Kadist is an interdisciplinary contemporary arts organization with an international contemporary art collection. In addition to being a collecting body, Kadist hosts artists residencies and produces exhibitions, publications, and public events. The first location was opened in Paris in 2006 by Vincent Worms and Sandra Terdjman, and a San Francisco, California location was added in 2011 in the Mission District.

Henry Geilfuss House is an 1882 Italian Villa style home built by architect Henry Geilfuss. The home is in San Francisco California and is on the National Register of Historic Places listings in California.

The New Mission Theater at 2550 Mission St in San Francisco was built in 1916, originally designed by the Reid Brothers. It was renovated for the Nasser Brothers circuit in 1932 by Timothy Pflueger, who transformed it into an Art Deco style masterpiece. It boasts a 70 foot (21 m) marquee sign that is a local landmark. In its early life, it showed mostly "B" movies. In the 1960s and 1970s it specialized in children's fare. The theater closed in 1993 and became a furniture store. It was purchased by the City College of San Francisco, who proposed to raze it and build new campus facilities. But a group called "Save The New Mission Theater", headed by Alfonso Felder, lobbied to stop the college from destroying the theater.The theater was renovated by the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema chain, and opened in December 2015.

El Capitan Theatre and Hotel, or The Cap, is a historic 1928 building containing a hotel, shops, and a former luxury vaudeville and movie theater in the Mission District of San Francisco, California. It has been listed by the city as a San Francisco Designated Landmark (no. 214), since March 3, 1996.

The Girls Club in San Francisco, California, also known as Mission Neighborhood Capp St. Center, was built in 1911 in the Bay Area Tradition version of Shingle Style architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. According to its NRHP nomination:"The Mission Neighborhood Capp Street Center is significant for the quality of its design and its role in the history of social movements in San Francisco. Built in 1911, the building is an excellent example of the First Bay Tradition. This regional interpretation of the Shingle Style was characterized by the use of shingles and stained wood and picturesque changes in spatial and axial arrangement. Its major practitioners were Ernest Coxhead, Willis Polk, Bernard Maybeck and Julia Morgan. The skillful execution of the design of the Mission Neighborhood Capp Street Center makes it a significant expression of this genre." The building is a two-and-a-half-story wood-frame structure. The 1911-built building with theatre was expanded by 1923 addition of a gymnasium, making a U-shaped complex. There is an inner courtyard and a brick alley way. The main entrance porch is capped with a Georgian-style broken pediment. The upper stories' surface is dark brown shingles. The theatre has small stage, a beamed ceiling and a balcony level. After a fire in the 1940s a sprinkler system was added.

Mutiny Radio is an internet radio station operating from the Mission District of San Francisco, California. The station has an eclectic talk format, hosting local shows with interviews, as well as live performances of comedy, music, hip-hop, theater, storytelling, philosophy and poetry. Shows are streamed live online and made available in podcast form on ITunes and other platforms. Mutiny radio reports on progressive, alternative, independent news through their site. Their in-station gallery is available to local visual artists showcasing their work.

Neuralink Corporation is a neurotechnology company that develops implantable brain–machine interfaces (BMIs). Co-founded by Elon Musk, the company's headquarters is in the Pioneer Building in San Francisco sharing offices with OpenAI. Neuralink was launched in 2016 and was first publicly reported in March 2017.Since its founding, the company has hired several high-profile neuroscientists from various universities. By July 2019, it had received $158 million in funding (of which $100 million was from Musk) and was employing a staff of 90 employees. At that time, Neuralink announced that it was working on a "sewing machine-like" device capable of implanting very thin (4 to 6 μm in width) threads into the brain, and demonstrated a system that read information from a lab rat via 1,500 electrodes. They had anticipated starting experiments with humans in 2020; but have since moved that projection to 2022.Several neuroscientists and publications, including the MIT Technology Review, have criticized claims made by Musk in relation to the technology.

The Pioneer Building is a historic building in San Francisco, California. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, as "Pioneer Trunk Factory--C. A. Malm & Co.".The building is located at 2185-2199 Folsom and 3180 18th Streets. It previously housed the office of Stripe. As of 2020, it houses the offices of OpenAI and Neuralink.

OpenAI is an artificial intelligence (AI) research laboratory consisting of the for-profit corporation OpenAI LP and its parent company, the non-profit OpenAI Inc. The company, considered a competitor to DeepMind, conducts research in the field of AI with the stated goal of promoting and developing friendly AI in a way that benefits humanity as a whole. The organization was founded in San Francisco in late 2015 by Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and others, who collectively pledged US$1 billion. Musk resigned from the board in February 2018 but remained a donor. In 2019, OpenAI LP received a US$1 billion investment from Microsoft.

Lazy Bear is a Michelin starred restaurant in San Francisco, in the U.S. state of California.The idea for Lazy Bear came to chef David Barzelay after a dinner party he threw was so successful, people kept talking about his food. Until 2015, he did pop up, underground events before opening a brick and mortar location in the Mission District. The restaurant has two floors. The top floor is for drinks, apéritifs and appetizers. Then they head downstairs for the rest of the meal.

The Mission District (Spanish: Distrito de la Misión), commonly known as The Mission (Spanish: La Misión), is a neighborhood in San Francisco, California. One of the oldest neighborhoods in San Francisco, the Mission District's name is derived from Mission San Francisco de Asís, built in 1776 by the Spanish. The Mission is historically one of the most notable center of the city's Chicano/Mexican-American community.

Arroyo Dolores (Spanish for Our Lady of Sorrow Creek) is a river in San Francisco, California that has been largely culverted. The only remaining portion above ground is in the Mission Creek Channel that drains into China Basin.
