Amerongen (Dutch pronunciation: [amɛrɔŋə(n)]) is a village in the province of Utrecht, the Netherlands, on the border of the Utrecht Hill Ridge. It lies about 7 km south west of Veenendaal (10.5 km by road). The landscape rises from the flat water meadows of the Nederrijn (Lower Rhine) to the Utrecht Hill Ridge ("Utrechtse Heuvelrug"). The highest point in the western Netherlands is located 2 km east of the village. The Amerongense Berg (Amerongen Mountain) has a height of 69 metres above sea level.

't Koetshuis was a restaurant located in Rhenen, Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one or two Michelin stars in the period 1957–1970. The restaurant was established in 1945 in the stable of the former hotel "Berg en Bos". The hotel had fallen victim to the Second World War. The Frisch family, of Swiss origin, just started all again and started a rotisserie. This restaurant went very well, until it burned down in 1964. Henri Frisch wanted to start over again, but he died a month after the fire. His children went on with the rebuilding and the restaurant reopened in 1965.Owners of the restaurant were Henri Frisch (1957–1964) and his daughter Marianne Frisch (1964–1970). Marianne Frisch sold the restaurant in 1988. Henri Frisch was also head chef. In 1967, J. van Heusden was head chef.'t Koetshuis was in 1967 one of the founding members of Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise, an association of quality restaurants in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Scherpenzeel (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsxɛrpə(n)ˌzeːl] (listen)) is a municipality and a town in the Dutch province of Gelderland. Elst is a village in the central Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Rhenen, Utrecht, about 5 km southwest of Veenendaal. Until 1 January 2006, the western tip of the village was in the municipality of Amerongen.The village was first mentioned in 1448 as "op Elscher maelstat", and means "place where alder trees grow". Elst developed into a settlement on the southern flank of a hill and became a linear settlement along the Utrecht-Arnhem road. In 1819, a little church was built. The economy during the 19th century was mainly based on the growth of tobacco plants. In 1840, Elst was home to 631 people.The grist mill 't Wissel was built in 1855. The wind mill was in operation until 1930. Between 1980 and 1981, it was restored and functioned for several bakeries, but ran into technical difficulties. In 2005, it was repaired and occasionally produces fodder.

The Andrieskerk ("St. Andrew's church") is a nowadays Protestant church in the Dutch village of Amerongen. The church's history spans around seven centuries, beginning in the end of the 13th century, when everybody in western Europe had to be Roman Catholic. With the Reformation, the church became Protestant in 1582. It is currently used by the Reformed Municipal Parish of Amerongen.

Amerongen Castle (Dutch: Kasteel Amerongen, [kɑsteːl amɛrɔŋə(n)]) is a castle in Amerongen, the Netherlands. It was built between 1674 and 1680, on the site of a medieval castle that had been burned down by the French in 1673. The gardens still contain historic elements such as a conservatory dating from the 1890s. In 1918, the former German Kaiser Wilhelm II signed his abdication here and stayed till 1920, when he moved to Huis Doorn.
