Perth Amboy Technical High School (also known as MCVTS at Perth Amboy, Perth Amboy Tech and Perth Amboy Campus) is a four-year career academy and college preparatory magnet public high school for students in ninth through twelfth grades located in Perth Amboy in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States, operating as part of the Middlesex County Magnet Schools. The school serves students from all of Middlesex County. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 274 students and 21.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.0:1. There were 118 students (43.1% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 41 (15.0% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Located near Main Street and Arthur Kill Road, it is the southern terminus on the main line and the southernmost railway station in both New York City and New York State.

The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1928.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 2,593 students and 197.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.1:1. There were 1,707 students (65.8% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 254 (9.8% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.The current Perth Amboy High School was built in 1971, to replace an earlier building that opened in 1881. The building was originally built to accommodate 1,600 students, resulting in overcrowding with nearly 50% students above the design capacity attending the school. Perth Amboy High School is the only public high school in the city other than the Perth Amboy campus of the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High Schools. The school mascot is a panther.

Perth Amboy is a city in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Perth Amboy is part of the New York metropolitan area. As of the 2020 United States census, the city's population was 55,436, an increase of 4,622 (+9.1%) from the 2010 census count of 50,814, which in turn reflected an increase of 3,511 (+7.4%) from the 47,303 counted in the 2000 census. Perth Amboy has a Hispanic majority population. In the 2010 census, the Hispanic population made up 78.1% of the population, the second-highest in the state, behind Union City at 84.7%. Perth Amboy is known as the "City by the Bay", referring to its location adjoining Raritan Bay. The Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program calculated that the city's population was 55,357 in 2021, ranking the city as the 725th-most-populous in the country.The earliest residents of the area were the Lenape Native Americans, who called the point on which the city lies "Ompoge". Perth Amboy was settled in 1683 by Scottish colonists and was called "New Perth" after James Drummond, 4th Earl of Perth; the native name was eventually corrupted and the two names were merged. Perth Amboy was formed by Royal charter in 1718, and the New Jersey Legislature reaffirmed its status in 1784, after independence. The city was a capital of the Province of New Jersey from 1686 to 1776. During the mid-1800s, the Industrial Revolution and immigration grew the city, developing a variety of neighborhoods which residents from a diverse range of ethnicities lived in. The city developed into a resort town for the Raritan Bayshore near it, but the city has grown in other industries since its redevelopment starting in the 1990s. Perth Amboy borders the Arthur Kill and features a historic waterfront. The Perth Amboy Ferry Slip was once an important ferry slip on the route south from New York City; it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The Raritan Yacht Club, one of the oldest yacht clubs in the United States, is located in the city. Perth Amboy is connected to the Staten Island borough of New York City via the Outerbridge Crossing.

Simpson United Methodist Church is a historic church at High and Jefferson Streets in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. It was built in 1866 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 6, 1979.

The Perth Amboy Ferry Slip, located on the Arthur Kill in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States, was once a vital ferry slip for boats in New York Harbor. It was added to the New Jersey Register of Historic Places and National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The ferry slip was restored in 1998 to its 1904 appearance. A replica of the ticket office has been constructed and is used as a small museum.

The Outerbridge Crossing, also known as the Outerbridge, is a cantilever bridge that spans the Arthur Kill between Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and Staten Island, New York. It carries New York State Route 440 and New Jersey Route 440, with the two roads connecting at the state border near the bridge's center. The Outerbridge Crossing is one of three vehicular bridges connecting New Jersey with Staten Island, and like the others, is maintained and operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The others are the Bayonne Bridge (also carrying Route 440), which connects Staten Island with Bayonne, and the Goethals Bridge (carrying I-278, which connects the island with Elizabeth).

Arthur Kill Terminal is a proposed purpose-built offshore wind port on the Arthur Kill on the west shore of Staten Island, New York. It is intended to be a wind turbine assembly and staging area for various offshore wind farms in the New York Bight. It is planned to be located on 32 acres (13 ha) just south of the Outerbridge Crossing. The site, which would allow for the docking of heavy-lift ships, is not hindered by air draft restrictions since there is no bridge downstream of the facility.

New York Central Railroad Tugboat 13 was a railway tugboat built in 1887 in Camden, New Jersey by John H. Dialogue and Son. The tugboat was built for the New York Central Railroad to push barges, called car floats, carrying railroad cars and other freight across the waterways of New York Harbor. It originally had a steam engine of 232 horsepower (173 kW), replaced with two General Motors 6-110 diesel engines in the 1950s. The engines sat back-to-back and drove a central Falk gearbox, which turned the single propeller. The hull was riveted and made of wrought iron. After 2002, the tugboat underwent extensive renovation at Garpo Marine in Tottenville, Staten Island. Two new keel coolers from Fernstrum were installed in a recessed box in the hull to cool the engines. Efforts to restore the ship seemingly failed in the intervening years, and she was scrapped in 2017 in Tottenville.
