Leoni Township is a civil township of Jackson County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 13,807 at the 2010 census.

East Jackson Secondary School is a public high school located in southern Mid-Michigan in the eastern part of Jackson County. It currently contains approximately 580 students, ranging from grades 7th through 12th. It is the only secondary school in the East Jackson Community Schools district.

Michigan Center is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jackson County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,672 at the 2010 census. The CDP is located within Leoni Township on the eastern border of the city of Jackson. Michigan Center was platted as "Michigan Centre" in 1837 by Abel Fitch and Paul Ring, although there were settlements in the area from at least 1834. The name was presumably derived from the proximity to the Michigan meridian which divided the state into eastern and western portions for surveying. The community is not close to any sort of geographical center of the state. Fitch became the first postmaster in 1838. Michigan Center began developing as a mill town on a tributary of the Grand River. There was a station on the Michigan Central Railroad. However, nearby Jackson rapidly outpaced Michigan Center, which has since become a bedroom community to the city.

Goat Island is an island in Center Lake, in Jackson County, Michigan, at 42°12′51″N 84°18′57″W; the United States Geological Survey gives its elevation as 287 feet (87 m).

The Commercial Exchange Building, also known as the Collins Manufacturing – Jackson Automobile Company complex, is an industrial building complex located at 2301 E. Michigan Ave. in Jackson, Michigan. The building was built partly in 1895, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. The listing included four contributing buildings.

WIBM (1450 AM) is a country music station in Jackson, Michigan owned by Jamie McKibbin, through licensee McKibbin Media Group, Inc. This company also owns news/talk WKHM AM 970 and hot AC WKHM-FM "K105.3". Current programming includes syndicated national morning show THE BOBBY BONES SHOW, Weekdays 6-10am. Middays with Captain Steve, 10am-2pm. And Greg Green in the Afternoons from 2-7pm. WIBM's programming is also heard on FM via translator W240DG at 95.9 MHz.

Robert Cotton Correctional Facility is a state prison for men located in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections.This facility dates from 1985. Cotton, which is an inmate educational facility, is one portion of the former Michigan State Prison, described as the largest walled prison in the world as late as 1981, when it was rocked by extensive, damaging riots. The prison was divided in 1988 into smaller institutions. As of 2016, Cotton and three other components remain open: the Parnall Correctional Facility, a minimum security prison the Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center, an intake and processing facility for all male state prisoners the Cooper Street Correctional Facility, a discharge and processing facility

Henry Ford Allegiance Health is a 475-bed health system in Jackson in the U.S. state of Michigan. Henry Ford Allegiance Health has more than 400 physicians and 3,700 staff members. The health system offers specialized services including a new cancer center and a heart center with a 20-bed cardiac universal bed unit. A new specialty center combines services for patients with brain, spine, neck, joint and bone conditions. The specialty center also includes a new osteoporosis center, balance center and pain management center as well. Other health system features include an emergency department designated as a level II trauma center, urgent care centers, and a pediatric and birthing care. Henry Ford Allegiance Health operates the Henry Ford Allegiance Specialty Hospital (formerly CareLink of Jackson) to provide long-term acute care. The Health System also provides care at family medical centers in Albion, Brooklyn, Grass Lake, Jackson, Leslie, Mason, Onsted and Spring Arbor. Henry Ford Allegiance Radiation Oncology offers cancer care.

The Duane Leonard Waters Hospital (DWH) is a 112 inpatient bed hospital located within the Michigan State Prison in Jackson, Michigan and used for prison inmates and workers. The facility is owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections. It primarily treats inmates whose medical needs cannot be treated at other Michigan Department of Corrections facilities.

The Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center (RGC) is a state prison for men located in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections.RGC houses a maximum of 1382 inmates at a mix of security levels, for the assessment, screening, and classification of all male state prisoners. RGC is adjacent to portions of the former Michigan State Prison, described as the largest walled prison in the world as late as 1981, when it was rocked by extensive, damaging riots. The prison was divided in 1988 into smaller institutions. As of 2016, Parnell and three other local components remain open as prisons: Parnall Correctional Facility, a minimum-security prison the G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility, an educational facility the Cooper Street Correctional Facility, a discharge and processing facilityRGC is named after Charles Egeler, warden of the former Michigan State Prison (at the time called the State Prison of Southern Michigan), on the same site. Egeler lived from May 17, 1928, until March 6, 1977. He was hired by the Michigan Department of Corrections in 1953 and became the warden of the State Prison of Southern Michigan in 1972, the position he held until his death.
