Monção

The Castle of Monção (Portuguese: Castelo de Monção) is a medieval castle in the civil parish of Monção e Troviscoso, municipality of Monção, the Portuguese district of Viana do Castelo. It is classified as a National Monument.

Salvaterra de Miño is a town and municipality (concello) in the province of Pontevedra, autonomous community of Galicia, Spain. The Brejoeira Palace (Portuguese: Palácio da Brejoeira) is a palace in Monção, Portugal. The Palace was constructed in the 18th century according to a project from the architect Carlos Amarante. It has been classified by IPPAR since 1910. The palace opened for the public in 2010.

O Porriño is a municipality in the province of Pontevedra, in the autonomous community of Galicia, Spain. It belongs to the comarca of Vigo. As an industrial town in the Vigo metropolitan area, it has an important economic significance. One of its main industries is granite production; the variety of granite produced in O Porriño is known as Rosa Porriño ("Porriño Pink"), and is exported from the Port of Vigo mainly to Italy, Japan and China. On 9 September 2016, a Portuguese train travelling from Vigo to Porto derailed near O Porriño railway station, killing the driver and at least three other people on board.

Valença (Portuguese pronunciation: [vɐˈlẽsɐ] ), also known as Valença do Minho, is a municipality and a town in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 14,127, in an area of 117.13 km2.Valença officially became a city on 12 June 2009. The municipality is located in Viana do Castelo District. The present Mayor is Jorge Mendes, elected by the Social Democratic Party (PSD). The municipal holiday is 18 February.

Tui (Galician pronunciation: [ˈtuj]; Spanish: Tuy) is a municipality in the province of Pontevedra in the autonomous community of Galicia, in Spain. It is located in the comarca of O Baixo Miño on the right bank of the Miño River, facing the Portuguese town of Valença. The municipality of Tui is composed of 11 parishes: Randufe, Malvas, Pexegueiro, Areas, Pazos de Reis, Rebordáns, Ribadelouro, Guillarei, Paramos, Baldráns and Caldelas. Two bridges connect Tui and Valença: Tui International Bridge (known in Portugal as Valença International Bridge or "Friendship Bridge"), completed in 1878 under the direction of Pelayo Mancebo, and a modern one from the 1990s. Both Portugal and Spain being signatories of the Schengen Treaty, there are normally no formalities in crossing what is the busiest border-point in northern Portugal.
