Marikina (), officially known as the City of Marikina (Tagalog: Lungsod ng Marikina), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 456,059 people. It is located along the eastern border of Metro Manila, Marikina is the main gateway of Metro Manila to Rizal and Quezon provinces through Marikina–Infanta Highway. It is bordered on the west by Quezon City, to the south by Pasig and Cainta, to the north by San Mateo, and to the east by Antipolo, the capital of Rizal province. It is founded by the Jesuits on the fertile Marikina Valley in 1630, Marikina was the provincial capital of the Province of Manila under the First Philippine Republic from 1898 to 1899 during the Philippine Revolution. Following the onset of American occupation it was then organized as a municipality of Rizal Province, prior to the formation of Metro Manila in 1975. A formerly rural settlement, Marikina is now primarily residential and industrial and has become increasingly commercial in recent years. The City of Marikina is considered one of the wealthiest local government units in the Philippines.Marikina is known as the "Shoe Capital of the Philippines" for its famous shoe industry. It is the biggest manufacturer of shoes in the Philippines, producing almost 70% of shoes made in the country. Located in the city are the Philippine International Footwear Center and the Shoe Museum, housing the infamous shoe collection of former First Lady Imelda Marcos, wife of the late Filipino President, dictator, and kleptocrat Ferdinand Marcos.The city is under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Antipolo. It contains the Our Lady of the Abandoned Church, the oldest in the Marikina Valley built in 1572.

Batasan Hills is a barangay of Quezon City, Philippines. The barangay was originally planned as the National Government Center of the Philippines. The Batasang Pambansa Complex, which sits atop the Constitution Hill, is the legislative session hall of the House of Representatives of the Philippines. The Sandiganbayan, a special appellate court, is also located here. The barangay borders the barangays of Commonwealth and Bagong Silangan to the north, Barangay Holy Spirit to the west, Barangay Matandang Balara to the south, and the municipality of San Mateo, Rizal to the east.

The Manila Boys' Town Complex is a residential care center for indigent boys, girls and the elderly in Marikina, Metro Manila, Philippines and is operated by the Manila local government.

The Batasan–San Mateo Road, also known as the IBP–San Mateo Road and formerly as the Constitutional Road, is a four-lane east–west highway connecting Quezon City and San Mateo, Rizal in the Philippines. The road begins at the intersection with the Batasan Road in Batasan Hills, Quezon City adjacent to the Batasang Pambansa complex. It passes through the areas of Filinvest II Subdivision which also includes Northview I and II, the former site of Batasan Hills Elementary School, San Antonio de Padua Church, a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a branch of Puregold Jr. adjacent to the temple, Sunnyside Hills Subdivision, the Batasan-San Mateo Bridge crossing the Marikina River, Felicidad Village in San Mateo and ends at the intersection with Gen. Luna Avenue where Puregold San Mateo is located and then continues through San Mateo town proper to the left and Marikina to the right.

SM City San Mateo is a shopping mall owned by the largest mall developer in the Philippines, SM Prime Holdings. It is located along Gen. Luna Avenue, Brgy. Ampid 1, San Mateo, Rizal. This first major mall of San Mateo opens on May 15, 2015, being the fourth SM Supermall in Rizal Province after SM City Taytay, SM City Masinag and SM Center Angono, and the 52nd SM Supermall in the country. The mall is designed by JRP Design Inc., a local architectural design firm in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa and DSGN associates, a firm based in Dallas, Texas, United States, which also designed SM City Marikina. The mall has a gross floor area (GFA) of 80,043 m2 (861,580 sq ft) situated on 22,882 m2 (246,300 sq ft) of land.

On February 24, 2021, a botched buy-bust operation resulted in a shootout between units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City. The incident resulted in the deaths of two police officers, a PDEA agent and an informant. Both agencies claimed that they had been conducting a legitimate anti-drug operation.

Don Antonio station is an under-construction Metro Rail Transit (MRT) station located on the MRT Line 7 (MRT-7) system along Commonwealth Avenue in Holy Spirit, Quezon City. Landmarks near the station include the Ever Gotesco Commonwealth shopping mall and Shopwise Commonwealth. Its working title was Station 5. As of 31 January 2023, the project is 66.07% complete; the station's construction is to be finished by June of the same year.

Batasan Hills National High School (BHNHS) is a public high school located in Batasan Hills, Quezon City, Philippines. It is the most populous public high school in the Philippines with nearly 16,000 students.

The Balara Filters Park is a 60-hectare (150-acre) park located in the Diliman village of Pansol in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines, adjacent to the University of the Philippines Diliman main campus. It is bounded by Katipunan Avenue on the west, Capitol Hills Golf and Country Club on the north, and the upscale, gated village of La Vista along its south and east. The park is one of the oldest recreation areas in Quezon City having been first opened to the public in 1953. It occupies part of the old Balara Filtration Plant complex, one of the main treatment facilities for water coming from the La Mesa Dam. The park is administered by the Manila Water company in partnership with the Quezon City Parks Development and Administration Department.

Batasan station is an under-construction Metro Rail Transit (MRT) station located on the MRT Line 7 (MRT-7) system in Batasan Hills, Quezon City, Philippines. It is near the Sandiganbayan Centennial Building, Public Attorneys Office Building, Batasan TODA Terminal, the Commission on Audit Complex and the Batasan Pambansa Complex. It is the ninth station for trains headed towards the North Triangle Common Station and the sixth station for trains headed to San Jose del Monte.

Marikina Heights is one of the barangays of Marikina measuring some 184.16 hectares. Once a privately owned hacienda, it is now populated by 35,416 people according to the 2010 National Census.
