The Duane Leonard Waters Hospital (DWH) is a 112 inpatient bed hospital located within the Michigan State Prison in Jackson, Michigan and used for prison inmates and workers. The facility is owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections. It primarily treats inmates whose medical needs cannot be treated at other Michigan Department of Corrections facilities.

Present-day Parnall is one portion of the former Michigan State Prison, described as the largest walled prison in the world as late as 1981, when it was rocked by extensive, damaging riots. The prison was divided in 1988 into smaller institutions. As of 2016, Parnell and three other components remain open: the G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility, an educational facility the Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center, an intake and processing facility for all male state prisoners the Cooper Street Correctional Facility, a discharge and processing facility

The Cooper Street Correctional Facility is a minimum-security state prison for men located in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections.The facility was created from the former grounds of the Michigan Parole Camp, which was across the street from the former Michigan State Prison. The prison opened in 1997 and holds 814 inmates at a minimum security level, as the common point for processing of all male state prisoners about to be discharged, paroled, or transferred.

The Michigan Reformatory was a state prison for men located in Ionia, Ionia County, Michigan, owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections. The facility has 352 beds at Level II security and 797 beds at Level IV security. The Reformatory was first opened in 1877 and housed "high-risk offenders". It closed in 2000 with the opening of the nearby Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility, then was reopened in 2007. A Michigan House Appropriation Subcommittee recommended its closure again in 2012. The Michigan Reformatory closed in November 2022 as inmate numbers continue to decline. Inmates were spread around the area and relocated.

Cotton, which is an inmate educational facility, is one portion of the former Michigan State Prison, described as the largest walled prison in the world as late as 1981, when it was rocked by extensive, damaging riots. The prison was divided in 1988 into smaller institutions. Four smaller state institutions currently occupy the former state prison grounds within the township. Henry Ford Allegiance Health is a 475-bed health system in Jackson in the U.S. state of Michigan. Henry Ford Allegiance Health has more than 400 physicians and 3,700 staff members. The health system offers specialized services including a new cancer center and a heart center with a 20-bed cardiac universal bed unit. A new specialty center combines services for patients with brain, spine, neck, joint and bone conditions. The specialty center also includes a new osteoporosis center, balance center and pain management center as well. The Commercial Exchange Building, also known as the Collins Manufacturing – Jackson Automobile Company complex, is an industrial building complex located at 2301 E. Michigan Ave. in Jackson, Michigan. The building was built partly in 1895, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. The listing included four contributing buildings.
