situated on the county border with Hampshire, it is best known as the location of the Devil's Punch Bowl, a beauty spot and site of special scientific interest. The A3 between Portsmouth and London was crossed by the A287 between Hook and Haslemere. The A3 now passes under Hindhead in the Hindhead Tunnel and its route along the Punch Bowl has been removed and landscaped, but the crossroads still exists for local traffic, as a double mini-roundabout. Hindhead is 11 miles (18 km) south-west of Guildford and on the border with Hampshire. It is a ward in the district of Waverley, and part of the civil parish of Haslemere. The ward, which includes Beacon Hill, had a population of 4,292 at the 2011 Census. The name "Hindhead" is first attested in 1571, and means "hill frequented by hinds", or female deer.

The Devil's Punch Bowl is a 282.2-hectare (697-acre) visitor attraction and biological Site of Special Scientific Interest situated just to the east of the village of Hindhead in the English county of Surrey. It is part of the Wealden Heaths Phase II Special Protection Area.The Punch Bowl is a large natural amphitheatre and is the source of many stories about the area. The London to Portsmouth road (the A3) skirted the rim of the site before the Hindhead Tunnel was built in 2011. The land is now owned and maintained by the National Trust as part of the "Hindhead Commons and the Devil's Punch Bowl" property. The highest point of the rim of the bowl is Gibbet Hill, which is 272 metres (892 ft) above sea level and commands a panoramic view that includes, on a clear day, the skyline of London some 38 miles (61 km) away.The Devil's Punch Bowl was featured on the 2005 TV programme Seven Natural Wonders as one of the wonders of the South.

Gibbet Hill, at Hindhead, Surrey, is the apex of the scarp surrounding the Devil's Punch Bowl, not far from the A3 London to Portsmouth road in England.

Grayshott is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is on the Hampshire / Surrey border 4 miles (6.4 km) northwest of Haslemere by road, and 46 miles (74 km) southwest of central London. The nearest rail link is Haslemere railway station. The present village consists of houses and shops on either side of the B3002 Headley Road, which leads from the A333 at Hindhead to Headley Down, Headley and Bordon, and Crossways Road which runs south east from the centre of the village. East of the village centre, joining these two roads, is Boundary Road, which marks the boundary between Hampshire and Surrey. Originally, the name referred to a hamlet a mile west of the present village. Grayshott was part of Headley parish until 1901 (ecclesiastical parish) and 1902 (civil parish). The present civil parish is part of East Hampshire District.

Beacon Hill, while ecumenically and administratively part of Hindhead, Surrey, is a discrete settlement with its own history, amenities and character. It lies in the southwest corner of Surrey on the A287 road between the towns of Haslemere and Farnham. The village began to be developed in the 19th century. There are three churches, a primary school, a shopping area and a range of sporting facilities and activities in Beacon Hill.

Shottermill & Haslemere Football Club is a football club based in Haslemere, Surrey, England. The club are currently members of the Surrey Intermediate League Premier Division and play at Haslemere Recreational Ground.

Stockstone Quarry is a 3.9-hectare (9.6-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Farnham in Surrey. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This site provides the best exposure of the Bargate Beds, a lithological sub-unit of the rocks of the Lower Greensand, dating to around 120 million years ago in the Lower Cretaceous epoch. It exhibits both calcareous and cherty sandstone.The site is private land with no public access.
