Parnall Correctional Facility

The G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility is a state prison for men located in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections.This facility dates from 1985. Cotton, which is an inmate educational facility, is one portion of the former Michigan State Prison, described as the largest walled prison in the world as late as 1981, when it was rocked by extensive, damaging riots. The prison was divided in 1988 into smaller institutions. As of 2016, Cotton and three other components remain open: the Parnall Correctional Facility, a minimum security prison the Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center, an intake and processing facility for all male state prisoners the Cooper Street Correctional Facility, a discharge and processing facility

The Duane Leonard Waters Hospital (DWH) is a 112 inpatient bed hospital located within the Michigan State Prison in Jackson, Michigan and used for prison inmates and workers. The facility is owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections. It primarily treats inmates whose medical needs cannot be treated at other Michigan Department of Corrections facilities.

The Cooper Street Correctional Facility is a minimum-security state prison for men located in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections.The facility was created from the former grounds of the Michigan Parole Camp, which was across the street from the former Michigan State Prison. The prison opened in 1997 and holds 814 inmates at a minimum security level, as the common point for processing of all male state prisoners about to be discharged, paroled, or transferred.

The Michigan Reformatory was a state prison for men located in Ionia, Ionia County, Michigan, owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections. The facility has 352 beds at Level II security and 797 beds at Level IV security. The Reformatory was first opened in 1877 and housed "high-risk offenders". It closed in 2000 with the opening of the nearby Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility, then was reopened in 2007. A Michigan House Appropriation Subcommittee recommended its closure again in 2012. The Michigan Reformatory closed in November 2022 as inmate numbers continue to decline. Inmates were spread around the area and relocated.

The Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center (RGC) is a state prison for men located in Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, owned and operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections.RGC houses a maximum of 1382 inmates at a mix of security levels, for the assessment, screening, and classification of all male state prisoners. RGC is adjacent to portions of the former Michigan State Prison, described as the largest walled prison in the world as late as 1981, when it was rocked by extensive, damaging riots. The prison was divided in 1988 into smaller institutions. As of 2016, Parnell and three other local components remain open as prisons: Parnall Correctional Facility, a minimum-security prison the G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility, an educational facility the Cooper Street Correctional Facility, a discharge and processing facilityRGC is named after Charles Egeler, warden of the former Michigan State Prison (at the time called the State Prison of Southern Michigan), on the same site. Egeler lived from May 17, 1928, until March 6, 1977. He was hired by the Michigan Department of Corrections in 1953 and became the warden of the State Prison of Southern Michigan in 1972, the position he held until his death.

The health system offers specialized services including a new cancer center and a heart center with a 20-bed cardiac universal bed unit. A new specialty center combines services for patients with brain, spine, neck, joint and bone conditions. The specialty center also includes a new osteoporosis center, balance center and pain management center as well. Henry Ford Allegiance Health operates the Henry Ford Allegiance Specialty Hospital (formerly CareLink of Jackson) to provide long-term acute care. The Health System also provides care at family medical centers in Albion, Brooklyn, Grass Lake, Jackson, Leslie, Mason, Onsted and Spring Arbor. Henry Ford Allegiance Radiation Oncology offers cancer care.

Michigan Ave. in Jackson, Michigan. The building was built partly in 1895, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. The listing included four contributing buildings.

Jackson Crossing, formerly Paka Plaza, is one of two enclosed shopping malls serving the city of Jackson, Michigan in the United States. It opened in 1960 and has been renovated in the 2000s. Anchor stores include Target, Kohl's, Best Buy, and TJ Maxx.
