Silver Lake is a long and narrow natural freshwater lake on the border between Hernando County, Florida, and Sumter County, Florida. This lake is surrounded by the Withlacoochee State Forest. On the south shore are the Silver Lake Campgrounds. A public boat ramp on the lake shore is within the campgrounds. On the northwest this lake is bounded by Interstate 75. The entire shore of Silver Lake is forested. A small almost round islet, 60 feet (18 m) long by 50 feet (15 m) wide, is in the southeast corner of the lake, just offshore. Sometimes sandbars are nearby. The Withlacoochee River flows into the lake and out the other end. While this lake has a public boat ramp it has no public swimming beach. There is no information about the types of fish in this lake in online sites.

Florida National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located near the city of Bushnell in Sumter County, Florida. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs it encompasses 512.9 acres (207.6 ha) and began interments in 1988. It is now one of the busiest cemeteries in the United States.

The Wild Cow Prairie Cemetery is located in Sumter County, Florida near Bushnell, Florida. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.A 2020 study using ground-penetrating radar determined presence of 16 marked and 28 unmarked graves. It includes burials of veterans, of county commissioners and possibly of former slaves.While its address is 5822 County Road 673, it is located along the partially paved frontage road on the southeast side of the embankment for CR 673 and Exit 309 off of Interstate 75, within part of the Withlacoochee State Forest in Saint Catherine, Florida.

The Little Withlacoochee River is a 16-mile (26 kilometer) long river with its headwaters starting in the Richloam Wildlife Management Area in Sumter County, Florida. The Little Withlacoochee River ends near River Junction Campground just east of Silver Lake in the Croom Wildlife Management Area. It makes up a portion of the Hernando-Sumter County border. Sumter Correctional Institution is the location of the state's only Basic Training Unit for Youthful Offenders in the Department of Corrections. After completing the 120 day program with a heavy course load of drill practice, education, physical training and a highly regimented daily schedule inmates are released to serve the remainder of their sentence on probation the day of graduation. An alleged sexual assault against a 17-year-old inmate by six other prisoners in July 2013 triggered a federal lawsuit against the institution.

Wildlife Lane is a street and apparent neighborhood in Hernando County, Florida. It is located along the north side of US 98-SR 50 east of Hill 'n Dale, Florida and west of Interstate 75 in Florida. It is also located along the southern edge of the Croom Tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest.

Withlacoochee State Trail is a 46-mile (74 km) long paved, multi-use, non-motorized rail trail in Florida located in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties. It follows along the Withlacoochee River and passes through the Withlacoochee State Forest. It is the longest paved rail trail in Florida.

Nobleton Wayside Park a 2-acre (8,100 m2) park at 29061 Lamkin Drive in Nobleton, Florida that includes a boat ramp launching point on the Withlacoochee River as well as a shelter, basketball court, and picnic tables. Lamkin Drive is a loop road along the north side of County Road 476, the east end of which is at the intersection of Edgewater Avenue, which was once part of State Road 39. The park is across from the Nobleton Post Office, and between the crossing of the Withlacoochee State Trail and the Nobleton Outpost recreational area.

Cypress Lake Preserve is a 324-acre (1.31 km2) nature preserve in Ridge Manor, Florida. The preserve is located in the vicinity of US 98/SR 50 and Ridge Manor Boulevard in Ridge Manor, Florida. It includes approximately 600 feet (180 m) of frontage on the Withlacoochee River and offers walking and hiking trails.Cypress Lake Preserve has two signs. One of which is on Paul N. Steckle Drive between the Withlacoochee River and a Hernando County Firehouse, and the other on Ridge Manor Boulevard across from the intersection with Olancha Road.

Lake Townsen Regional Park is a park located in northeastern Hernando County, Florida, United States. Although Hernando County Department of Parks gives the address as being in Brooksville, it is actually closer to Istachatta. The park occupies 375 acres (152 ha) and includes trails for jogging, hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding. These trails connect with the Withlacoochee State Trail. The park also has fields for baseball, basketball, volleyball and horseshoes as well a picnic areas and a playground.

Istachatta is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Hernando County, Florida, United States. The population was 116 at the 2010 census, up from 65 at the 2000 census. The name "Istachatta" is derived from a Seminole word meaning "man snake".
