Amerongen Castle (Dutch: Kasteel Amerongen, [kɑsteːl amɛrɔŋə(n)]) is a castle in Amerongen, the Netherlands. It was built between 1674 and 1680, on the site of a medieval castle that had been burned down by the French in 1673. The gardens still contain historic elements such as a conservatory dating from the 1890s. In 1918, the former German Kaiser Wilhelm II signed his abdication here and stayed till 1920, when he moved to Huis Doorn.

The highest point in the western Netherlands is located 2 km east of the village. The Amerongense Berg (Amerongen Mountain) has a height of 69 metres above sea level.

The first part means goose, the second part can be either "land near water" or "farmland". The postal authorities have placed it under Ingen. Even though, it is outside the build-up area, it has place name signs with a 30 km/h speed limit.

It was first mentioned in 1913 as Esschenbroek, and means swampy land with ash (Fraxinus excelsior) trees. The hamlet consists of about 20 houses.

Leersum is a town in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug, and lies about 7 km east of Doorn and 9 km west of Veenendaal. In 2001, the town of Leersum had 6013 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 1.44 km², and contained 2465 residences.Until 2006, there was a separate municipality Leersum, covering both the village of Leersum and Darthuizen. In June 2021, Leersum was hit by a downburst. Many cars and homes were heavily damaged by falling trees. As a result, the forests around Leersum have been closed. Staatsbosbeheer, the Dutch state forest administration, estimates that damaged sections of forest will not be reopened to the general public before the end of the year 2021.

Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park is a national park in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It covers the southern part of the Utrecht Hill Ridge. When it was founded in 2003, the park covered 6,000 ha (15,000 acres) of heathlands, shifting sands, forests, grass lands and floodplains. In 2013 the park was extended to 10,000 ha (25,000 acres), adding the area north of highway A12 when the ecoduct Mollebos was realized. The most striking landscape feature is the glacial ridge after which the park is named.

Ingen is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Buren, and lies about 9 km south-west of Veenendaal. Before 1999 the town was part of the municipality of Lienden from 1818 till 1999. The houses are widely spread into a bowl form. The houses link to the townships De Ganzert and Eck en Wiel in the West.

Elst is a village in the central Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Rhenen, Utrecht, about 5 km southwest of Veenendaal. Until 1 January 2006, the western tip of the village was in the municipality of Amerongen.The village was first mentioned in 1448 as "op Elscher maelstat", and means "place where alder trees grow". Elst developed into a settlement on the southern flank of a hill and became a linear settlement along the Utrecht-Arnhem road. In 1819, a little church was built. The economy during the 19th century was mainly based on the growth of tobacco plants. In 1840, Elst was home to 631 people.The grist mill 't Wissel was built in 1855. The wind mill was in operation until 1930. Between 1980 and 1981, it was restored and functioned for several bakeries, but ran into technical difficulties. In 2005, it was repaired and occasionally produces fodder.

Klinkenberg is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Buren, and lies about 8 km southwest of Veenendaal. It was first mentioned in 1845 as Klinkenberg. Both clinge and berg mean hill. The postal authorities have placed it under Ingen.
