Monção (Portuguese pronunciation: [mõˈsɐ̃w] ) is a municipality in the district of Viana do Castelo in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 19,230, in an area of 211.31 km2. The current Mayor is the Social Democrat António Barbosa. The municipal holiday is March 12.

Salvaterra de Miño is a town and municipality (concello) in the province of Pontevedra, autonomous community of Galicia, Spain. It's located on the southern border of the province of Pontevedra, at the confluence of the valleys of the rivers Tea and Minho, and by the natural limits of the Serra da Cañiza. It borders the Municipalities of As Neves in the east, Mondariz and Poteareas to the north, and to the south by the Minno river. The Minno river (Río Miño or Rio Minho) is the southern natural border that today separates Portugal with its fortified town of Monção from current Galicia to the north.

The Brejoeira Palace (Portuguese: Palácio da Brejoeira) is a palace in Monção, Portugal. The Palace was constructed in the 18th century according to a project from the architect Carlos Amarante. It has been classified by IPPAR since 1910. The palace opened for the public in 2010.

O Porriño is a municipality in the province of Pontevedra, in the autonomous community of Galicia, Spain. It belongs to the comarca of Vigo. As an industrial town in the Vigo metropolitan area, it has an important economic significance. One of its main industries is granite production; the variety of granite produced in O Porriño is known as Rosa Porriño ("Porriño Pink"), and is exported from the Port of Vigo mainly to Italy, Japan and China. On 9 September 2016, a Portuguese train travelling from Vigo to Porto derailed near O Porriño railway station, killing the driver and at least three other people on board.

Valença (Portuguese pronunciation: [vɐˈlẽsɐ] ), also known as Valença do Minho, is a municipality and a town in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 14,127, in an area of 117.13 km2.Valença officially became a city on 12 June 2009. The municipality is located in Viana do Castelo District. The present Mayor is Jorge Mendes, elected by the Social Democratic Party (PSD). The municipal holiday is 18 February.

Tui (Galician pronunciation: [ˈtuj]; Spanish: Tuy) is a municipality in the province of Pontevedra in the autonomous community of Galicia, in Spain. It is located in the comarca of O Baixo Miño on the right bank of the Miño River, facing the Portuguese town of Valença. The municipality of Tui is composed of 11 parishes: Randufe, Malvas, Pexegueiro, Areas, Pazos de Reis, Rebordáns, Ribadelouro, Guillarei, Paramos, Baldráns and Caldelas. Two bridges connect Tui and Valença: Tui International Bridge (known in Portugal as Valença International Bridge or "Friendship Bridge"), completed in 1878 under the direction of Pelayo Mancebo, and a modern one from the 1990s. Both Portugal and Spain being signatories of the Schengen Treaty, there are normally no formalities in crossing what is the busiest border-point in northern Portugal.

The Diocese of Tui-Vigo (Latin: Dioecesis Tudensis-Vicensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in Northwestern Spain. It is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Santiago de Compostela.Its cathedral is Tui Cathedral, dedicated to Santa Maria, in the episcopal see of Tui. It also has a co-cathedral, dedicated to Saint Martin and the Virgin Mary in Vigo: the Co-Cathedral of Santa María, Vigo.

On 9 September 2016, a passenger train travelling from Vigo, Spain to Oporto, Portugal derailed at O Porriño, Galicia, Spain. Four people were killed and 49 were injured, 7 severely injured.
