The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina (simply known as PLMar) is the first city government-funded university in Marikina, Philippines. It was established by Ordinance No. 015 Series of 2003. The effort was spearheaded by Mayor Marides C. Fernando Enrollment in 2003 was 1,424 students and has successively increased; the 2012-2016 enrollment is 12,051. PLMar surpasses the national rate of graduates who pass the Professional Regulation Commission National Board Examinations for Nurses, Teachers and Criminologist.

Marikina (), officially known as the City of Marikina (Tagalog: Lungsod ng Marikina), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 456,059 people. It is located along the eastern border of Metro Manila, Marikina is the main gateway of Metro Manila to Rizal and Quezon provinces through Marikina–Infanta Highway. It is bordered on the west by Quezon City, to the south by Pasig and Cainta, to the north by San Mateo, and to the east by Antipolo, the capital of Rizal province. It is founded by the Jesuits on the fertile Marikina Valley in 1630, Marikina was the provincial capital of the Province of Manila under the First Philippine Republic from 1898 to 1899 during the Philippine Revolution. Following the onset of American occupation it was then organized as a municipality of Rizal Province, prior to the formation of Metro Manila in 1975. A formerly rural settlement, Marikina is now primarily residential and industrial and has become increasingly commercial in recent years. The City of Marikina is considered one of the wealthiest local government units in the Philippines.Marikina is known as the "Shoe Capital of the Philippines" for its famous shoe industry. It is the biggest manufacturer of shoes in the Philippines, producing almost 70% of shoes made in the country. Located in the city are the Philippine International Footwear Center and the Shoe Museum, housing the infamous shoe collection of former First Lady Imelda Marcos, wife of the late Filipino President, dictator, and kleptocrat Ferdinand Marcos.The city is under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Antipolo. It contains the Our Lady of the Abandoned Church, the oldest in the Marikina Valley built in 1572.

Manila Christian Computer Institute for the Deaf (MCCID) is a non-sectarian, post-secondary, Christian foundation school for the deaf in the Philippines authorized by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to offer non-degree computer and other technical training programs. It is also the only institute in the Philippines authorized by the government through TESDA to offer sign language and interpreting programs as well as courses for the deaf. Manila Christian Computer Institute for the Deaf Foundation, Inc. was incorporated on September 9, 1993, by the Securities and Exchange Commission (Philippines) (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit foundation. It was through the idea of two young Christian computer professionals, one hearing and one deaf, that they decided to establish an educational institution that focuses on improving the computer skills of the deaf. On November 4, 2008, MCCID became MCCID College of Technology, Inc.

The Marikina North Sewage Treatment Plant is a sewage treatment plant in Marikina, Metro Manila, Philippines. Managed by Manila Water, the facility is the largest sewage treatment plant in the Philippines processing 100 million liters (26,000,000 U.S. gal) of used water daily.It is situated in the Balubad Resettlement Area in Barangay Nangka in Marikina. Aside from Marikina, the sewage treatment plant also covers the town of San Mateo in Rizal and other nearby areas. It is built on a 2 hectares (4.9 acres) land with an elevation of 26.5 meters (87 ft) above ground as measure against flooding. The facility discharges treated water to the Marikina River. The treatment plant makes use of the Sequence Batch Reactor biological treatment process.The Marikina North Sewage Treatment Plant was inaugurated on November 24, 2016.

Blue Wave-Marikina, also known as Blue Wave at Marquinton, is a mall and office complex in Marikina, Philippines developed by Federal Land, Inc. It sits on a 2 hectares (4.9 acres) site just off the Sumulong Highway, at the northwest corner of the intersection with Mayor Gil Fernando Avenue.

SM City San Mateo is a shopping mall owned by the largest mall developer in the Philippines, SM Prime Holdings. It is located along Gen. Luna Avenue, Brgy. Ampid 1, San Mateo, Rizal. This first major mall of San Mateo opens on May 15, 2015, being the fourth SM Supermall in Rizal Province after SM City Taytay, SM City Masinag and SM Center Angono, and the 52nd SM Supermall in the country. The mall is designed by JRP Design Inc., a local architectural design firm in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa and DSGN associates, a firm based in Dallas, Texas, United States, which also designed SM City Marikina. The mall has a gross floor area (GFA) of 80,043 m2 (861,580 sq ft) situated on 22,882 m2 (246,300 sq ft) of land.

The Marikina Sports Center, also known as Marikina Sports Park and formerly known as Rodriguez Sports Center, is a sports complex located in Marikina, at the corner of Shoe Avenue and Sumulong Highway in Metro Manila, Philippines.

Marikina Cityhood Park is a public park along the corner of Sumulong Highway and Shoe Avenue in Marikina, Metro Manila, Philippines. It features a 12 m (39 ft) concrete monument with a clock and 12 bells sourced from Italy as well as a fountain. It was unveiled in 2005 to commemorate ninth year anniversary of Marikina's cityhood.

Santa Elena is a barangay of Marikina, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 6,954 people. Bordered by San Roque and Jesus Dela Peña, Sta. Elena is said to be one of the first towns established by the Augustinians in what was known as the Marikina Valley and home for the heritage sites such as the Our Lady of the Abandoned Parish and the Kapitan Moy Residence.

Antipolo station is a railway station. It sits on Manila Light Rail Transit System Line 2 located in Antipolo, Rizal. It opened on July 5, 2021 and is the line's easternmost station, located on the stretch of Marikina–Infanta Highway near the intersection of Sumulong Highway. It is the first Manila LRT System station outside Metro Manila to be operational. The station is the eastern terminus of the line and is the first and last station for trains headed to and from Recto station.

The Christ the Lord of Harvest Academy, Inc. or "CLHA, Inc." is a private Christian institution of learning in San Mateo, Rizal, Philippines particularly in Silangan. CLHA is a non-stock, non-profit and non-sectarian educational institution. It was established by Mrs. Eden D. Lozande on February 12, 1995.

Sta. Elena High School (Filipino: Mataas na Paaralan ng Sta. Elena) is a public high school located at W.C. Paz St., Sta. Elena, Marikina in the Philippines. It was an annex of the Marikina High School for Brgy. Sta Elena and nearby barangays. In 2000, it became an independent high school with Mrs. Helen T. Samson as the Head Teacher In-Charge. It is located in Marikina. The school was visited by the Former Department of Education Secretary, Jesli Lapus, and by the Former President of The Philippines Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in the groundbreaking Ceremony of the start of building of MT Building, which is constructed through the initiative of the former 1st District Congressman, now Mayor of Marikina, Marcelino Teodoro. It is widely known as the 2nd best public high school in Marikina, behind only the prestigious Marikina Science High School where Mayor Marcelino Teodoro formerly studied. However, the lack of its students' discipline and some of its students lacking when it comes to academics are often criticized Through the initiative of Marcelino Teodoro, and the PAGCOR Institution of the Aquino administration, a new building was established for the students of Sta. Elena High School, especially for the Senior High School students, due to the SHS Program of the Department of Education. .
