Gilletts Lake is a lake located in Jackson County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is approximately 1.2 miles (1.9 km) long at its greatest length. It has an average depth of about 5 feet (1.5 m), with a maximum depth of just over 30 feet (9.1 m). Persons looking to fish in Gillets Lake should know that expected catches include Bluegill, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Rock Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, and Yellow Perch.

Michigan Center is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jackson County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,672 at the 2010 census. The CDP is located within Leoni Township on the eastern border of the city of Jackson. Michigan Center was platted as "Michigan Centre" in 1837 by Abel Fitch and Paul Ring, although there were settlements in the area from at least 1834. The name was presumably derived from the proximity to the Michigan meridian which divided the state into eastern and western portions for surveying. The community is not close to any sort of geographical center of the state. Fitch became the first postmaster in 1838. Michigan Center began developing as a mill town on a tributary of the Grand River. There was a station on the Michigan Central Railroad. However, nearby Jackson rapidly outpaced Michigan Center, which has since become a bedroom community to the city.

East Jackson Secondary School is a public high school located in southern Mid-Michigan in the eastern part of Jackson County. It currently contains approximately 580 students, ranging from grades 7th through 12th. It is the only secondary school in the East Jackson Community Schools district.

Michigan Ave. in Jackson, Michigan. The building was built partly in 1895, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. The listing included four contributing buildings.

Cotton, which is an inmate educational facility, is one portion of the former Michigan State Prison, described as the largest walled prison in the world as late as 1981, when it was rocked by extensive, damaging riots. The prison was divided in 1988 into smaller institutions. As of 2016, Cotton and three other components remain open: the Parnall Correctional Facility, a minimum security prison the Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center, an intake and processing facility for all male state prisoners the Cooper Street Correctional Facility, a discharge and processing facility
