Glenn Springs Historic District

The Zimmerman House is a historic home located in Glenn Springs Historic District at Glenn Springs, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The home was constructed from 1852 to 1854 as the plantation house of John Conrad Zimmerman, a local entrepreneur. The home consists of a two-story frame house in a U-shaped plan. On the west and north sides, there are two-tier porticos with stuccoed doric columns on each tier. There is also a brick wellhouse with stuccoed brick arches, and a barn with a granite cornerstone.

The William Dixon Fowler House was built around 1901 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina by William Dixon Fowler. The Queen Anne style house is believed to have been built from plans published by prolific residential architect George F. Barber. The wood-frame house features a high level of carpentry and detailing. The house's chief features are a wrap-around porch, a porte-cochere, and a second-story turret embedded in the slope of the main roof. A contemporaneous smokehouse is also considered a contributing feature.The Fowler House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 8, 2012.

It was founded in 1849 by the Reverend Newton Pinckney Walker as a private school for students who were deaf. The School for the Blind was established in 1855, and the school became state funded in 1856.Previously students were under de jure educational segregation in the United States with black students separate. In 1967 the school racially integrated.The School for the Multihandicapped was established in 1977, and the school began providing outreach services in the mid-1980s.
